In the day that followed, many people noticed the forest of blood and realized it contained the bodies of all the sects that had come to the Eastern Region. They realized some power is living in the Eastern Region and was offended by these sects. This led to all these sects being slaughtered.
Everyone was horrified, but then they realized this powerhouse hasn’t come to kill everyone, so maybe this powerhouse only kills those who offended him.
With this thought in mind, the people present in the blood forest breathed a sigh of relief. Suddenly, they saw something: storage rings, treasures, and spirit stones everywhere. The blood forest contained an uncountable amount of them from the people who had died here.
Jiang Yun was too lazy to pick these up, as he didn’t really need them. If he really needed something, it would be easy to get it. Might as well wait to see if it was actually needed then comb through the disgusting forest of blood and take it from corpses.
So, the people in the forest soon realized they had struck it rich. The expert was probably too powerful to even need the things here. So, everyone started to frantically loot everything. On this day, a large amount of people suddenly became wealthy local powers.
Soon, these people went back to their respective homes and spread the news. All the sects that had come into the Eastern Region had died. This frightened all the sects in the Eastern Region; not wanting to offend this unknown person, all the sects in the Eastern Region closed their sect indefinitely.
In this way, if no one went out to offend people, there shouldn’t be anyone to seek justice from them.
This brought cheers and sadness to the mortals. Those with high cultivation talent were sad that they now can’t join a sect to receive resources and training to advance in power. This left them to cultivate alone, which would take much longer to get stronger than normal.
As for those who were happy, they were normal people, as now sects won’t come out and kill indiscriminately, causing massive amounts of death and fear. They can now walk around in town without having to worry about offending a powerful cultivator anymore.
As for those cultivators not in sects, they too became quiet as they had survived so long and gotten so far, there was no need to risk being killed for such minor gains. In this way, the Eastern Region suddenly became much safer and more peaceful.
The only danger now was monsters and strong beasts, but these types of beings usually kept to their territory, and as long as you don’t offend them, they won’t come for you.
So, mortals now spent every day enjoying being outside rather than hiding when they see a cultivator. They all thanked that mysterious power for making all these sects disappear.
Several locals in this peace managed to finally start their businesses that they couldn’t before due to cultivators. New ideas spread and technology grew; things never seen before in the world started to take form and new thinkers could finally come out.
A new age had started where technology was starting to take off in the absence of cultivators. New weapons were made and new day-to-day inventions were made. Mortals suddenly rose in power, all thanks to this peace.
Jiang Yun, not knowing any of this, was still at the Invincible Cloud sect trying to improve his alchemy. So far, he has only made some progress, but it is taking longer to reach a Dao realm pill than he had expected.
It has been several months since he slaughtered the sects that had come to invade; everyone had been making steady progress in seclusion, leaving Jiang Yun alone to continue his research on alchemy.
Finally, after several failed attempts, a pill finally succeeded from his pill refining. This was Jiang Yun’s first successful Golden Immortal pill. It took him much effort, so upon completing his first success, he felt a never-before-felt sense of satisfaction.
Tired from the constant pill making, Jiang Yun didn’t feel like continuing his pill refining. Looking around, he was still alone in this entire sect. So, he decided it was time to get some fresh air and get out of the sect.
Jiang Yun then slowly exited his sect and walked in a random direction to enjoy the scenery. After walking for some time, he saw a nearby village and decided to go take a look.
Upon closer inspecting, this village was quite lively as children ran around freely and people were openly selling their wares without any sense of fear.
This was quite different from the first town he had visited when he came out of seclusion. He didn’t see so many kids running around freely. He also didn’t see so many street merchants selling all their things so openly, not afraid of trouble or being robbed.
This situation was quite interesting to Jiang Yun, as this kind of situation he had only seen on Earth where peace was enforced. This made Jiang Yun wonder what could have changed.
Jiang Yun then walked through the village eating from local stalls filled with delicious food such as sweet hawthorns, steamy hot skewers, a flavorful bowl of noodle soup, and much more. This flavor has also progressed much further than when he first came to a civilization when coming out the mountain.
Jiang Yun then asked a waiter, as he was eating another bowl of noodle soup, what had happened recently as people were not scared and the food tasted better.
The waiter, seeing Jiang Yun was from out of the village, explained, "Ever since the top sects of the continents died, the Eastern Region’s sects have closed their doors and rogue cultivators no longer mess around. They were all frightened by some powerful person living in the Eastern Region and could only wait for this person to calm down."
"Killing so many people meant this powerful force was quite bloodthirsty towards people who offended them. As nobody knows who this person is, these cultivators chose to play it safe and just not offend anyone."
"This led to the emergence of creative people developing new things. The noodle soup you’re eating is from the boss of this restaurant suddenly having more access to food as supply chains now suffer less from robbers, so the materials cost less. The boss can now try to experiment with all kinds of things he hadn’t tried before and made the dish you see today. Many things have changed since sects closed down, and I for one am very grateful to the person who made the situation that is today."
After finishing his explanation, the waiter was called to another table. Jiang Yun then sat alone, thinking about the information he just got.
Jiang Yun thought, So the decision I made that day brought so much fortune. So the decision I made back then was the right one, considering how happy these people are. Perhaps if someone did this for me back when I was a child, maybe things would be different.
Finishing this thought, Jiang Yun finished his bowl of noodles and left. He then wandered the town, seeing new things he hadn’t seen before. Newly designed jewelry, toys that were now moveable, and many more.
Jiang Yun then passed by a weapon shop and saw something he would have never thought to exist in the lower realm. It was a gun; though very primitive, it was something that didn’t even remotely exist before. This gun was a gun that Jiang Yun saw as one of the first guns to be created on Earth. It was really bad for real usage, but it gave mortals power to even fight against a cultivator.
This level of development was too fast. Smart people probably couldn’t expand their theories and had been holed up in fear until now. With their newfound safety, they must have released their ideas and innovation skyrocketed in this period of time.
Jiang Yun then wondered what would become of mortals given their current rate of growth. How long would it take for them to reach Earth’s level of technology? From Jiang Yun’s guess, probably not anytime soon, as it took Earth hundreds of years from the current point of technology currently being seen. Bridging hundreds of years of technology in a short time was unrealistic.
Jiang Yun felt his trip outside the sect was quite pleasant and full of surprises. He then continued to wander around, seeing new things and doing things that wouldn’t have even crossed his mind before.
Such as fishing; Jiang Yun stepped on a fishing boat, trying it out. Though he could easily catch a fish with his bare hands, he still wanted to try catching a fish.
As the day started to end, Jiang Yun hadn’t caught a fish and started feeling for a long time the pains of being a mortal.
With no gains, Jiang Yun decided to end his day and head back to the sect, thinking he’ll try again another day.
Meanwhile, in the Central Region, a hidden force had noticed the absence of a powerful presence for a while now. Servants, after months of information gathering, came to report to the leader of the group.
"Sect master, we have found that the powerful forces have for some reason been eliminated. Now is a good time to expand our demonic path and leave our days hiding from these righteous cultivators."
The sect master then said, "This is very good news, then let us depart and start expanding. Nobody now shall stop us from taking over the Central Region as well as the other regions."
With that said, the demonic sect departed from their hidden sect territory.
