“Honey, come look at this. This supporting character in the novel has exactly the same name as ours.”

Li Ruolan showed her phone to her husband Deng Minghao, who was lying beside her.

Deng Minghao didn’t like reading novels. He glanced at it for a moment before looking away. ”Probably just a coincidence. Anyway, it’s getting late—read a little more and then go to sleep. Don’t stay up all night.”Full novel: A Couple Transmigrates into an Era Novel as Supporting Characters — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Li Ruolan nodded, but didn’t listen. Being forced to stop reading a novel right at a good part was pure torture.

She read until the middle of the night, finishing more than half the book, before finally closing her eyes and falling asleep.

Then she had a dream. In the dream, Li Ruolan was born in the late 1950s, the third child of the family, with two older sisters and a younger brother.

Before Li Ruolan was born, people said that since Mother Li’s belly was pointed, she was surely carrying a big fat boy. Mother Li and Father Li were overjoyed—but who knew that another daughter would be born.

Because of this, Li Ruolan was despised by her parents. Her birth had made the couple a laughingstock among the people around them.

Later, when her little brother Li Baozong was born, being a boy, he was adored by the whole family. And so Li Ruolan and her two sisters became Li Baozong’s personal servants.

The dream was filled with scenes of Li Ruolan never getting enough to eat, never staying warm enough, being bullied by her two sisters and her brother, and not even having a thick coat to wear in winter.

But fortunately, when it came to schooling, Mother Li treated all four children equally and sent them all to school.

Of course, she wasn’t being kind—letting the girls attend school was so that after graduation they could marry into good families and fetch a larger bride price.

Both of Li Ruolan’s older sisters had their marriages arranged as soon as they graduated from high school. The eldest sister was outright sold by Father Li and Mother Li in exchange for a bride price.

The second sister was capable. She found a job and moved out of the house.

The dream suddenly stopped there. Li Ruolan opened her eyes and saw her own ceiling.

“What the heck was that? Those Li parents don’t deserve to be called human—all they care about is their son!” Thinking of everything in the dream, Li Ruolan was so angry her chest ached.

That was true son preference—daughters were just there to be sold, all to raise their precious son. Just thinking about it made Li Ruolan furious.

While she was still fuming, Deng Minghao suddenly sat up, rubbing his head. “I don’t know what’s going on, but I dreamed all night long. In the dream, there was someone with the exact same name as me, with memories from childhood all the way up.”

Li Ruolan was startled. “Don’t tell me it was about things from the fifties or sixties?”

Deng Minghao stared at her wide-eyed, and after a long moment said, “Yes. I remember that in the dream, that Deng Minghao was born in the capital city, and he even had a classmate also named Li Ruolan, who had two older sisters…”

Li Ruolan rubbed her aching head. “Honey, I had the exact same dream as you. If nothing unexpected has happened, the two of us might be about to transmigrate into a book.”

“Could it be a coincidence?” Deng Minghao said after a long silence.

Neither of them spoke, sitting facing each other in silence. Suddenly, Li Ruolan said, “I also think it’s probably a coincidence. It was just a dream—maybe it was just what we were thinking about during the day showing up at night.

But if we really are about to transmigrate into a book, something inexplicable will definitely happen to us—like a golden finger, or a supernatural ability, or a Dimensional Space or something like that…”

Li Ruolan’s jaw dropped, and once again she and Deng Minghao sat facing each other in silence.

Because just moments ago, when Li Ruolan said the words “Dimensional Space,” she and Deng Minghao had actually appeared inside a space.

The two exchanged a glance, and with a single thought, they returned to their own bed at home. Another thought, and they were back in the space.

“Looks like you were right—we really are going to transmigrate into a book.” Finally, Deng Minghao spoke these words, breaking the silence.

The two sat on the bed, pondering their lives for a long while. Then Li Ruolan said, “Since we’re going to transmigrate into a book, we need to start preparing.

Once we transmigrate, this world will probably end for us. We’re both only children, and we don’t have kids yet, so the only thing to worry about is our parents’ retirement.

Let’s sell the house, split the money in half, and transfer it to both sets of parents.”

Deng Minghao had no objections. Since they didn’t know when the transmigration would happen, the two didn’t dare waste a single moment. They even stopped going to work and went straight to handling business.

Deng Minghao took full charge of selling the house, while Li Ruolan handled matters in the space.

Their space wasn’t large—just five mu of black soil, with a well right in the middle. The well water was milky white and gave off a fragrance. Li Ruolan knew this must be the legendary spiritual spring water.

To the left of the well was a small wooden cabin, and to the right was a warehouse. That was everything in the space.

Since all the money was to be left for their parents’ retirement, Li Ruolan didn’t plan to stockpile supplies. She only bought a lot of seeds and planted the entire space.

After confirming that she couldn’t plant things with her mind in the space, and that the spiritual spring water couldn’t accelerate growth, Li Ruolan bought a seeding tool online. Then, every evening, the couple would go into the space to plant crops.

They planted one mu each of wheat, corn, and upland rice, half a mu of sweet potatoes, and half a mu of cotton. For the last mu, they fenced off most of it to raise chickens, ducks, geese, cattle, sheep, and pigs, and planted vegetables on the rest.

The chickens, ducks, and geese they bought were all half-grown chicks—twenty of each. The space was warm in winter and cool in summer anyway, and presumably free of bacteria, so they shouldn’t die.

They only bought two calves, which cost quite a bit of money, and just four each of sheep and pigs—one male and three females.

Behind the wooden cabin in the space, and beside the chicken and duck pens, Li Ruolan also planted some fruit trees. With that, the space was completely filled.

Four months passed like this. The house had been sold, and the money transferred to their parents’ accounts—they kept only 30,000 yuan for themselves.

They used that 30,000 yuan to buy essential daily supplies.

When Li Ruolan and Deng Minghao transferred such a large sum to them, both sets of parents called to ask what was going on.

After discussing it, Li Ruolan and Deng Minghao went home and told both sets of parents about the possibility of transmigrating.

They also gave their parents a large amount of spiritual spring water to store, hoping it would help improve their health.

Over those four months, all the crops in the space had matured. Li Ruolan and Deng Minghao spent over a week busy in the space harvesting everything.

One thousand jin of wheat, one thousand jin of upland rice, one thousand jin of corn, 1,500 jin of sweet potatoes, and 400 jin of cotton.

After that, they also harvested a good amount of vegetables, potatoes, and the like.

After the wheat and rice were harvested, they were hulled with the foot-powered multi-function huller. The wheat was spread out to dry in the Dimensional Space, and within a few days it was completely dry.

The rice was stored directly in the Dimensional Space’s warehouse, ready to be taken out and eaten whenever they wanted.

Deng Minghao somehow borrowed a flour mill and rented a warehouse. The two of them spent several days milling, and finally turned all one thousand jin of wheat into flour.

After the corn was picked, all the corn stalks were cut down to be used as fodder for the cattle and sheep. The corn was shelled with a hand-cranked thresher and then ground with a hand-cranked grinder, to be kept for feeding the chickens, ducks, geese, and pigs.

The corn roots were left in the fields, but by the next day they had vanished—just like the animal manure, all automatically absorbed by the Dimensional Space.

After the crops were harvested, Li Ruolan and Deng Minghao rested for a whole day, then planted everything with new crops. Only then did they finally have time to rest properly.
