Leo was born on Frostmoon Planet, the youngest son of Mu En, the leader of the werewolves.
He was born with pure white fur and ice-blue eyes—an extremely rare white wolf among werewolves. The elders of the tribe all said he bore the mark of a natural-born Alpha.
And he truly lived up to that expectation. From a young age, he ran faster and bit harder than the other young wolves. While other pups were still nursing, he could already catch rabbits on his own.
Werewolf pups remained in their pure wolf form until the age of four. The tribe's custom was to raise them free-range—letting the pups run wild in the forest, with parents only dropping off food and occasionally checking to make sure they didn't starve. They believed that only wolves raised this way would grow up with ambition and ferocity, worthy of being called werewolves.
Leo was the finest of them all. Before he turned four, Mu En and his mate would boast to everyone they met: "Our youngest son will surely become the youngest Alpha Wolf on Frostmoon Planet!"
On the day he turned four, Leo indeed transformed from a white wolf into a delicate, beautiful little white-furred child.
But before the family could dote on him enough, Leo spoke his very first words—
"I don't want to be human! I'm a wolf, and I'm going to be the greatest Alpha!"
With that, he shifted back into his wolf form and bolted into the forest.
Leo was serious. He believed he was born to be a wolf—with sharp fangs and claws, running free through the woods.
He wanted to build his own pack and become a true Alpha.
What were humans anyway? No fangs, no claws, no freedom. He didn't want to be one.
Unfortunately, his parents clearly couldn't understand his grand ambitions. They tried every way to force him into human form, and to cultivate his appreciation for human society, they even packed him off to the Capital Star to live with his older brother, Rex.
Leo was extremely displeased about this.
Radiance City had no forests, no streams—just towering buildings everywhere. Humans were trapped in little boxes stacked on top of each other, neither sincere nor wild.
He didn't like it here.
He didn't like his brother either—Rex was clearly a wolf, yet he insisted on pretending to be human. And when Leo pushed him too far, he'd fly into a rage, which was especially boring.
He didn't want to stay here. He wanted to go back to Frostmoon Planet.
He started deliberately going against his brother—tearing up the house all day, gnawing on things, running around everywhere, embarrassing Rex.
Rex was furious. Perfect—hopefully he'd get angry enough to ship Leo straight back to Frostmoon Planet.
But despite Rex's hot temper, he had an unexpected sense of responsibility toward his little brother. Every day, even while being driven up the wall, he'd clean up Leo's messes time and again, and try to educate him, hoping to make him see the benefits of being human.
Leo didn't want any of it.
He continued doing whatever he pleased, stubbornly refusing to be human.
Finally, just two weeks ago, Rex issued him an ultimatum—"You can't just stay home all the time. I've enrolled you. You're going to kindergarten!"
Kindergarten was not a good place. Leo went once and hated it.
All the pups there were in human form, playing together, eating together, taking naps together—there wasn't even a territory of his own.
He didn't like it. He wasn't going back.
He was leaving this place.
If he couldn't return to Frostmoon Planet, he'd find his own territory and live the life a werewolf should live.
So that day, while Rex wasn't paying attention, Leo slipped out of the house alone.
To get as far away as possible, he crawled into the bed of a pickup truck.
The truck stopped at his front door, driven by his uncle Uther. He secretly hid in the truck bed, leaving the neighborhood along with a pile of dried fruit and local specialties.
Leo's original plan was to ride along with the vehicle to another corner of the city, then find his own way to search for the forest.
Unexpectedly, luck was on his side—his uncle's little pickup truck carried him straight out of Radiance City, driving to the outskirts and into a deep, quiet forest estate.
The environment here was nice—mountains, water, and very peaceful. He liked it here.
So, as the vehicle slowed down, Leo jumped off and dove straight into the forest.
From today on, this was his territory. He would personally build his own pack and become the Alpha Wolf here!
However, after living in the forest for a few days, Leo noticed something wrong—this forest seemed unusually quiet.
There were no decent prey here, no natural predators, and no humans. The plants and trees all carried an air of stillness, making it feel eerily strange.
He wandered through the forest for days, catching nothing except a few small fish from the creek and a couple of birds. Most of the time, he could only eat berries and nibble on tender grass, leaving himself starving, his stomach growling and his eyes glowing green with hunger.
