Game Upgrade – Deploying Territory Residents

Teaming up with others makes time fly. If your teammates are chatty, time flies even faster—and in the blink of an eye, it was already the last day of the dungeon.

Yun Yan felt that she had never experienced a dungeon as easy as this one.Full novel: A life-focused player, yet with explosive combat strength — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She even got to open a mini-boss treasure chest in this dungeon!

At the same time, she gained a clearer understanding of Yan Yiqiu’s damage output.

Previously, when facing a mutated python about five or six meters long, Yun Yan struck first and coordinated with her battle pet twice. Those two attacks probably only shaved off a single layer of the mini-boss’s health.

Then Yan Yiqiu acted. She was holding nothing more than the chisel from the newbie gift pack—one swing, and the python was instantly dead, without even a chance to struggle.

Because Yun Yan had also dealt some damage, she received rewards and a treasure chest after the mini-boss was defeated.

In addition, the two of them also took down mutated mosquito mini-bosses.

And the mutated leech mini-boss in the river.

Speaking of leeches, the dungeon’s mutated ones were a full two meters long, their mouths about the size of a human face. One bite could crush bones, not just suck blood dry.

Yun Yan nearly jumped out of her skin the first time she saw it. Normally she fought close-range alongside her pet, but that time she grabbed a bow and stayed far away, shooting from a distance.

Soft-bodied worms were disgusting!

A tiny one is gross; magnified several times, it’s downright horrifying!

[Dungeon Closed.]

Ten days had passed; the third dungeon was over.

Yan Yiqiu sensed familiar energy fluctuations around her. Yun Yan’s clear voice lingered in her ears, but the girl was no longer visible.

[Player will return to territory. Next dungeon start time: TBD.]

[Main quest time reached. Game upgrade imminent.]

Yan Yiqiu straightened up, her muscles tensing slightly.

[Players whose territories have not reached level 5, please choose: 1. Continue defending your territory, 2. Join another player’s territory. (Lords have absolute control.)]

Yan Yiqiu’s territory was already level 6, so no choice prompt appeared on her screen.

Same as in her previous life.

When the main quest ends, players with territories below level 5 get a choice: they can give up their territory and merge into another player’s. They lose their lord status, but it’s better than dying when monsters attack.

The system is both merciful and cruel: it gives players a choice, but doesn’t explain what happens if the territory is below level 5, and reminds them that lords have absolute control.

Indeed, a lord in their own territory is almost like a local emperor, able to control everything—including residents. Anyone displeasing them can be expelled.

Residents without territory protection who fail to find another safe territory will quickly die to monsters. So ambitious players rarely want to join someone else’s territory.

Of course, this all assumes the territory is safe.

Yan Yiqiu’s thoughts drifted, interrupted by a private message notification.

[Yun Yan: Sis~~ sis! I want to join you! (points finger)]

[Yun Yan: I don’t want to manage a territory—it seems too troublesome. Sis, let me join you and serve you loyally! (starry eyes)]

[Yan Yiqiu: …]

[Yan Yiqiu: Didn’t you see the system notice? Lords have absolute control. If I ever dislike you, I can expel you from the territory.]

[Yun Yan: If you dislike me, it must be because I did something wrong—being expelled would be fair!]

[Yun Yan: Sis~ please let me join!]

Yan Yiqiu was stunned for a moment by Yun Yan’s persistence, then finally agreed.

[Yan Yiqiu: I won’t expel you casually.]

Unless Yun Yan did something to truly betray her.

[Yun Yan: Yay! I knew my sister is the best!]

[Player Yun Yan requests to join your territory. Do you agree?]

—Agree.

[Current territory residents: 1]

The next moment, a new figure appeared in what had been a single-person territory.

The twin-tailed little girl waddled over, cooing in her sweet, doll-like voice: “Sis~ I’m here~”

“System just returned half of my construction materials,” Yun Yan continued, now in complaint mode: “So unfair! I spent so much wood and ore upgrading to level 4, and they only gave back half.”

“Good thing I didn’t reach level 5, sis! All these materials are yours!”

Yun Yan tossed the returned materials to Yan Yiqiu like a hot potato, looking noticeably relieved. Yan Yiqiu accepted them without hesitation.

