Friday at noon, Li Cheng packaged up all the evidence and sent it to Li Shun’an.
Tomorrow was the weekend, so he could take a hard beating and still have two days to recover.
How considerate of him.
In the chairman’s office, Li Tinghan leaned against Li Shun’an’s chair and reached out to knead his shoulders.
“Lord Chairman, about the funding for that project…”
Just then, a message came in on his phone. Li Shun’an looked at the photos Li Cheng had sent and instantly burned with rage. He was just about to pick up the phone when Li Tinghan sharply noticed that her father’s mood was off.
“Dad?” Li Tinghan frowned. “What are you going to do?”
She had heard the whole story from her mother earlier, but hadn’t her father said he would not interfere in this matter anymore?
Why did it feel like… whenever her father encountered anything related to Li Miao, he became a completely different person?
He was clearly such a calm and gentlemanly person in ordinary times.
“Of course I’m going to call and teach that unfilial son a lesson…”
Right. Li Shun’an suddenly broke off. Hadn’t he said a few days ago that he would not interfere in this matter anymore?
What was wrong with him?
Li Tinghan sighed, took the phone from Li Shun’an’s hand, and forwarded the photos to Li Miao without changing a thing.
“Trust Little Miao. He can handle it.”
School was over in the afternoon.
Li Cheng was walking home in high spirits when, all of a sudden, a tie stretched out from behind him, tightened around his neck, and with undeniable force dragged him into a nearby alley.
“Help! What are you doing? Ahhh!”
The person behind him kicked Li Cheng in the hollow of the knee, forcing him down onto the ground.
Then that person yanked back Li Cheng’s arm, and Li Cheng immediately let out a pig-like howl.
The person behind him was clearly experienced, using ruthlessly underhanded methods. Every move made Li Cheng scream for his father and mother, but when his clothes were lifted, there wasn’t even a bruise.
The whole thing lasted more than ten minutes, and Li Cheng never even saw the other person’s face.
This was way more sinister than the last time he got slapped in the face.
When Li Cheng was lying on the ground like a dead pig, unable to move, the person behind him finally took mercy on him and walked in front of him.
Through his blurry vision, he saw a pair of men’s seasonal haute couture sports shoes.
A limited edition. In all of Nan’en, only Li Miao had them.
The person slowly crouched down, revealing a face identical to Li Miao’s.
Or rather, this person was Li Miao.
“You!!! How can it be you!!!” Li Cheng’s face was filled with terror as he tried to crawl out of the alley.
Li Miao crouched there, patiently waiting until Li Cheng was almost at the alley entrance before slowly standing up, grabbing Li Cheng by the collar, and dragging him back.
Ten desperate scratch marks were left on the ground.
“Help! I’m going to tell uncle!”
Li Miao suddenly smiled. “Guess why you got beaten up today?”
He knew? How did he know?
“This is what happens when you don’t learn your lesson.” Li Cheng stared at Li Miao in terror. Li Miao smiled beautifully and cruelly, patted his face, and said, “Remember this: don’t mess with me.”
“You can’t afford to offend me.”
Li Cheng had nothing left in his heart but fear. He nodded repeatedly.
He would never snitch again, even if uncle beat Li Miao to death, he still wouldn’t snitch!
He clearly had not planned to provoke Li Miao anymore!
It was Jiang Luo! It was all Jiang Luo’s fault!
“I don’t think you’re suited to stay in A class anymore.” Li Miao suddenly changed the subject. “Is studying in A class pretty hard for you?”
Li Cheng froze for a moment, then nodded repeatedly. “Y-yes… yes! I’ll leave, I’ll leave right now! I’ll go far away!”
“How obedient.” Li Miao smiled. “Get lost.”
Li Cheng scrambled away in a panic.
After Li Cheng left, Li Miao rested in place for a moment before standing up.
Li Cheng really should lose some weight; he was heavy.
Good thing Li Cheng couldn’t fight, or he would not have been able to keep up this act.
Li Miao stood up, shoved his hands into his pockets, and was just about to leave when he looked up and saw someone standing at the entrance of the alley.
The shadow was long, blocking half the sunlight.
It was Shen Yu.
No one knew how long he had been watching.
“A-Yu.” Li Miao was stunned for a second, then put on a carefree smile.
Shen Yu said nothing. He walked closer against the light and held out his hand. “Your hand.”
Li Miao’s gaze flickered. He extended his left hand. “What’s wrong?”
“The other one.” Shen Yu was not so easily fooled.
The two of them deadlocked for a while before Li Miao finally held out his hand.
Li Miao had delicate skin, and after being tossed around like that, the scratch that had nearly healed was red and swollen again.
Shen Yu took off his backpack. Inside were bandages.
He stood right there and carefully began bandaging Li Miao’s hand.
Shen Yu looked at Li Miao’s hand with complete seriousness, while Li Miao looked at Shen Yu without the slightest restraint.
So damn handsome. He really had good taste.
Shen Yu looked up and met Li Miao’s smug expression.
He frowned. What was this guy thinking now?
“I’m tired,” Li Miao said imperiously.
Shen Yu paused, said nothing, turned around, and crouched down in front of Li Miao.
Li Miao smiled and climbed onto Shen Yu’s back.
Shen Yu wrapped his arms around Li Miao’s legs and stood up steadily.
Li Miao lay solidly on his back, his breathing brushing Shen Yu’s cheek, and Shen Yu was completely enveloped by Li Miao’s warmth.
After walking for a while, Li Miao frowned and kicked Shen Yu’s side with his dangling lower leg. “Why are you so slow?”
At this speed, he was practically crawling like a turtle.
Shen Yu gave a quiet hum and sped up a little, though it was hardly much.
Whatever. The longer they walked, the more tired Shen Yu would be, Li Miao thought with wicked satisfaction.
“Do you want to attend next week’s masquerade ball?” Li Miao asked from Shen Yu’s back as he swung his legs.
“Should I want to?” Shen Yu asked.
Li Miao smiled in satisfaction. “I’ll send the clothes to you in advance.”
The masquerade ball was a tradition for Nan’en freshmen. Only noble students could attend, and if special admittees wanted to participate, they had to do so as a noble student’s dance partner.
Even so, in Nan’en’s rigid hierarchy, special admittees still could not enjoy the same treatment as noble students.
Noble students wore purple corsages on their chests, while special admittees wore light blue ones.
This was a good chance for special admittees to get to know the powerful, but not all special admittees wanted to participate, because the masquerade ball had one round that was downright cruel to them.
The noble students would hold a guessing game. Anyone whose identity was guessed would have their corsage removed and be eliminated. The last person left in the entire venue would become the “king” of the ball.
The “king” could choose one of the blue corsages to be his “slave.”
For the rest of the ball, the “slave” had to obey every demand of the “king” unconditionally, including removing the mask.
In the masquerade ball from his previous life, Jiang Luo, who did not understand the rules, was brought into the ball by a malicious noble student and unfortunately became the slave.
It was Shen Xingze who withstood the pressure from the academy’s noble students and took Jiang Luo away from the ball.
He staged a heroic rescue of the beauty in front of the entire academy, and from that day on, everyone tacitly assumed that Shen Xingze and Jiang Luo were a couple.
An unchangeable plot? Li Miao licked his lips. He was determined to change it.
