The future support player wants to join her team?
The number of mutated crimson worker ants was overwhelming, swarming in dense numbers. The team closest to the fork in the path was the first to face them.
Zhao Xingpeng gripped his bow and fired several arrows into the ant swarm, killing only one worker ant. He cursed under his breath, then calmly glanced back and ordered his teammates to retreat, planning to let the two women behind take the front.
But as they retreated, the two behind also pulled back.
Zhao Xingpeng’s face darkened. Unable to hold back, he shouted, “You two, there are too many mutated ants—why don’t we cooperate?”
His words were directed at Yun Yan.
Before entering the dungeon, Yan Yiqiu had already informed Yun Yan that she would lead the team in front of others.
Yun Yan glanced at the private message from Yiqiu, her face tense. She deliberately lowered her voice to seem aloof: “Cooperation works. But it’s fine if your team’s warriors take the front, right?”
Warriors have thick skin and high-defense shields; even if bitten by mutated worker ants a couple of times, they would be fine. Naturally, they should be at the front.
Before Zhao Xingpeng could respond, the warrior player retorted coldly, “Why should I take the front? Doesn’t my life count?”
“Is your shield just decoration?” Yun Yan snapped back loudly. “You’re a warrior, and when you see mobs you cower back. What are you doing in a dungeon? Acting as a lucky charm to be displayed?”
The warrior player snapped, “Easy for you to say. There are so many ants—how could my shield hold them off?”
Yun Yan: “Then there’s nothing more to discuss. Sis, let’s go.”
They took a few steps back, when Zhao Xingpeng sternly shouted, “Zhang Dazhu! They’re right—you have half again as much HP as us, and your shield defense is so high. If you don’t take the front, who will? Go!”
Zhang Dazhu wanted to protest, but seeing Zhao Xingpeng’s dark glare, he swallowed his words and reluctantly took his shield to the front.
Though big in size, he was truly cowardly, shrinking behind his shield and not daring to peek out.
With the warrior at the front, the oncoming mutated worker ants were blocked, making the backline combat players feel instantly relieved.
Yun Yan then moved forward with Tuanzi, stopping half a meter behind Zhang Dazhu, drawing her bow to coordinate with her battle pet to kill the ants.
This bow was crafted by Yan Yiqiu in her territory.
It incorporated elemental ores and poisonous fangs, failing several times before finally producing this green-quality bow.
Though only green-quality, the additional effects were excellent:
Yun Yan’s arrows carefully avoided Tuanzi and struck the ants fighting it.
[Player dealt 2,578 damage to mutated crimson worker ant.]
[Player’s battle pet dealt 1,855 damage to crimson worker ant.]
[Loot: Wood x667, Tier 1 Ore x343, Tier 2 Ore x209, Tier 3 Ore x120, Firefly Sandstone x15, Silver Coins x111, Personal EXP +200, Combat EXP +100.]
Zhao Xingpeng watched Yun Yan silently.
Seeing her coordinate bow and battle pet to kill a worker ant in under half a minute, his eyes flashed with envy and complex emotions.
A level-six combat player could deal this much damage?
Maybe he could find a way to integrate her into his own team.
Distracted for just two seconds, he was bitten twice by a sneaking worker ant, instantly losing around a hundred HP.
Panicked, he immediately cleared his mind and focused on fighting.
Yan Yiqiu stood in the rear corner, occasionally tossing small wooden arrows forward.
Her finely crafted arrows were nearly invisible in the dim corridor, and other players weren’t paying attention, so no one noticed.
They assumed Yun Yan was just that skilled, making the fight seem easy.
While casually fighting, Yan Yiqiu observed Zhao Xingpeng’s team.
When the ant swarm arrived, the two life players instinctively found a secluded spot to crouch, nervously watching the battlefield.
Zhao Xingpeng, the archer, stayed far back firing at the ants.
The warrior led the front, with three other players following: a swordsman, a player with a whip, and a young man holding a beginner gift-package axe, waiting for opportunities to strike.
The young man looked pale, his thin lips tightly pressed, long bangs covering his eyes.
Yan Yiqiu felt he looked familiar, but couldn’t recall from where.
Strangely, though he was listed as a level-3 combat player, he was wielding a beginner axe. Perhaps, like her, he had encountered a bug?
Yan Yiqiu paid attention.
After roughly half an hour, just as Zhang Dazhu was about to collapse from exhaustion, the mutated crimson worker ants finally withdrew.
Once the last ant disappeared from sight, all players collapsed onto the ground, exhausted.
The warrior Zhang Dazhu shouted the loudest: “Ru-jie! Any cold noodles left? My Heat Poison buff is at level two—hurry, I need some!!”