Yun Yan then looked around.

In the center stood a two-story villa. Nearby were fertile soil plots and a water well. All the planted fruit, grains, and cotton had ripened, heavy on the branches.

The warehouse was slightly off to the side, next to a piece of machinery.

Yun Yan realized just how large her sister’s territory was.

“Sis, how many square meters is this?”

Yan Yiqiu: “20,000 sq. meters.”

Yun Yan’s eyes went wide: “No wonder!”

“Later I’ll explain,” Yan Yiqiu replied, busy as she directed Yun Yan to harvest the ripe fruits and store them.

“Okay~”

Yun Yan gleefully ran to the planting area, becoming a diligent little farmer, humming a tune as she worked.

Yan Yiqiu focused on the interface.

A few minutes later, new panels appeared: aside from [Chat Channel] and [Marketplace], there were [Player Forum], [Non-Player Forum], [Territory Management (Lord Only)], [Leaderboard].

Yan Yiqiu opened Territory Management.

[Please name your territory.]

She thought briefly and chose a seemingly simple but fitting name:

[Nirvana]

[Name confirmed!]

[Territory: Nirvana]

[Lord: Yan Yiqiu]

[Territory Level: 6]

[Residents: 1]

[Territory Administrators: 0 (up to 3)]

[Buildings: 6]

[Plantable Soil: 60]

[Livestock Area: Locked]

[Warehouse: 50]

She assigned Yun Yan as a territory administrator, giving her access to the warehouse and shop.

A territory layout appeared on the screen; as lord, she could move anything—reposition planting plots, warehouses, etc.

She threw all the ores from her bag into the warehouse.

Warehouse storage per slot: 99,999+, far exceeding a player’s backpack.

Currently: Tier 1 ore ~230,000; Tier 2 ~100,000; Tier 3 ~80,000. No Tier 4 ore was found in the third dungeon, so she couldn’t upgrade to level 7.

Other than ores, the warehouse held fruits, seeds, and materials like cement bricks. Anticipating a batch of incoming residents, she opened the territory shop and bought all daily-limited materials.

[Player Level: 8 (1221/50,000)]

[Stamina: 300/300]

[Energy: 300/300]

[HP: 16,000/16,000 (with defensive gear)]

[Fullness: 89]

[Life Professions: Beginner Cook (5), Carpenter (4), Tailor (4), Apothecary (5), Architect (3), Mechanical Engineer (Level 2)…]

She might be the highest-level player currently.

Before she could dwell on that thought, multiple prompts popped up:

[Player ranks first in Cooking, Apothecary, Tailor, Carpenter… Leaderboards. Display real name?]

[Player’s territory ranks first on Territory Leaderboard. Display real name?]

[Player ranks first on Wealth Leaderboard. Display real name?]

Yan Yiqiu didn’t hesitate: “No, no, no! Anonymous!”

Half of the life professions were her name—she didn’t want to draw attention. Leaderboards gave no real reward, just empty prestige.

[Game upgrade completed.]

[Deploying territory residents—]

[Note: Territory residents are humans from the same world as players who didn’t meet the age requirement to enter the game. Players’ friends and family are directly deployed to their territories; those without relatives or friends are deployed randomly (ages under 18 or over 45 cannot enter).]

[Dear player, since Yun Yan chose to merge into your territory, you will receive two batches of residents. Please check.]

“Sis!” Yun Yan pointed to the main gate: “So many people are appearing there!”

As a non-lord, Yun Yan didn’t get the lord-related notifications.

She had just stored the harvested fruits when she glanced at the gate and saw a massive crowd—easily over a thousand.

Yun Yan hadn’t seen so many people at once since entering the game!

Yan Yiqiu looked as well: “These are our territory residents, from the same world as us.”

“Let’s go welcome them.”

Yun Yan hurried to follow: “Okay~”

The residents were deployed right outside the gate, within the defensive shield.

Yan Yiqiu opened the sturdy gate and roughly scanned them—all looked anxious and frightened.

“Come in,” she said.

Before the residents were deployed, the system had already given a rough explanation, so Yan Yiqiu didn’t have to spend extra effort explaining the situation to them, which saved a lot of time. Once everyone had entered the territory, she closed the gates again.

