He glanced at the two boxes of gold bars.

“Tomorrow isn’t Li Su coming? Perfect. Let her take a good look. These jewelry pieces, gold bars, luxury goods—all of them are prepared by me for Sweet Rou. A filthy woman who’s even been pregnant with a bastard child like Li Su doesn’t even have the qualification to touch these things!”

Wu Xiaomei smiled and immediately suppressed her greed, straightened her back, and reported her stockpiles:Full novel: Abandoned in the apocalypse? I rise through plunder to make a comeback — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“I’ve already stored meals from six restaurants—5,000 banquet tables in total. Pork, beef, and lamb—one ton each. Seafood—three tons! Vegetables are fully prepared too: 3,000 jin each of cabbage, radish, and Shanghai greens. Long-lasting ones like yam, fungus, and mushrooms are all included as well!”

“As for oils—peanut oil, rapeseed oil, lard, soybean oil—5,000 boxes each. Enough for us to eat for several years!”

She paused, then added hesitantly:

“I only stored 100 barrels of gasoline and 50 barrels of diesel… The Paramount Marauder is so fuel-hungry. Should we stock more?”

As a reborn person, she knew better than anyone how important energy was in the apocalypse—that was literally a lifeline.

Shen Jianchen nodded.

“Don’t worry. In a few days, a 300,000-ton oil tanker will arrive at the port of the neighboring city. I’ll take you there, and we’ll strip all usable fuel from it.”

“Really?!” Wu Xiaomei’s eyes lit up instantly. “Great! With all that fuel, our shelter will be completely secure. We’ll only be short on medicine to finish everything perfectly!”

The more she thought about it, the more certain she became—ditching Li Su in her previous life was the best decision she had ever made. Without that burden, everything was going smoothly. Now they even had spatial abilities. In the apocalypse, they would definitely become top-tier survivors.

After speaking, the three of them turned and left without looking back.

Lin Tianrou couldn’t hide her smile as she followed closely behind, even deliberately locking the office door tightly as she left.

The three of them went off excitedly to continue stockpiling, completely unaware that this carefully staged display of arrogance had already become Li Su’s perfect opportunity.

Far away at a highway service area, Li Su slowly pushed open her car door. The cold night wind lifted her hair, but her eyes remained utterly devoid of warmth.

Her cat-like hearing allowed her to catch everything—the conversations from a distant convenience store, the roar of engines, even the rustling of wind through leaves.

The service area was already quiet. After a few footsteps passed, only a faint, deliberately suppressed breathing remained nearby.

Li Su pretended not to notice. She opened her trunk and pulled out a heavy backpack. It was the one she had used in Gold City to carry gold. Now it was empty—but that didn’t matter. The follower would remember it.

She secretly stuffed a thin down jacket inside to make it bulge, then slung it over her shoulder as if it were heavy. After locking the car, she slowly walked toward the restroom, even stopping to buy a bottle of water to make it look like she was resting.

Her enhanced perception had already mapped everything out clearly.

In the silver Nissan parked diagonally across from her, a man in a baseball cap was sitting inside. Ever since she arrived, that sticky gaze had never left her.

Li Su curled her lips slightly.

Good. She hoped he wouldn’t lose her.

After finishing her water, she returned to the car with the backpack, started the engine, and slowly drove out of the service area.

In the rearview mirror, the silver Nissan followed without a sound.

Not too close, not too far—clearly experienced.

Li Su’s eyes flashed with amusement. She pressed the accelerator gently, merging smoothly into traffic toward the city.

At 4 p.m. in the north, dusk was already falling. Streetlights flickered on one after another, turning the streets as bright as day.

But she didn’t go home.

Instead, she deliberately started circling the city.

From South Street to Ring Mountain Road, from downtown to the development zone—she chose complex routes, frequent traffic lights, and even detoured into narrow alleys before coming back out.

The silver Nissan stayed glued behind her the entire time, like a piece of chewing gum that wouldn’t come off.

After more than two hours of circling, at 7:30 p.m., she finally parked in the underground lot of her former company building.

She deliberately chose a visible spot, got out with the heavy backpack, and scanned the surroundings casually.

The silver Nissan was indeed parked in a hidden corner at the back.

She pretended not to see it and walked straight into the office building.

The security guard immediately recognized her.

“Miss Li, long time no see!”

“Good evening, Uncle Wang,” Li Su smiled and nodded without stopping.

“Miss Li!” the guard suddenly remembered something and hurried after her. “There’s a package for your company—should I bring it up for you?”

She pretended not to hear. The elevator doors slowly closed, cutting off his voice.

She pressed the top floor button, her fingers lightly tapping the wall, a calculating smile on her lips.

Downstairs, the guard sighed. Just then, a man in a helmet and delivery uniform stepped in.

“I’ll take it up for you. The food delivery just arrived for that order.”

The guard didn’t think much of it and went to fetch the package.

Under the helmet, the man’s eyes locked onto the elevator display: Floor 6.

He took the package and quickly followed into the elevator, checking the address: 6th Floor—0611.

When the elevator reached the top floor, Li Su stepped out quickly, went to the rooftop water tank, and stuffed her bulging backpack into a gap underneath it, then blocked it with bricks so it was completely invisible from outside.

Then she leaned on the railing and waited.

Sure enough, she soon saw a helmeted man walking out of the building and slowly getting into the Nissan.

So cautious—and even disguised as a delivery rider.

But it didn’t matter. The bait had taken.

Li Su went downstairs unhurriedly, got into her car, and drove away.

In the rearview mirror, the silver Nissan did not follow.

As expected, they believed the gold was hidden in the office and were preparing to break in at night.

Li Su’s smile deepened as she drove straight to the nearest supermarket.

After parking, she took out her disguise kit—fake nose, fake chin, short wig, shoulder pads. Everything left over from earlier.

Once disguised, she put on a loose black coat that blurred her silhouette and a mask.

Carefully avoiding cameras, she slipped through the darkest side path behind the supermarket and circled back toward the shadowed area near the company building.
