Clenching her right hand, Ivana Bennett swung a fist at Lucas Walker’s face with all her strength.
Klang!
A crisp sound of metal clashing echoed.
Ivana felt as if something was pulling her arm then her fist, less than a centimeter away from Lucas Walker’s left cheek, was abruptly halted.
It wasn’t that she wanted to stop.
Rather, her hand could no longer move forward, as if something was holding her arm in place.
Unbeknownst to her, something was now on her wrist.
It was three centimeters wide and made of gold.
The surface was embedded with deep blue gemstones that resembled a night sea.
A large gem was in the middle, surrounded by smaller, sparkling ones all around.
It looked just like a dazzling galaxy.
Had it not been for the intricate combination lock on one side and the golden chain attached at the bottom, the object on her wrist could have been mistaken for a bracelet.
Ivana’s eyes trailed down the chain.
One end was wrapped around her wrist, while the other was locked to the bedpost.
Tinkle, tinkle!
As she moved, similar sounds echoed all around.
Ivana could also feel that something wasn’t right with her other wrist and both ankles.
Without looking, she could guess that the same thing was binding her.
Lucas Walker reached out and gripped her right wrist.
“Relax.”
Being injured in her right hand, clenching her fist like that seemed likely to rip her wounds open.
“Don’t touch me!”
Ivana clenched her fingers resentfully, shaking off Lucas Walker’s hold.
As she moved, the golden chains on her arm jingled again.
“Aren’t you in pain?” Lucas Walker asked, frowning at her with obvious displeasure in his tone.
It simply made no sense to him.
She was clearly injured, but she continued to thrash about.
Does it hurt?!
Did he actually care if she was in pain?!
Enraged, Ivana burst into retaliatory laughter.
“None of your business!”
Lucas Walker looked at the bandage on Ivana’s right hand with a frown.
“Unclench your fingers first.
If you continue like this, your wounds will split open again, which could leave scars.”
He disliked anything imperfect, so he didn’t want her to be left with scars.
“Get off me!” Ivana snapped.
“Loosen your grip first.” Lucas Walker was even more resolute than she was.
“Get off!”
“Loosen up!”
His tone was now laced with anger.
Ivana hmphed, clenching her fingers even tighter.
Her right hand had just begun to heal, but with her thrashing, the seams had ripped open again, causing intense stabbing pain.
The more force she applied, the more pain she felt.
Each cringe reminded her of her pain, but she clenched her fingers even tighter.
Blood seeped out, soaking the bandage on her hand bit by bit.
Lucas Walker’s frown deepened.
But the smile forming on Ivana’s lips was growing thicker by the second, and she stared at him defiantly with her eyes.
If she couldn’t attack him, couldn’t kill Lucas Walker, at least she could make him angry.
His displeasure gave her pleasure!
Seeing her defiant expression made Lucas Walker even more confused.
Was this little thing crazy?
She was fighting him in such a manner!
Lucas Walker had had numerous pets, from wild horses brought back from North America, African lions captured from the savanna of South Africa…
Even the most ferocious animals would have the instinct to avoid harm and they would all eventually submit to him.
She was the first to resist him in such a reckless, death-defying way.
Watching as the color of blood became more and more prominent on her bandages, Lucas Walker’s heart tightened gradually.
With a surge of anger, Lucas Walker reached for her throat.
“Stubborn pets don’t last long!”