Just as she was about to speak, she suddenly heard Yun Yan shout: “Dad! Mom!?”

Yan Yiqiu: “?”

She turned and saw Yun Yan staring at a couple in the crowd, tears welling up in her eyes. The couple didn’t look young anymore; their hair was largely gray.

The man wore glasses and appeared scholarly. The woman stood straight and elegant, her features bearing some resemblance to Yun Yan.

“Yan Yan?”

The couple also looked surprised and delighted, quickly stepping forward from the crowd. They surrounded Yun Yan, examining her carefully to see if she was hurt.

The three of them stood with tears in their eyes, on the verge of crying.

Yan Yiqiu called out to Yun Yan: “Take uncle and auntie inside to chat.”

Gratefully, Yun Yan nodded and led her parents toward the only two-story villa.

Once they had walked away, Yan Yiqiu’s cheerful expression turned cold and businesslike.

“Let me introduce myself—I am the lord of this territory.” She didn’t waste words and stated briskly: “I will only give you temporary resident ID cards for now. If you want to become official residents, that depends on your own efforts.”

A murmur ran through the crowd.

“W-what does that mean?”

“How can we work to stay here?”

“What’s the difference between temporary and official?”

“….”

Those placed here by the system were mostly people without any friends or relatives. Suddenly entering the game and being told that they’d die if they couldn’t find a territory to shelter in, fear gripped them.

Yan Yiqiu’s cold, businesslike demeanor only deepened their anxiety, and they quickly promised to do whatever it took just to stay in the territory.

She first explained the difference between temporary and official residents.

Temporary residents have a time limit; once it expires, they are automatically expelled from the territory. Official residents have no time limit, and the system issues them a smartwatch representing their resident status.

The smartwatch has networking functions, and the previously launched Non-Player Forum was designed for them.

In short: official residents enjoy more benefits, temporary residents are unstable.

As for how to become an official resident…

Yan Yiqiu smiled but said nothing. Instead, she sent Yun Yan a message to ask how the conversation was going.

[Yun Yan: Almost done! I thought I’d never see them again. I sent so many messages in the chat channel every day, and no one ever replied—I thought… they hadn’t even logged into the game!]

[Yun Yan: Now I can finally relax.]

[Yan Yiqiu: Since you’re relieved, come help me register these people outside.]

[Yan Yiqiu: Record their names, ages, and skills clearly so I can make arrangements later.]

[Yun Yan: Got it! I’ll get my parents to help too.]

[Yun Yan: My dad’s a university professor, my mom’s a dancer~ If there’s anything they can help with, just ask—they’re very grateful for how you took care of me in the dungeon!]

[Yan Yiqiu: Fine, let uncle and auntie help too.]

This was a time when extra hands were needed.

Yan Yiqiu immediately upgraded Yun Yan’s parents to official residents of the territory.

As Yun Yan’s parents were about to leave the villa, they suddenly noticed a silver object on their wrists, resembling a smartwatch, and froze in surprise.

“What’s this?” Yun Yan’s father tapped it tentatively, and a semi-transparent panel appeared, visible only to him.

[Name: Yun Zhiyuan]

[Status: Official resident of the Nirvana Territory]

[Personal Assets: 0]

[Resident Account: *********]

Yun Yan, as a territory manager, received a notification and smiled brightly: “This is your symbol of being official residents! See, Sister Yiqiu is really nice—she upgraded you and mom directly because of me!”

Yun Yan’s father curiously fiddled with the watch: “Then you better repay them properly—you owe them for saving your life and helping you get through that dungeon!”

Yun Yan’s eyes widened, indignant: “Dad! Do you think I’m the ungrateful type!?”

“Don’t listen to your dad; he can’t speak properly,” Yun Yan’s mother said gently, brushing her hair back and softly adding, “Go help now.”

Muttering, Yun Yan led her parents out of the villa.

Yan Yiqiu had already started registering people, with a long line before her.

Seeing this, Yun Yan immediately joined the line with her parents.

Yan Yiqiu sent the registration form privately to Yun Yan so she could also help her parents fill it in.

The four of them worked nearly two hours to complete the registration.

