Shen Siyuan ignored her.
His dark eyes remained fixed on the man’s condition as he shouted to the stunned medical staff nearby,
“Why are you still standing there? Come check on him!”
He Ruchu paused.
Alright then someone clearly didn’t trust her medical skills.
She shrugged indifferently, stood up, and stepped aside to make room for the doctors rushing over.
After examining the man, the doctor arrived at the exact same conclusion she had.
A nurse was instructed to bring a paper bag.
The bag was placed over the man’s nose and mouth so he could rebreathe the air inside.
Very quickly, his condition stabilized.
He Ruchu glanced at the man beside her.
A mischievous smile flickered in her eyes.
Noticing her gaze, a rare trace of awkwardness flashed across Shen Siyuan’s face.
He turned away, avoiding her look.
The doctor soon handed the recovered man over to the police who had just arrived.
With everything settled, Shen Siyuan prepared to leave.
Seeing this, He Ruchu hurried after him.
She still hadn’t thanked him.
“Shen Siyuan, thank you for saving me.”
Her beautiful almond-shaped eyes stared at him sincerely.
To be honest, whenever she recalled the way he had appeared like a hero descending from the sky moments ago, her heart couldn’t stop pounding.
The overwhelming gratitude made her completely forget that she had promised to stay away from him.
Shen Siyuan didn’t respond.
He simply continued walking.
He Ruchu didn’t mind his coldness and was about to say something else when her eyes accidentally landed on his arm.
She immediately froze.
There was a wound on his arm.
He had likely received it while subduing the attacker.
Though it wasn’t serious, it was still bleeding.
The words on her lips instantly changed.
“Shen Siyuan, wait for me. Just a few minutes. I’ll be right back…”
Before she even finished speaking, she had already run off.
Shen Siyuan paused briefly.
Following her gaze, he glanced at the injury on his arm before expressionlessly continuing on his way.
He Ruchu ran through the hospital and quickly managed to obtain some medicine for treating wounds.
However, when she returned, Shen Siyuan was nowhere to be seen.
Still, she had expected as much.
With a helpless shrug, she thought,
Fine. Time to go home.
Unexpectedly, after leaving the hospital and waiting for the bus, she spotted him again.
He had only just come out of the hospital.
After some thought, she ran toward him.
After all, his injury was partly connected to her.
“Shen Siyuan.”
Panting slightly, she stopped in front of him.
“Your arm is injured. Let me treat it.”
The man cast her a cold glance and said nothing, simply moving past her.
Tired of talking to herself, He Ruchu grabbed his arm, tucked it under her own, and began cleaning the wound with antiseptic.
By the time Shen Siyuan reacted and tried to pull his arm back, she had already noticed.
Without much force, she lightly smacked his arm.
Looking up at him, she scolded softly,
“Behave. Stop moving.”
Then she continued treating the wound.
Shen Siyuan stiffened almost imperceptibly.
His dark eyes remained fixed on her.
For a brief moment, he felt as though he could no longer understand the woman before him.
The confusion disappeared almost as quickly as it came.
His gaze sharpened with caution.
“What exactly are you trying to do?”
He Ruchu was slightly stunned.
Her black pearl-like eyes looked sincere and earnest.
“I just want to heal your injuries and make up for what I did before…”
And then, once we’re even, I’ll leave without regrets.
Her beautiful eyes seemed capable of drawing people in.
Shen Siyuan calmly looked away and said coldly,
“No need.”
The greatest compensation she could offer him was simply to stop bothering him.
Knowing further explanations were useless, He Ruchu shut up and continued tending to the wound.
As he watched her skillful movements, Shen Siyuan suddenly remembered the scene from earlier when she had treated the hostage-taker.
He also recalled what she had said before.
Could it be… she really knows medicine?
While he was lost in thought, He Ruchu quickly finished dressing the wound.
“Done. Don’t let it get wet. Change the dressing two or three times a day.”
As she spoke, she stuffed the remaining medicine into his hands.
Afterward, she lifted her face to look at him.
“I need to talk to you about something important.”
All the chaos from earlier had nearly made her forget the crucial matter of stopping him from registering their marriage.
“Shen Siyuan, about what you said before about marrying me…”
“Enough!”
Shen Siyuan interrupted her with a dark expression.
Hah!
There she was again, urging marriage.
Was she really that desperate to marry him?
“Don’t worry.”
“You’ll get exactly what you want.”
He Ruchu blinked in surprise.
Had he finally realized that she genuinely didn’t want him to marry her?
Her eyes curved into a smile.
“Shen Siyuan, thank you. And don’t worry, I’ll still make up for everything I did before.”
His expression immediately turned colder.
Just as he thought.
Her objective had never changed.
She really was a talented actress.
Unwilling to listen to any more of her seemingly hypocritical words, he shook off her hand and climbed into a nearby jeep.
Meanwhile, He Ruchu paid no attention to his indifference.
Having resolved what she believed was a major problem, she was in an excellent mood.
Smiling brightly, she waved goodbye.
Inside the vehicle, Shen Siyuan caught sight of this through the corner of his eye.
His face darkened even further.
He slammed on the accelerator.
The jeep shot forward like an arrow released from its bow.
“Cough! Cough! Cough!”
The dust and exhaust left in its wake struck He Ruchu before she could dodge.
Covering her nose and mouth, she glanced at the disappearing vehicle before turning toward the bus stop.
Considering all the harm the original owner of her body had caused him, she generously decided not to hold his infuriating behavior against him.
At the entrance of the residential compound.
Shen Siyuan was driving toward the gate when someone suddenly blocked his path.
Looking through the window, he recognized the man.
He Yi’an.
The notorious troublemaker who had recently returned from the Northwest.
And also
He Ruchu’s second older brother.
Shen Siyuan’s sharp brows furrowed.
He stopped the jeep.
Striding forward, He Yi’an pounded on the window and gritted out,
“Shen! Get out here!”
Shen Siyuan looked at him calmly.
“What do you want?”
“What do I want?”
He Yi’an clenched his teeth harder.
“You know exactly what you did to my little sister!”
The temperature in Shen Siyuan’s black eyes dropped instantly.
Too annoyed to waste words, he said,
“Move.”
“In your dreams.”
He Yi’an stood his ground, staring at him.
“If you’re a man, get out of the car!”
Those words struck directly at Shen Siyuan’s sorest wound.
He let out a cold laugh.
The next second, he threw open the door and stepped out.
Without another word, He Yi’an swung his fist.
All the gossip he’d heard on the way here had filled him with rage.
His punch was fierce and merciless.
But before it could land on Shen Siyuan
a girl’s anxious cry rang out behind them.
“Stop! He Yi’an, stop right now!”
