Hearing Cassilia’s words tears couldn’t help but well up and fall from Anne’s eyes as she looked over at her husband and son trying to fight the urge to scream.

“Aww please don’t cry, it’s not as bad as it sounds if humanity has truly advanced as a civilization.

That’s kind of what reality’s veil is for over time it weakens allowing our minds and senses to experience the greater world beyond the physical world.Full novel: Aevum: The Birth Of Everything — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

According to our calculations up until a few weeks ago, the veil should have been stable enough to allow humanity to integrate into these greater worlds over the next 150 years.

So this would have eventually been the case whether we liked it or not.

Remember we’re talking about human evolution here, and for the past 100 years almost all of our most revolutionary world changing advancements involved working with and manipulating the forces of these invisible worlds.” Cassilia spoke as she felt the slight pang in her chest seeing the distraught and endearinglook as Anne gazed at her family.

Hearing this was like another bombshell dropped onto the small family, yet by this point they had began to become accustomed with what they thought they knew being flipped onto their heads.

“So what’s the deal?

What do you want from us and what are you guys offering?” Jason spoke up reminding everyone present the objective of this meeting.

“We want you to help us figure out what has happened to the world…

at this point this world has become the greatest science experiment ever conducted by any human.” King Leonidas said as he began to pull up the last images from crashing satellites.

He also pulled up pictures of earth from outside of its orbit before the event and projected all the images into the hologram machine as they appeared like a slow moving slide show comparing and contrasting the images.

The image from the fallen satellite was blurry, but one thing was clear according to that image whatever space existed around earth before was now more earth as across the horizon a giant white wall could be seen and on the other side another ocean with crystal blue water as if light were shining from the bottom of the ocean.

Seeing these images both Jason and Ethan’s curiosity had been piqued.

“Has anyone collected samples of the wall or the water on the other side?” Ethan asked as he looked intently at the images trying to make out every detail despite the blurred image.

“We sent one of our teams that was stationed at the North Pole to check out the wall, their ship was destroyed by a large underwater creature which we believe was either a mutated squid or some other unknown species.” Kind Leonidas answered, “we can assemble a team that is more capable for this mission, but I thought you may have some vested interest in what is happening here as well.” “It just never ends does it?

How do you expect my son to put himself in such a dangerous situation that even trained military super soldiers and military ships can’t do?!” Anne exclaimed furious, everyone here was being far too casual about all of this and she had had enough, “It’s not good for a pretty lady like yourself to become so upset, besides we can only do a few things at this point, one figure out a new normal way to survive or two, just wait to die like we were doing before this became everyone’s normal.” Captain Aria said seeing that king Leonidas’ patience was wearing thin with Anne’s erratic and emotional nature.

“Don’t worry mom, I don’t think their plan is to feed us to the wolves, at least I hope not.

It sounds to me like you guys are not looking to recruit us into your traditional ranks of FBSA, but you want us to join for this specific job?” Ethan said as he finished analyzing the situation.

“That is precisely correct, with the direction the world is headed we need to consolidate our strengths and assets.

You will be full fledged FBSA members, however rather than having you participate with the other pawns training I’ve prepared a special training for you four and a couple of other people whose abilities may be crucial in your journey.

If you decline or wish to negotiate either is fine.” King Leonids responded enlightened by the brightness of the young fellows before him.

“It sounds like a decent deal, but what if we can’t figure out what happened or why the world is the way it is now?” Jason asked thinking that kind of deal sounded too good to be true, they were being brought on and given special training for the possibility of nothing in return.

Hearing this kind of question Leonidas smiled gently and chuckled saying “then I guess that would be a new normal for all of us to have to get used to.” As he thought about when his life had first flipped itself and normal had become alien to him.

Seeing this kind of response Ethan loosened up, ‘this is the end of the world basically in most people’s minds, but these people realize it’s just the start of a new foreign journey.’ He thought to himself as his mind began to wander.

“If you guys want more time to-” King Leonidas spoke before abruptly being cut off by Ethan.

“No it’s fine it sounds like a good deal and the best option we have for the near future, this is also somewhat my responsibility if I don’t take this opportunity now I may as well be dead.” Ethan spoke as he clenched his fist and cursed himself internally for not having a responsible level of self control, he never had to hit that switch on the time machine he left his kids and wife, and dragged Jason from his only family.

“Not so fast cry baby, before we agree or sign anything we want a clause to terminate if our safety is ever jeopardized by the organization, and a clause that should something happen to any of us our loved ones are to be compensated and a thorough investigation uncovering the total details to include life after death.” Jason said as he wasn’t so bent up about feeling responsible to fix the world he didn’t hit the switch on anyway.

“All fine terms I will have them added, I will also add a clause that lets you guys renegotiate terms whenever you may feel it necessary but if abused then it will have to be taken out.” Kind Leonidas spoke as he personally wrote these things down.

“Do you guys have any questions for us?” King Leonidas asked leaving the table open for further discussion.

“How come you guys have…

superpowers?” Ethan couldn’t help but ask as the question echoed in his mind since he first saw captain aria display her abilities.

“Now that’s a good question, do you know what it is to be human?” Kind Leonidas asked.

“I don’t think I understand your question.” Ethan responded not knowing how to answer.

“Hmm, think of it like this for something to exist it must first be created.

We as humans were created and the abilities and powers we have are also our own creation.

Some people only go so far as to create abilities that are just enough to perfectly fit their comfortable life while we have solely focused on surpassing our human limits and becoming something greater.” King Leonidas spoke.

Hearing this Ethan couldn’t respond it wasn’t a long statement but the depth was almost unimaginable.

Even Anne and Jack had been enlightened by his words, it was true all of their life they had never gone or tried to go past the invisible barriers that people create with information, structure, and equations.

And they knew why, it was because beyond that was the unknown, where one wrong step spelt shame or death.

It was natural to steer clear of it but now it presented itself before all of humanity.