[Lord: Yan Yiqiu]

[Territory Level: 6]

[Resident Count: 6,587 (3 official, 6,584 temporary)]

[Territory Managers: 1]

Over six thousand people. Luckily, her territory was large enough.

About 1,500 were minors; the rest were over 45, with 1,000 over 65.

After registration, Yan Yiqiu looked at the eager temporary residents and said: “Once you earn 1,000 points, you can become official residents.”

“And soon, there will be an opportunity to earn points.”

Before that, she had to be busy for a while.

The game had upgraded, the residents had been deployed, and players had nearly two days of preparation time. In two days, the protective barrier around the territory would vanish, the fog would disperse, and monsters would besiege the territory.

This was both a crisis and a chance for a big harvest.

Monsters dropped treasure chests upon death.

Of course, what’s inside was purely a matter of luck.

Yan Yiqiu planned to prepare weapons beforehand to distribute to temporary residents, so they could fight on the walls.

But she couldn’t make six thousand weapons.

Not only were some residents too old to fight, but some were too young. This wasn’t child labor exploitation—it would be toddler labor.

Yan Yiqiu wasn’t cruel to that extent.

After the monster siege, those under ten and over sixty-five would become official residents. But that didn’t mean they’d do nothing; her territory didn’t harbor pure layabouts.

Once the territory reached level 7 and unlocked farming, slightly capable residents would take turns feeding small animals.

Safe, not dangerous.

Yan Yiqiu crafted bow and crossbow weapons.

Yun Yan helped residents build houses, led by those with construction experience. The registration forms now proved useful, revealing several people who had worked on construction sites.

Labor earned points, and the houses built would later become their residences.

Although Yan Yiqiu had the Architect profession, she couldn’t do everything herself—her own house was her responsibility!

Repeating weapon crafting was tedious.

Yan Yiqiu opened the chat channel.

As expected, it was bustling.

[Chat Channel · Outside the Dungeon (Huaguo Server 19872)]

[Wow, suddenly I’m a territory lord—why am I excited? So many people! I’ve only managed people as a class rep in elementary school, any advice from pros?]

[Phew, glad I reached level 5, or my territory wouldn’t hold everyone!]

[I’m not level 5 yet… what happens if you don’t reach it? The system doesn’t say, I’m so anxious, I don’t want to abandon my territory, it’s more comfortable at home!]

[Most residents are old, weak, or disabled—what use are they? I work for them? Ridiculous!]

[You can have them work. Ask what they’re good at and assign jobs accordingly. I have several who worked on construction, now they’re helping me build houses!]

[Thanks for the tip! I was worried how to organize them~]

The chat focused on managing territory residents; hardly anyone mentioned main quests or dungeon schedules.

Yan Yiqiu, after a short while, set aside the components she was handling and went to the smelting equipment to put in ore.

Once the steel was made, she crafted nearly a hundred iron pots and stoves, then turned to see the temporary residents working hard. Without profession bonuses, they were very slow.

She opened the registration list and called out about a hundred names, explaining their task amid nervous faces: “You’ll cook meals, and each time you get 50 points.”

“Yes, Lord!”

Preparing meals for over six thousand people was a massive task, requiring a lot of ingredients.

Luckily, Yan Yiqiu had stocked plenty of low-quality beast meat from previous dungeon preparations. In this game, even low-quality meat contained enough energy to keep residents fed for a day.

There was enough meat, though not much rice. Eating meat alone was acceptable.

Cook some minced meat soup or something, make sure they eat their fill.

Meanwhile, Yan Yiqiu, together with Yun Yan and his parents, entered the small villa.

On the dining table were braised fish, braised pork, crispy pork, spare rib soup, and four bowls of steaming white rice.

“Uncle, Auntie, please don’t be formal, have a seat.” Seeing Yun Yan’s parents a bit nervous, Yan Yiqiu smiled and spoke warmly.

Yan Yiqiu had striking features—when not smiling, she looked intimidating, and coupled with her status, she gave off a strong sense of pressure. But when she smiled, her beautiful, delicate eyes curved like crescents, and all her aggressiveness vanished instantly, making her look completely harmless.

