There are things in this world you just wouldn’t believe.
People are quick to call them miracles.
I was no different.
‘Miracles really do exist!’
The first time I was confronted with something I never saw coming, I was so overjoyed I was practically moved to tears.
But hasn’t someone said it before?
Life, seen up close, is tragedy; seen from afar, comedy.
Ah—now there’s a phrase that really gets to the heart of a person’s life.
So I decided to shout it out with all my might.
“Life sucks!”
My lifelong dream had been to live off the land after retiring.
But that “off the land” was supposed to mean tending a backyard garden in a rural housing development twenty minutes by car from a big supermarket, a full-service hospital, and a busy shopping district—not literally digging soil and planting seeds in some romantic world filled with monsters and magic!
“Hey, Wizard dude! Get your butt out here and help catch some meat! What’s this? Still lying around asleep? Huh. Don’t even know the first rule of exile: if you don’t work, you don’t eat! Hurry up and get ready!”
And on top of it, this place is an island village.
When I was thinking of moving to the countryside, I did wonder—would I rather have mountains or the sea? Turns out I get both in the worst possible way.
