A single blade fell, and a massive scar was added to Sagat’s chest.

The surging life energy poured madly in along the cleaved wound, scorching his blood vessels and scouring his bones; while it utterly destroyed the vital energy circulating within Sagat’s body, it also forcibly activated his afferent nerves, magnifying his existing pain several times over in an instant.

Feeling this sudden, excruciating pain—enough to send a man into shock—Sagat’s single eye snapped wide open.Full novel: A Martial Arts Master Will Never Be Humiliated — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Not anger, not fear—shock.

That golden vital energy pouring into the wound surged upward along bone and vessel, pierced through his cervical vertebrae, and slammed into his cranial cavity.

The sensation was as if his brain had, in that instant, been struck head-on by some kind of energy.

Under the scouring of the life energy, his neurons instantly spun out of control; sight, hearing, touch, pain—all his senses seemed to be compressed into a single sheet of white light in that same instant.

Then, accompanied by an inexplicable drowsiness that welled up from the very level of his soul, Sagat—who had believed he could still endure—rolled his eyes uncontrollably upward, and in the instant he fell unconscious, his towering frame crashed to the ground with a dull thud.

Yang, WIN!!!

The battle was over, and the life energy surging around Yang’s body slowly dissipated along with it.

With the police sirens drawing ever closer, Yang exhaled a breath of turbid air, then turned toward Chun-Li behind him and gave a thumbs-up.

“We won!” At those words, Chun-Li only stared blankly at Yang, but Yang clearly didn’t pay it much mind—or rather, he no longer had the capacity to respond.

With his life energy utterly depleted, his eyes rolled back and he, too, collapsed into unconsciousness.

“A-Yang!!!” Watching Chun-Li rush over to Yang, Kure Fuusui said with a touch of astonishment: “He actually…

really won?!

My god, was that the Removal just now?

Why do I feel like something’s not quite right?

Because even the Removal couldn’t reach a level like that, could it?!” “…” To this, Kure Karura only stayed silent.

This made Kure Fuusui turn a somewhat puzzled gaze toward Karura.

As her close friend, Kure Fuusui knew perfectly well that, having witnessed a battle like this, falling silent now was not at all in keeping with Karura’s character.

And standing off to the side, Kure Karura said nothing in response to Kure Fuusui’s words, only staring blankly at the unconscious Yang—he had clearly won, yet the price he’d paid and the injuries he’d suffered were obviously even greater than Sagat’s…

In silence, Kure Karura turned her gaze toward Kure Fuusui at her side.

“I’m in love.” “Huh?” Kure Fuusui blanked.

“I’m wet.” “Eh?” Kure Fuusui startled.

“…” And Kure Karura simply returned her gaze to Yang’s body, gazing at that handsome, heroic face, savoring that lingering madness.

A moment later, Kure Karura took her phone out of her backpack and began snapping photos, the better to collect portraits and conduct intelligence investigation later on.

Then Kure Karura turned her gaze back to Yang, and as she quietly watched him, two patches of color bloomed uncontrollably across her fair, pretty cheeks, her dark irises brimming with excitement and fervor.

“Defile!” Watching Kure Karura’s worked-up state, Kure Fuusui, beside her, scratched her head.

As a member of the Kure clan, Kure Fuusui knew full well how formidable Kure Karura was, and she also understood her close friend’s…

or rather, the entire Kure clan’s, temperament.

But there was no helping it—as an assassin specialized in sniping, Kure Fuusui was naturally accustomed to keeping her cool, and on certain matters she really found it hard to resonate with her family.

Like right now…

“Rather than calling it love…

why do I get the feeling you just want to beat him to a pulp and then drag him back to be your sex slave?” Kure Fuusui felt she simply couldn’t comprehend it.

Off in the distance, gazing at the unconscious Yang, Gen stroked the short stubble on his chin.

Especially after confirming that Yang had not embraced the Satsui no Hadō, he relaxed considerably without even realizing it.

Ordinary people might not understand, but having once mastered the Satsui no Hadō, Gen knew very well that it was by no means a righteous path…

Then again, trading the burning of life energy for such an explosion of power—the name Yang really was fitting.

Mid-thought, Gen turned into an afterimage and swept off into the distance.

The Yang of now would obviously need some high-quality life energy to replenish himself once he woke.

And before he woke, his physical condition would have to be stabilized…

after all, at least at this stage, Yang clearly couldn’t regenerate severed limbs.

…

In a hazy dream, Yang felt only his consciousness drifting through nothingness.

Just like the first time Sagat struck his heart, temperature, color, air, light…

everything people take for granted all reduced to zero, turning into pure nothingness.

Only, having already gone through it once during the battle, Yang found this time far more bearable than before—so much so that Yang opened his eyes almost without any obstruction at all.

And then…

“…Where is this?” As he opened his eyes, what met Yang’s view was not the scene from his near-death stasis before, like sinking into the void, but rather a ball of light floating in front of him.

He touched it curiously, and the ball of light nimbly dodged away.

Yang reached out again, and the ball of light dodged again.

Seeing this, Yang raised an eyebrow, then lunged at it with his whole body, both hands seizing the ball of light.

It was very soft, but had no sensation of flesh and blood; though it carried something of the texture of cloth, to Yang’s perception it seemed more like some kind of special energy.

Gripped in both hands, the ball of light began to leap and struggle nimbly.

Though it looked tiny, only about the size of a rag doll, once it truly began to struggle even Yang couldn’t keep a firm grip on it.

Fortunately, though Yang had no physical body now, life energy could burst forth from his spirit.

With a surge of force, Yang clamped down tightly on the ball of light.

But it was just then that, sensing something, Yang turned his gaze behind him.

What met his eyes was a magic circle radiating the brilliance of a myriad stars; across its not-especially-complex patterns were etched countless fine trajectories, faintly forming the shape of a person raising both hands with their back to the sun.

And just as Yang’s attention was drawn to the magic circle that had so suddenly appeared, the ball of light slipped free of his grasp and, with a whoosh, slammed straight into the magic circle.

Seeing this, Yang glanced left and right, then stepped straight into the magic circle after the ball of light.

He had no idea what was actually going on, but…

he was already here anyway.

Reaching out, Yang lightly touched the circle, and the plane of the magic circle began to wobble back and forth like jelly.

Before Yang could even react, the circle sucked his whole body inside.

Amid a dizzying, vertiginous spin, when Yang opened his eyes once more, what met his view was a pint-sized girl with both eyes tightly shut, seemingly fast asleep—petite in build, with a pretty face and a head of long silver hair, wearing what looked like a Russian-nesting-doll-crossed-with-Monster-Hunter dopey-cat hood.

Yang stared for a while.

Holy shit, it’s Ingrid.