Before entering the game, Yun Yan’s father had been a university professor, speaking very politely: “My lady, thank you for taking care of Yan Yan in the game. If there’s anything we can do in the future, please don’t hesitate to ask us.”

Yan Yiqiu replied: “Calling me ‘my lady’ is a bit too formal. You can just call me Yiqiu.”

Yun Yan nodded vigorously: “Exactly, Dad, I’m really close with Sister Yiqiu.”

Yun Yan’s father froze for a moment…

Silly daughter, even if you’re close, you still need to mind boundaries!

Yan Yiqiu didn’t have the habit of letting people call her ‘my lady.’ She only allowed it in front of other residents to maintain authority in their eyes. Seeing her speak seriously, Yun Yan’s father readily adjusted how he addressed her.

The atmosphere was fairly harmonious.

“Uncle Yun, Auntie Yun, I’ll be appointing you as territory managers,” Yan Yiqiu said calmly while eating, “Yun Yan and I won’t always stay in the territory. Once the dungeon opens, we’ll enter it to collect resources.”

“When we enter the dungeon, we’ll need you two to take care of the territory and manage it well.”

Yun Yan’s father hesitated: “Isn’t that… a bit improper?”

They all entered the territory together, yet suddenly he was made a manager. He worried the other residents might not accept it.

Yan Yiqiu said lightly: “I’m the lord; choosing who becomes a manager is my decision. Those who don’t like it can move to another territory.”

Residents have the option to change territories once a month. If they feel uncomfortable in their current territory, they can choose a different one on the day of change—but the new territory is random, and no one can guarantee it will be better.

Not all territory lords are as wealthy as her. After only three dungeons, many players still have few resources or materials; it’s common for territory residents to sometimes go hungry.

“Alright.” Compared with Yun Yan’s father’s hesitation, Yun Yan’s mother was decisive. She nodded gently: “Once we enter the dungeon, I’ll help oversee the territory.”

“I used to run a dance studio, so I have some management experience.”

Yun Yan smiled sweetly: “Sister Yiqiu, my mom is amazing. If you let her manage, she’ll make sure everything runs perfectly!”

Yan Yiqiu: “Then that’s a favor to Auntie Yun.”

Yun Yan’s mother: “Not a problem, I’m happy to help.”

After finishing the meal, Yan Yiqiu left the villa to continue making weapons.

Meanwhile, the temporary residents had only finished half their meals. With a hundred pots on the stoves, the cooks were sweating profusely while frying dishes. From an outsider’s perspective, it looked like a massive banquet assembly line. Those who had finished eating went back to work, eager to earn enough points to become official residents.

Inside the villa, the family of three chatted quietly:

“Why did you agree to this?” Yun Yan’s father frowned slightly. “There are so many people—what if management fails?”

Yun Yan’s mother was calm: “How could it fail? Yiqiu has already assigned them tasks; we just need to supervise.”

“The territory is just starting, and Yiqiu lacks reliable manpower. If you seize this opportunity, by the time the territory stabilizes, you won’t get this chance.”

“Being someone who contributes meaningfully to the territory also ensures Yan Yan’s safety in the dungeon.”

Yun Yan exclaimed a bit confusedly: “I’m already safe! Sister Yiqiu is awesome!”

“Yes, your Sister Yiqiu is very capable,” Yun Yan’s mother said with a gentle smile, patting her daughter’s fluffy head. “You also need to work hard and not let her down, okay?”

Yun Yan pouted: “I’m working hard! Many players aren’t as strong as me.”

“Indeed, our Yan Yan works the hardest.”

Two days passed in the blink of an eye.

Yan Yiqiu had made over a thousand bows and crossbows, and the territory’s buildings gradually took shape.

She first had the residents construct a large hall that could accommodate everyone. It was simpler than apartment buildings, and with enough manpower, it was completed in two days, just on time.

When Yun Yan’s mother came to check, the semi-transparent protective shield over the territory had just disappeared, and the mist outside the walls dissipated.

A synthesized female voice sounded in their ears:

【The first wave of monsters will arrive in ten minutes. All lords, please prepare for defense.】

Yun Yan, having heard the warning, ran over anxiously: “Sister Yiqiu, the system says there are monsters. What’s happening?”