Li Ru glanced at Zhao Xingpeng, got his nod, and proudly took out a portion of cold noodles from her bag, looking at Yan Yiqiu with satisfaction and loudly saying: “Eat up! I have ten more portions—after this, I’ll make more.”
“I’m here—you won’t get Heat Poison buffs with me around.”
Yun Yan murmured softly to Li Ru: “I don’t know what she’s so proud about… you’d think she prepared a feast, the way she’s showing off.”
Yan Yiqiu calmly asked: “Ignore her. Are you about to level up?”
Yun Yan opened her personal panel:
[Player Level: 6 (8,600/10,000)]
[Combat Level: 6 (6,500/8,000)]
[Stamina: 57/100]
[Energy: 61/100]
[HP: 7,000/7,000 (with defensive clothing bonus)]
[Fullness: 65]
“Just 1,500 EXP to level up,” Yun Yan replied obediently.
Yan Yiqiu hummed, but before she could speak further, the other team started arguing.
A sharp female voice rang out: “You’re useless—why eat noodles? Just endure the Heat Poison buff, it won’t kill you!”
Yan Yiqiu looked over.
Li Ru, who had just bragged about having plenty of noodles, stood with her hands on her hips, shouting at the pale young man.
The young man’s face turned even paler, his lips tight: “But I feel terrible now. You have so many—why can’t you give me one?”
“I’ve contributed to the team too, and I can’t even get a single portion?”
“What contribution? You just babble a bit at small mobs. Your buffs hardly work. Xingpeng was just kind to carry a deadweight like you…”
“Ru Ru, watch your words.”
Zhao Xingpeng interrupted Li Ru, turning to comfort the young man: “Jiaze, ignore her. She’s always blunt and speaks without thinking.
Is your Heat Poison buff high? Ru Ru, give Jiaze a portion. Regardless, he did contribute to the team.”
Li Ru pouted, reluctantly took a portion from her bag, and tossed it in front of him with a condescending tone: “Here, eat it!”
Yun Yan was shocked: “Sis, they treat their teammates like this? Aren’t they supposed to help each other?”
Yan Yiqiu said nothing, though inwardly troubled.
From Zhao Xingpeng and Li Ru’s conversation, she deduced the young man’s full name: Wei Jiaze, a support combat player.
Support players grant buffs to teammates before battle, improving all attributes.
Early-game, their buffs are weak and nearly useless.
For example, a level-3 support buff might raise all stats by 0.6% for 10 minutes, with a 2-hour cooldown.
Support players deal low damage, barely more than life players, making them unpopular early on.
Yan Yiqiu remembered Wei Jiaze because he later became a famous “support daddy,” able to boost all teammate stats by 55% for 1.5 hours with a short cooldown—yet a lone wolf.
Though he joined different teams per dungeon, he never fixed a team.
Yan Yiqiu had once cooperated with him to defeat a dungeon boss over four hours thanks to his buffs.
But back then, Wei Jiaze was confident and cold, unlike the current gloomy and self-conscious young man. No wonder she didn’t recognize him immediately.
Rumors from the previous life were true: in early-game, fixed-team members disappointed him, so he avoided permanent teams.
Yan Yiqiu glanced at Zhao Xingpeng, thinking he probably had no idea what he missed—a dream teammate for combat players.
Wei Jiaze gripped his axe, veins bulging, bending to pick up the noodles.
Before he could touch them, Zhang Dazhu snatched them first: “Eating that’s a waste—you didn’t help at all.”
“I should get them—I was in the front and got bitten multiple times!”
Zhao Xingpeng ignored him.
Li Ru, full of disdain: “Useless—you won’t even eat it if I give it to you.”
She then sat beside Zhao Xingpeng, whispering softly about loot or recipes.
Yan Yiqiu watched Wei Jiaze stand for two minutes before silently retreating to a corner, pale.
She thought for two seconds, sent him a friend request, and mailed five green-quality Cooling Pills.
[Wei Jiaze: ?]
[Yan Yiqiu: These will remove your Heat Poison buff.]
[Wei Jiaze: Why are you helping me?]
Of course—he’s a future support daddy, a dream teammate for combat players. If she ever needed him later, a favor would pay off.
[Yan Yiqiu: You seemed in pain. I have extra Cooling Pills. We’re both victims of this game, so here—consider it a goodwill gesture in case you might help me later.]
Reading the message, Wei Jiaze felt a deep sting in his heart.
He and Zhao Xingpeng had been friends since high school, even attending the same university. Zhao Xingpeng’s family was poor; Wei Jiaze helped financially without asking for repayment.
Zhao Xingpeng had promised he’d only consider Wei Jiaze a true brother.
