“Sweet girl, I’ve already called the military. They’ll be back to work tomorrow, and your marriage application with Beizhen will be canceled.”

“Don’t worry. You don’t want to marry Beizhen, a vegetative man—I would never force you!”

Hearing someone speak beside her, Song Tian slowly opened her eyes.Full novel: Accidentally Married in the ’70s: The Comatose Commander Wakes Up and Kisses Me Wildly — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Before her was a gray-white wall full of the era’s flavor, a five-drawer cabinet painted red, and a wooden frame bed. On the nearby table sat a red-plastic thermos and an enamel tea cup stamped with ‘Labor is glorious’.

Sitting on the edge of the bed was a middle-aged woman with a large red flower pinned to her chest, wearing a cotton suit. Her expression was sorrowful and guilty.

Song Tian herself lay on the bed. Beside her was a handsome man in a green military uniform.

His eyes were closed—she couldn’t tell if he was sleeping or dead.

Song Tian turned her head slightly and felt a sharp throbbing pain in her forehead.

What was going on?

She remembered just finishing a mechanical engineering research project and, on the way, seeing someone trapped under a fallen billboard. Using her natural strength, she had tried to help.

Who knew another billboard would fall—right on her face!

And the next thing she knew, she was here.

As she pondered, memories that weren’t her own flooded her mind.

She had transmigrated.

Into the body of a girl with the same name in 1972.

The original girl was an orphan, adopted at eight by the Song family from the textile factory. The next year, after many childless years, the Song family suddenly had a daughter.

Logically, this daughter should have made the Song family treat the original girl better—but instead, they started to resent her. She was superfluous in their eyes, constantly mistreated and scolded daily.

The original girl didn’t have enough to eat or proper clothes. By the time she turned eighteen and was supposed to be assigned a job, the Song family only had one job quota, which they reserved for their biological daughter!

So they made a quick decision: ten yuan as a bride price, and the original girl was married off!

On the wedding day, the Song family told her that her future husband was a soldier who could earn money lying in bed, obedient, would never argue, and would be “long-lasting” in bed.

The original girl, overjoyed, thought she finally felt family warmth—but entering the bridal chamber, she realized she had been tricked. Her husband was a vegetative man.

She was crushed and tried to confront the Song family—but accidentally hit the door threshold and fainted.

When she opened her eyes again, her soul had been replaced by Song Tian’s.

Song Tian rubbed her forehead, her head buzzing.

The original girl had been pitiful beyond words—it was heartbreaking.

Lu Beizhen’s mother, Fang Shuqin, sat nearby. Seeing Song Tian sigh, she quickly spoke:

“I really didn’t know you were tricked into this. Don’t be sad—I’ll get a car to send you back to the Song family right now.”

Rising to her feet, Fang Shuqin’s eyes were dim and disappointed.

Ah!

What a beautiful girl.

Song Tian had a doll-like face and shiny black hair tied in a ponytail. With no bangs, her delicate, fair skin was fully visible. Even in the plainest cotton dress, her ethereal aura couldn’t be hidden.

The moment Fang Shuqin saw Song Tian, her mind raced with countless fantasies about Song Tian and Lu Beizhen’s married life:

…but now all of that was just bubbles, brutally popped.

After all, Song Tian didn’t know Lu Beizhen’s condition; she had been tricked into marriage.

Fang Shuqin couldn’t force Song Tian to waste her life on him. That would be too much.

Thinking this, Fang Shuqin started to step outside.

“Mo…mom,” Song Tian suddenly called, stopping her.

Fang Shuqin shivered, unable to believe her ears. “What did you call me?”

Song Tian cleared her throat. “If calling you ‘mom’ isn’t appropriate, then I can call you ‘mother-in-law.’”

“Appropriate! Perfect!” Fang Shuqin’s eyes lit up.

She hesitated, rubbing her hands nervously. “Sweet girl, calling me ‘mom’…does this mean—”

Song Tian didn’t let her finish. She nodded. “Yes. I’ve changed my mind. I’m willing to marry Lu Beizhen and take care of him from now on!”

Although newly transmigrated, Song Tian thought fast.

If she were sent back to the Song family, she would inevitably be married off again—maybe next time to a cripple or a blind man. Even if she refused, life in the Song family would be miserable.

Marrying Lu Beizhen was different.

Mother-in-law Fang Shuqin was gentle and easy to get along with—no future mother-in-law conflicts.

As for the husband, like the Song family said, he wouldn’t argue, and married life would be harmonious.

There wouldn’t even be pressure to have children.

Song Tian could find a job and earn money. Even if Lu Beizhen woke up and wanted a divorce later, she would have the confidence to live independently.

Such a comfortable life—nobody would live better than her!

Fang Shuqin was moved to tears, holding Song Tian’s hand. “Sweet girl, don’t worry. Now that you’ve married in, I’ll protect you. You won’t suffer a single injustice.”

“Beizhen was impressive in the army, a leader in the North China District. He commanded many people and had a good salary. You won’t have to suffer. When he wakes up, he’ll properly make it up to you!”

After a moment, Fang Shuqin suddenly smacked her forehead. “Oh no! I must call the military to make sure they don’t cancel the marriage application!”

She hurried out.

In the room, only Song Tian and Lu Beizhen remained.

Song Tian lowered her gaze, studying him.

His face was handsome and cold. Even with eyes closed, he exuded a commanding aura that inspired awe.

“Don’t worry, Brother Lu. Since I’m your wife, I’ll take care of everything—eating, drinking, and all bodily needs—while you’re like this!”

As she spoke, Song Tian noticed a thin layer of sweat on Lu Beizhen’s forehead.

July was hot, and wearing such a thick uniform, it was no wonder.

She went to the wardrobe to find a set of double-layer gauze pajamas to help him change.

Removing his jacket, she couldn’t help but admire his well-defined body.

I wonder how it feels…

She thought, reaching out to touch him.

Just as her hand made contact, she felt his fingers brush against her bent waist.

Panic-stricken, she tried to straighten up, but her knee hit the bed frame, sending her uncontrolled onto the man.

And, of all things, her lips landed directly on his.

Her eyes widened in shock.

Then she realized—when did the man open his eyes? His dark pupils were turbulent, staring at her intently!