“Monsters outside the dungeon too??”

This wasn’t the time for explanations.

Yan Yiqiu’s expression turned serious: “Have all residents gather in the hall.”

“Okay, I’ll go notify them.” Yun Yan’s mother, although not prompted by the system, saw the tense expressions of her daughter and Yan Yiqiu, and quickly turned to leave.

Ten minutes was tight, but Yan Yiqiu had already prepared in advance, so it was just enough.

She reached the hall and said briefly that monsters would attack the territory. To prevent panic, she continued:

“Our territory walls are very sturdy; monsters cannot break through.”

“I need a group of brave people to come with me to the walls to hunt the monsters.”

“Those willing, come get weapons from me.”

The crowd exchanged glances. Most residents looked scared or anxious, some hesitated.

“I’ll go!” Yun Yan’s father raised his hand first.

With him leading, others gradually stepped forward.

Most were teenagers between 13 and 17, who were braver, while the rest were middle-aged people between 45 and 55 who refused to back down.

Yun Yan and Yan Yiqiu distributed weapons to the volunteers.

“Follow me. The rest stay in the hall. Auntie Yun, please watch over them.”

Yun Yan’s mother nodded: “I will, don’t worry. Go ahead and do your work.”

She took out cloth and cotton Yan Yiqiu had prepared earlier and gathered people to sew quilts and other daily items.

Yan Yiqiu led the residents up the walls.

Outside, the gray mist had cleared, revealing dark-brown soil and dead weeds and trees. Occasionally, a few crows perched on dead branches, tilting their heads and staring at the territory with red eyes, making harsh cawing noises.

Yun Yan whispered: “The environment outside is awful…”

“Otherwise, how would monsters appear?” Yan Yiqiu replied casually, glancing at the nervous residents with calm authority:

“Divide into three teams to guard the east, west, and south. The north will be managed by me and Yun.”

“Don’t worry, the walls are strong; the monsters won’t get through.”

“What you need to do is take up your weapons, aim at the monsters, and kill them.”

“One monster is worth fifty points. After a monster dies, it will drop a treasure chest. Whoever kills it gets the chest. The items inside can either be kept for yourselves or given to me in exchange for points.”

Hearing that killing monsters earns points—and that the loot can be kept—everyone immediately perked up.

Seeing the excitement flicker in their eyes, Yan Yiqiu nodded with satisfaction and went with Yun Yan to the northern wall.

“Sis, how did you know that killing monsters would drop chests?” Yun Yan asked curiously.

Yan Yiqiu casually made up a reason: “Even the small monsters inside dungeons drop loot. It makes no sense that monsters outside wouldn’t—it would be a waste of effort for us otherwise.”

Yun Yan thought about it and nodded in agreement.

“There should be quite a few monsters. You just stay on the wall and don’t go down, so nothing happens to you,” Yan Yiqiu reminded him.

“I’ll be careful!” Yun Yan nodded obediently.

She acknowledged with a hum.

In the blink of ten minutes, a swarm of fast-moving black shapes appeared in the hazy distance.

They moved extremely quickly, revealing their true forms: mutated beasts, their eyes blazing red as if provoked, charging wildly toward the territory. Their numbers were countless.

Dust flew into the air, creating an immense sense of pressure for the residents.

Even though the lord had repeatedly emphasized that the walls were strong and the monsters couldn’t break through, seeing this scene still caused fear and panic, making it hard to release arrows.

Everyone froze, legs weak.

“Whoosh—”

A crossbow bolt shot forward.

It came from a boy about fourteen or fifteen. His lips were pressed tight, his youthful face tense, and though his hands trembled from fear, he still managed to shoot into the horde of beasts.

Seeing a child control his fear, the nearby middle-aged men exchanged glances, felt inexplicably ashamed, gritted their teeth, and began shooting.

Numbers have their advantages.

Even with eyes closed, arrows would hit a mutant beast without careful aiming.

The mutated beasts slammed into the walls.

However, the reinforced walls, infused with elemental ore, didn’t budge. Some beasts even suffered backlash from the walls’ elemental energy, flipping over instantly upon impact.

