Tong Shuxue did not bother with them. If those yamen officers had not tried to kill her earlier, she would not have killed them either.
The ropes on her body were untied. One robot stood guard beside her, while another four robots methodically searched the corpses on the ground. Their weapons and all recovered items were gathered together into a pile.
Tong Shuxue instructed the robots to strip the clothes from several of the taller bodies. After War King and his group disappeared from sight, her pupils swept across the pile of items assembled by the robots, and everything was instantly stored into her dimensional space.
The chip implanted in her wrist, linked to her brain’s neural system, allowed anything she visually locked onto—so long as it was inanimate—to be instantly absorbed into dimensional space.
Bringing living beings into dimensional space had limitations. One method required physical contact, treating the living being as an attachment of an inanimate object. For example, a creature locked in a cage could be stored along with the cage. Another method allowed certain trained “pet-like” living beings to be stored without contact, as long as they were considered dependents.
The danger of this place was still unknown. Tong Shuxue issued instructions to the robot guarding her.
“Ling Yi, scan the surroundings.”
Her ten robots were numbered Ling Yi to Ling Shi. They were all-purpose special-agent type machines with independent human-like reasoning abilities. She only needed to issue simple commands, and they could immediately understand her intent.
They had all previously served two years in the military as special agents. The current generation of special-agent robots used by the military were developed based on the data from their two-year operational experience. These ten units had therefore been kept by Tong Shuxue inside her dimensional space and converted into her personal bodyguards.
The robots’ eyes contained the most advanced unobstructed scanning system, integrating infrared, ultrasonic, and laser radar detection. Any living being within three kilometers could be detected.
Small insects, however, were an exception—they could only be detected within twenty meters.
Ling Yi completed the scan in just two seconds. A layer of light projection appeared in front of them. This holographic screen was formed through optical condensation from Ling Yi’s pupils.
Once activated, it displayed a real-time simulated map of the three-kilometer radius, including mountains, roads, buildings, and flat terrain.
Numerous bright points appeared on the map, divided into red, yellow, and green. At this moment, only yellow and green points were present.
There was no village within three kilometers. Yellow points represented humans; any living being whose threat level could not be determined was marked yellow. Green points represented non-aggressive animals and could be ignored.
The screen showed about two to three hundred individuals. In the direction where War King and his group had just left, thirteen clustered yellow points were moving away together.
About twenty to thirty meters from them, another fifty yellow points were also moving in the same direction. It was unclear whether they were pursuers or allies.
This matter had nothing to do with her, so Tong Shuxue did not pay much attention.
The nearest group consisted of more than twenty people, scattered in two locations within twenty meters. They appeared to be observing her group.
She had no habit of killing without reason. As long as they did not approach her, she had no intention of eliminating them.
War King’s group had headed toward a small forest earlier. Tong Shuxue ordered Ling Yi to carry her into that forest so she could enter dimensional space to treat her injuries.
From the simulated terrain displayed on Ling Yi’s scan, this area was part of a main road within the three-kilometer radius.
Since she would exit dimensional space at the same location she entered, it was better to find a more concealed place.
The other four robots guarded both sides of Ling Yi and Tong Shuxue as they retreated into the small forest, while Ling Er continued scanning as they moved.
“Major General, the more than twenty humans within twenty meters are approaching us.“ Ling Er reported while walking.
The research institute where Tong Shuxue worked was affiliated with the military district. Because her research achievements were extremely significant, she had already been promoted to Major General. Thus, the robots addressed her as Major General.
Although she primarily worked as a researcher within the military, Tong Shuxue had undergone strict combat training. In fact, she had once participated in a full year of missions alongside these robots in order to test their special-agent capabilities.
It seemed these people were targeting her. It was just unclear whether they were aligned with War King’s side or the yamen’s side.
Tong Shuxue retrieved a wheelchair from her dimensional space. Being carried the entire time caused a crushing pressure on her abdomen, and even her chest felt tight and painful—so much so that even breathing hurt.
The group moved quickly. Within only two minutes, the twenty-plus pursuers arrived in front of her.
They wore uniform black outfits, though their style differed from War King’s men. Each of them also wore silver masks that covered only the upper half of their faces. It was unclear whether the masks were made of silver.
The group stopped in front of Tong Shuxue. One man stepped forward from behind them; he appeared to be their leader.
He looked at her with a trace of disdain. “It seems the young lady is badly injured. From your appearance, you are not from our Great Yong Kingdom. I will not make things difficult for you. As long as you answer a few questions, I will let you leave.”
Tong Shuxue caught a key term—Great Yong Kingdom.
She searched her historical knowledge, but there was no record of any Great Yong Kingdom in the ancient history she knew.
As an academic top student, she was certain her memory was not flawed. This meant this world was very likely one of countless parallel realms. Perhaps she still had a chance to return.
Enduring the pain, Tong Shuxue wore a faint, half-smiling expression. “Is that so? Go on, then.”
The man did not seem angered by her fearless attitude. He said: “Where are you from? What is your relationship with the Prince of Dingbei? Where are the rest of your people hiding?”
First a War King, and now a Prince of Dingbei. This Great Yong Kingdom certainly had many princes.
Tong Shuxue maintained her faint smile. “I am a celestial being from beyond the heavens, descending into the mortal world for experience. I accidentally landed in this remote place of yours. As for the Prince of Dingbei you mentioned, I have never met him and do not know him.”
The man narrowed his eyes, a hint of killing intent emerging. He had already sensed earlier that the five men protecting this woman showed no internal energy fluctuations, which had reduced his initial caution.
“Miss should speak the truth. I do not have the habit of showing mercy.”
Tong Shuxue spread her hands innocently. “I truly have never seen this Prince of Dingbei you speak of. I only just arrived not long ago.”
The man’s patience was clearly exhausted. He raised both hands slightly, signaling his men to attack.
Ling Yi remained quietly beside Tong Shuxue. The other four robots did not move either. However, they no longer engaged barehanded as they had against the yamen earlier.
Their arms transformed into assault rifle mode, and with a single raise, they fired. In an instant, six of the opposing men were dead.
These opponents were far stronger than the yamen and reacted quickly. They formed teams of four, attempting to evade the robots’ gunfire while closing in for melee combat, believing this would prevent the robots from using ranged weapons.
However, these robots were all-round special agents—equally skilled in close combat as they were in firepower.
The battle lasted only five minutes. Seeing the situation turn unfavorable, the leader shouted for a retreat and fled first.
