The sudden voice made the factory director’s gaze instantly harden.

He turned toward Song Tian and saw a fairly attractive young girl standing in a machinery factory full of rugged men—it looked completely out of place.

He frowned. “You’re not a worker here, are you? How did you get in? Get out immediately. This isn’t a place for you to mess around.”Full novel: Accidentally Married in the ’70s: The Comatose Commander Wakes Up and Kisses Me Wildly — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Song Tian took a step forward, her tone firm. “I’m not messing around, Director. The steel coil’s dimensions really have a problem.

It’s slightly heavier than the production standard, and the forklift is counterbalanced according to the standard. That’s why it became unstable and caused the steel coil to roll off.”

Song Tian spoke seriously, her face stern, and even managed to spook the director.

The safety officer also froze for a moment, then, as if grasping at a lifeline, nodded eagerly. “Yes, yes! That forklift shook just now—it might really be a weight issue!”

Before Song Tian could say more, the safety officer took the initiative to plead, “Director, why not go check the workshop? If the steel coil’s dimensions are wrong, that’s a serious matter!”

If the steel coil’s dimensions were truly off, they would need immediate correction.

Otherwise, future forklift handling issues would be minor in comparison.

Steel coils that don’t meet standards cannot be used!

Expensive, high-quality steel that could serve many industries would be reduced to scrap sold by weight.

The economic loss would be enormous!

The director lowered his head, deep in thought. After a long moment, his expression heavy, he said, “Go check Workshop Three!”

He couldn’t gamble on steel coil dimensions.

Taking two steps forward, he glanced at Song Tian. “You come too.”

Song Tian didn’t object and jogged to walk alongside him.

The three of them arrived at the third production workshop. Just at the doorway, a wave of heat hit them.

Pushing the door open revealed a scene like a furnace—the temperature was terrifyingly high.

Within seconds, Song Tian was drenched in sweat; her clothes clung wetly to her body.

“Here, put on this heat-resistant suit before entering.” The director handed her a set of black, specially made heat-resistant clothing. “Safety first—don’t take risks.”

The suit was designed for men; once Song Tian wore it, it hung loosely, and her helmet looked like a diving mask.

At a glance, she looked like a mascot with a big head and tiny body.

The workshop workers couldn’t help staring.

But the director didn’t glance at her, walking straight to the workers making the steel coils to demand the data report.

The workers, busy in front of the roaring furnaces, hadn’t heard the earlier commotion and didn’t know someone had been hurt by a falling coil.

Thinking the director wanted to see production numbers, they handed over the reports with smiles.

“We’ve been working overtime, Director. Our output is double last month’s. Even the North China region wants to order a batch!”

The director leafed through the dozen-page report carefully, then slammed it shut.

His expression was dark.

“How is it? Was there really a problem with the steel coil’s dimensions?” the safety officer asked anxiously, relieved.

See? He had carefully checked the forklift, tightened every screw—it couldn’t be at fault.

The problem had to be the steel coil!

But the workers were unhappy.

“What nonsense! There’s nothing wrong with the steel coils I made. Everything met the production standard!”

“Exactly! Your steel coil was overweight—almost killed someone!” the safety officer shot back.

As they argued, other workshop workers gathered around.

Seeing the situation could spiral, the director raised his voice, “Alright, everyone, get back to work and focus on production.”

He handed the report back to the workers and gave the safety officer a sharp look.

He said nothing, but said everything.

The safety officer’s fleeting hope was doused.

If production data was fine, then the lapse was his oversight. Suspension without pay was unavoidable!

“Let’s go.”

“Director, wait!” Song Tian called after him.

The director was annoyed. “Young lady, I don’t have time to entertain your nonsense!”

Thinking about having believed her and come to check the workshop made him feel ridiculous.

Song Tian didn’t argue, heading straight for the control console.

“What are you doing? Don’t touch that!” a worker tried to stop her.

He tugged at her, but Song Tian, though small and slim, was incredibly strong—immovable, as if welded to the ground.

This was insane.

Could he really be overpowered by a young girl?!

He gritted his teeth and pulled with all his strength.

Tear—

The heat-resistant suit was ripped open, exposing her delicate, fair arm.

The workshop temperature neared 80°C, and the heat kissed her exposed arm, turning it bright red.

Everyone froze.

Half a second later, they all shouted in unison, “Get out of the workshop!”

Compared to touching the molten steel, burns from the heat wave were even more dangerous.

Through the tear in her suit, the hot air could be inhaled directly into her lungs.

Like a frog slowly boiled in warm water, her body would be cooked from the inside out.

Song Tian felt as if she were on fire, gasping for cooler air, but it felt like swallowing molten lava.

She held her breath, trying to shield the rip with her left hand.

The opening was too large—it was useless.

Determined, she stopped trying to cover it and focused on the console in front of her, scanning every data point on the display with lightning speed.

“Move! You’ll die if you stay here!” the worker panicked, tugging at her again.

Song Tian’s breath reached its limit; her lungs felt like needles were stabbing them.

Then she finally spotted the problem.

She quickly adjusted the lever at the edge to its highest position.

In sync, the instrument’s alarm screamed—sharp, piercing, almost shattering eardrums.

Amid the alarm, Song Tian dashed out of the workshop.

Inside, everyone froze, their faces a mix of shock and awe.

The director reacted first, roaring, “Who turned off the alarm?!”

The alarm was crucial—it measured the coil edges with a laser. If any exceeded the line, it would sound.

The workshop had seemed calm earlier because the alarm was turned off.

Now that Song Tian activated it, the alarm blared. What did it prove?

The steel coils really had problems!

And who knew how long the alarm had been off, or how many defective coils had been produced…

The director’s face turned ashen.

“Stop production! Recall all previous coils, recheck their data, and destroy any that don’t meet standards!”

The safety officer nearly cried with relief.

Finally, his name was cleared!

No more suspension without pay!

The money for his mother’s medical bills was secure!

All thanks to Song Tian.

The safety officer hurriedly stepped out, eager to find her.

But once outside, he was stunned.

“Someone help! It’s… it’s burning her alive!!”