But in the game, once he realized Wei Jiaze was “useless,” his attitude changed.
Outwardly he claimed Wei Jiaze was his good friend, but privately let him be bullied, only occasionally giving condescending help.
Disgusting.
Someone he had known for nearly ten years backstabbed him, yet a new acquaintance offered help—it was ironic.
[Wei Jiaze: Thanks. But my profession is weak early on—I probably can’t help much. My bag only has these materials, take them all.]
Yan Yiqiu received a large stack of white and green-quality materials, including herbs, ingredients, and meteorite—quite a lot for a support player.
Recalling Wei Jiaze using the beginner axe on mutated worker ants, she realized it was not easy for him.
[Yan Yiqiu: I saw you using a beginner axe on small mobs. No equipment drops?]
[Wei Jiaze: …My luck isn’t great.]
[Yan Yiqiu: You gave me plenty of materials. I happen to have a weapon here. Do you prefer melee or ranged combat?]
[Wei Jiaze: Melee.]
[Yan Yiqiu: Okay.]
She rummaged through her bag and found a blue-quality cleaver tucked in a corner, trading it to Wei Jiaze.
For her, weapons were only useful for trading materials, except for orange or gold-grade weapons.
[Wei Jiaze: Thank you.]
[Yan Yiqiu: You’re welcome. Helping each other.]
Wei Jiaze took the weapon and swallowed a Cooling Pill. The burning sensation in his body, as if his internal organs were on fire, finally eased a little.
He sat silently in the corner, the laughter of Zhao Xingpeng and Li Ru echoing in his ears. Through his long bangs, he glanced at Yan Yiqiu, who kept her distance from them, and quietly made a decision.
He was going to switch teams, Wei Jiaze decided.
Zhao Xingpeng’s disgusting behavior had one purpose besides humiliation: to force him out of the team.
After all, they had been “close” brothers before, so if Zhao Xingpeng openly kicked him out, the other teammates would have lingering doubts. But if he left voluntarily, it would be different.
Wei Jiaze also understood that with his current damage output as a lone wolf player, the only possible outcome was death.
[Wei Jiaze: Can I join your team? I’ll try not to hold anyone back, and I can give you two-thirds of the materials I collect.]
Yan Yiqiu, cleaning her inventory, received the private message.
She slowly raised an eyebrow as she read it.
Hmm? The future top-tier support player is applying to join her squad?

“High-Risk Personality Playbook” by: Xiao Shunyi
“Welcome to the Personality Plunder game world.
Shi Qian stared at the three pitch-black high-risk personality cards in his hand, deep in thought.
System, are you polite?
Even if I filled out the survey saying, “My right hand seals an evil power,” “When angry, the jet-black wings are my arms,” “I’m tired of saving the world—might as well destroy it,” I’m just a simple chuunibyou, right?!
System: Complaint received. Rewarding black personality [Arrogant Dreamer]. Excessive humility is extreme arrogance.
Shi Qian: …???
Fine, then I want to become—
System: Become?
Shi Qian: An ordinary convenience store owner with superpowers and evil personalities, who sets alarms for discounted eggs daily and never wastes a single cent!
System: …???
—[Personality #001: Physical Sleep Master]
On a rainy night, a beast followed a red-clothed girl, sneaking through the alley into a room.
Its black-gray tongue licked lips and teeth, fresh blood’s temptation driving it to slaughter—
Blinding white light instantly turned on.
“Hello there?” The black-haired, red-clothed girl sat at the table, tilting her head slightly.
She smiled, eyes squinting, knives and forks clashing with a harsh sound: “Do you prefer steamed or braised?”
The beast, disdainful of learning human speech: “…Help!”
—[Personality #066: Death ● Sorcerer]
In Personality Plunder, the first streamer, Tuge, used a black personality to roam dungeons, indiscriminately sending NPCs to their deaths.
Only a barefoot girl remained standing in the slaughterhouse.
She hugged a plush toy, frail and pale, slowly raising her arm…
Dead NPCs rose, bones buried in the yellow soil reanimated, ignoring all physical attacks, charging at the game streamer Tuge.
[“Tuge, run!”]
[“OMG, Tuge is about to wipe, bribe the boss now haha!”]
Fans spammed the chat as Tuge’s personality cards were stripped: “Not… an NPC! She’s a player too!!”
—[Personality #??: ???]
Unknown entity. Do not see or hear.
Months later.
Watching Shi Qian’s insane roleplay, with evil gods and true gods coexisting, the system sarcastically said: “Just a ~simple~ chuunibyou~.”
Shi Qian: “? I am indeed.”
What else could I do when all I get are high-risk personalities? If I can’t beat them, I join them.