He wanted to leave and find a new territory, but no matter what, he couldn't find his way out of these woods.
And just now, Leo had encountered an even bigger crisis—
While he was lying in the grass ambushing a bird, a curly-haired human child suddenly appeared in his field of vision!
So this territory had an owner after all?
And this little human… looked so familiar.
Leo hid in the grass, staring at the other for a long time as he racked his brain, until it suddenly hit him—
He'd seen this kid before! On his brother Rex's phone!
This was the perfect Vampire child Rex had mentioned back then, the one called Fufu or something…
The other was sitting on a rock, fiddling with grass blades in his hands, mumbling something under his breath that was too faint to make out.
This little vampire was indeed quite delicate-looking, but Leo didn't like him.
He was a free little wolf living in the forest—he had no fondness for delicate children raised in greenhouses.
Besides, Rex had said that day that this was his friend's younger brother. Since this kid was here, his brother's friend was probably nearby too. If the other recognized him and brought his brother over, he'd be caught and dragged back to kindergarten again.
So, Leo decided not to alert the other and quietly slip away.
But just as he turned around, he heard the kid let out a startled cry: "Wow! Puppy—!"
Then came the sound of approaching footsteps.
Leo bolted.
The wolf form naturally had an advantage in running, especially in an environment like the forest that wasn't wide open.
The little vampire stumbled as he ran, quickly falling far behind.
But what Leo didn't expect was that although the other ran slowly, he was incredibly persistent. Every time he was left behind, he'd quickly catch up again, shouting:
"Puppy! Wait for me… You're so pretty, puppy! Can we be friends?"
Leo was annoyed to death by the chase, unable to shake him off.
Finally, when he reached the end of a small path, Leo couldn't take it anymore. He spun around abruptly and stared at the human child who refused to give up.
The other was also panting heavily. Seeing Leo stop, he stopped too, bracing his hands on his knees to catch his breath.
The distance between the boy and the wolf was only a few steps.
Leo bared his fangs in fury, the message unmistakable—I don't welcome you, stop following me!
Baring fangs was the customary werewolf gesture of intimidation. His gleaming white canines exposed to the world, showcasing his strength and resolve for battle. Most people, upon seeing his bared fangs, would choose to retreat.
Yet the little Blood Clan member before him showed no sign of backing down—instead, he bared his fangs right back at Leo??
Of course, Leo knew that vampires naturally had two fangs at the corners of their mouths… but so what? Did being a vampire give you the right to bare your fangs at another wolf?!
The werewolf's instinctive aversion to the fang-baring gesture had taken over his mind. Leo refused to show any weakness, baring his full set of sharp teeth and letting out low growls at the cub.
Seeing this, Fufu was utterly fascinated:
"Wow, little doggy, your teeth are so white… I have some too, hehe, but mine aren't as long as yours."
As he spoke, Fufu used his fingers to lift the corner of his mouth, showing the little wolf his own fangs.
This action infuriated Leo even more.
He hadn't expected this enemy, who seemed so harmless, to be so audacious—daring to provoke him like this!
He bared his fangs even wider, desperately displaying his sharpness, and lowered his body into an attacking stance…
But the cub before him still showed not a trace of fear, and even took step after step toward him.
"Little doggy, can we be friends? You're so pretty… I want to touch your tail."
Leo panicked—why would this guy dare to approach despite his warnings? Had he not seen his fangs and claws?
Or was this unassuming little human actually more powerful than he'd imagined?
Leo's paw pads began to sweat. He even felt a sense of pressure emanating from the small figure before him.
The little werewolf let out two whines. Watching the other draw closer and closer, he finally reached his limit and decided to attack.
But just as he was about to lunge with bared fangs, the human cub across from him made the first move, striking straight at his wolf mouth!
And then… shoved something soft and sweet into his mouth.
Leo was completely stunned, his entire wolf body frozen.
Wh-what is this… what are you doing…
He stared wide-eyed at the cub before him, his whole body rigid, his mind a complete blank—only the sweet taste spreading through his mouth…
So… so sweet…
Leo instinctively opened his mouth and swallowed it down in a few quick bites.