Seeing the beasts unable to break through, the residents grew more confident, shooting arrows like crazy.

The beasts had thick health bars, requiring multiple arrows to kill—but this didn’t dampen the residents’ enthusiasm. While attacking, they mentally counted points: “Fifty points! Hey! One hundred points! Haha! One fifty points…”

The northern side became a one-sided slaughter.

Yun Yan, a level-six combat player, wielded a purple-quality crossbow, killing a mutated beast every three to four shots. His companion Tuanzi struck the beasts with heavy blows in the horde.

The most extreme was Yan Yiqiu.

She grabbed an axe, jumped off the wall, and charged directly into the horde. Her tall, slim frame seemed tiny compared to the massive beasts.

Yet that small figure cut through them effortlessly; no mutated beast could get close.

Seeing this, Yun Yan muttered: “Sis Yiqiu is too strong.”

If there were no info bars above their heads, everyone would think she was a combat player. What ordinary life player could be this strong?

Yun Yan, a real combat player, felt tears welling up.

Yan Yiqiu, unaware of Yun Yan’s inner helplessness, focused on killing monsters and collecting resources.

She chose to guard one side of the wall with Yun Yan alone to prevent residents from seeing her heroic prowess.

She didn’t want the residents, once given official status, going to forums boasting: “Our lord killed her way through the horde like a god, seven in and seven out!”

That would be too flashy. Yan Yiqiu preferred to work quietly.

The beast wave lasted about half an hour.

When time was up, the frenzied mutated beasts calmed down, their red eyes fading as they saw the corpses around them, then howled and fled.

Yan Yiqiu jumped back onto the wall and immediately heard joyful shouts from the other three directions:

“They’re running! They’re running!”

“We drove the monsters away!”

“I think I killed seven or eight monsters… I should get three or four hundred points? The lord said monsters drop loot, hope I get something good and can save up points.”

“You killed a lot… I only got two or three.”

“….”

Successfully repelling the siege, with no casualties, everyone was ecstatic. Their sense of belonging to the territory grew a little.

Yan Yiqiu smiled as she heard their chatter and led them back to the great hall.

The residents inside didn’t know what had happened outside. They only heard the sudden shouts from the walls, and everyone tensed.

When they saw Yan Yiqiu and the others return safely, their tension turned into joy.

Yan Yiqiu stood in the center of the hall as residents eagerly gathered around.

“The monsters have been repelled and won’t return for a while.”

Cheers erupted immediately.

She waited patiently for the crowd to quiet down before continuing: “Next, we’ll count and distribute rewards.”

The dead mutated beasts outside transformed into treasure chests, automatically stored in Yan Yiqiu’s inventory.

“I’ll call the names of residents to collect their points and chests.”

Yan Yiqiu opened the system panel and called names:

“Yun Zhiyuan, killed four mutated beasts, earned 200 points and four treasure chests.”

Yun Yan’s father froze for two seconds, then, nudged by Yun Yan’s mother, stepped forward to take four palm-sized chests from Yan Yiqiu.

Two glowed white, the other two green.

“Dong Yuanwei killed three mutated beasts, earned 150 points and three chests.”

“He Qiqi killed four mutated beasts, earned 200 points and four chests.”

“….”

Those called up excitedly took their chests, some impatiently opening them immediately. Only they could see what was inside.

“Yun Yan, killed 219 mutated beasts, earned 10,950 points and 219 treasure chests.”

Everyone’s eyes turned to him in awe, shock, and envy.

Yun Yan’s pupils widened: “I have points too?”

“Of course, you’re part of the territory,” Yan Yiqiu said, handing over the chests. “Points can also be exchanged for currency, aside from official resident status.”

“Ten points for one copper coin.”

Once the territory stabilizes, meals won’t be free; residents will have to spend money for food.

Residents who fought received their rewards; others watched enviously.

Yan Yiqiu: “Residents who didn’t participate get 100 points as a reward for staying in the hall.”

“These opportunities will only increase, so everyone will have a chance to participate.”

At this, the non-participants’ eyes lit up in anticipation.

After this, Yan Yiqiu gave everyone a day off and asked Yun Yan’s mother to prepare some food to restore energy, then returned to the villa to tally her own gains.