Only after swallowing did he realize—it was a candied berry, the kind he'd eaten on Frostmoon Planet.
So why did this guy shove that into his mouth?
And more importantly, he'd actually eaten it…
Leo felt a belated wave of embarrassment and irritation.
They were supposed to be fighting! What was the meaning of suddenly feeding him like this?
With that thought, Leo bared his fangs again: "Grrr, arf!"
But the very next second, the vampire cub struck again, and another piece of sweet candied fruit was shoved into the little wolf's mouth.
Deep down, he wanted to resist, but he'd been wandering here for over ten days without catching any proper prey—spending his days gnawing on grass and mushrooms, eating even more plainly than a rabbit. He had absolutely no resistance to this sugary, calorie-rich sweetness.
The candied fruit seemed to have a life of its own—the moment it entered his mouth, it slid right down.
Before Leo could even react, the food had already reached his stomach, leaving only a lingering sweet aftertaste in his mouth.
His stomach had been empty for too long, and even after eating those two pieces, he didn't feel satisfied—if anything, he was even hungrier.
Leo momentarily forgot about fighting, licking the fur around his mouth as his gaze drifted toward the small pouch at Fufu's waist.
It was a little strawberry-shaped cloth bag, slung diagonally across Fufu's body, stuffed full of snacks, watercolor pens, a small water bottle, and also the little rabbit he'd woven and the pebbles he'd picked up. Fufu carried it everywhere he went, never letting it leave his side.
Meeting the puppy's gaze, Fufu could tell the other was hungry, so he rummaged through the bag for other snacks to feed him.
Midway through searching, he noticed the little dog's blue eyes fixed on a bag of plain dried meat jerky inside his pouch.
Fufu immediately pulled out the jerky, tore open the packaging, and fed it to him piece by piece.
Leo hadn't eaten anything this fragrant in a long time. Without overthinking it, he gobbled it down with eager gulps.
As he ate, Leo caught a glimpse from the corner of his eye—the vampire cub across from him was watching him cautiously, slowly reaching out a small hand toward his wolf ears…
Leo instinctively ducked his head, and saw the vampire cub startle as if frightened, quickly pulling his hand back, then tearing open a small bread roll for him instead.
"…" Leo suddenly felt a pang of guilt. For the first time, he realized what it meant to be soft-handed when eating someone's food.
Hmm… the other had given him so much food, and all he wanted was to touch him.
The little wolf lowered his head, biting into the bread roll while pretending to casually brush his ear against the little vampire's hand.
Sure enough, the cub's eyes lit up, his breathing even growing softer as he tentatively reached out again, actively touching Leo's ear.
This time, Leo didn't dodge. Instead, as if he hadn't noticed, he kept his head down, gnawing at the bread.
Fufu brought his hand to the little wolf's ear tip, gently stroked it twice, then quickly withdrew, watching his reaction.
Seeing no response, Fufu let out a triumphant little smile, rubbed his hands together, and reached for the wolf's ear again—this time bolder, touching the base of the ear, kneading the thickest patch of fur.
The cub's touch was very light, and it tickled Leo a bit. He couldn't help but twitch his ears, but still didn't pull away. As he kept his head down eating the bread, he secretly glanced up to see the little vampire's expression.
There the cub was, eyes shining bright from having rubbed his ears, little face flushed pink, holding his breath and occasionally checking Leo's expression, as if afraid he might scare him away.
Leo felt a little puzzled. What was so special about furry ears? Everyone had them.
How could someone be this happy just from touching a wolf's furry ears?
At that thought, Leo suddenly lifted his head.
The little vampire startled and quickly withdrew his hand.
But Leo smiled. He let out a short whimper from his throat, then proactively leaned in, rubbing his snout and forehead against Fufu's hand.
No need to be so careful. If you want to touch, just touch.
Since you like wolves this much… letting you touch a little isn't such a big deal.
Seeing him like this, the little vampire let out an excited "wow," both eyes practically glowing.
A sense of foreboding suddenly rose in Leo's heart, but it was already too late to dodge—
The next second, the little vampire jumped up, threw himself entirely onto the wolf, and hugged him tightly!
"Owwooo—"
Leo let out a strained yelp as he toppled sideways.
How could there be such a pushy vampire who took an inch and asked for a mile!
