It was a long while after Lin Dongqiang had been taken away by Feng Cang before Chen Qingxue finally came to her senses.
Her mouth hung slightly open, and she stared without blinking, seemingly unable to believe what had just happened!
“You... who exactly are you?”
Chen Qingxue gazed intently at Li Junye.
“Heh heh, if I told you who our Young Master is, you’d probably be scared out of your wits.”
Gou Fugui said smugly, jumping in first.
Chen Qingxue’s expression grew even more complicated. In her mind, she had already taken Li Junye for another man pursuing her!
To be honest, Lin Dongqiang alone had been enough to give her a headache. Now another man had appeared, with an even more powerful background than him....
She truly had no idea whether she could escape his clutches!
Still!
Compared to that scumbag Lin Dongqiang, this guy in front of her seemed a bit more pleasant to look at.
After her thoughts raced for a moment, Chen Qingxue composed herself and said solemnly, “Mr. Li, I know you’re an important person, but I want you to know that if I don’t like a man, then it doesn’t matter even if you’re the Crown Prince!”
With that, she turned to leave.
But Li Junye took a step forward and blocked her way.
“What are you trying to do?”
Chen Qingxue raised an eyebrow.
Instead of answering, Li Junye asked, “What is Elder Chen Qing'an to you?”
Huh?
Chen Qingxue’s gaze instantly turned cold, and she asked warily, “He’s my grandfather. What about it?”
“Then I was right!”
Li Junye nodded with a smile.
He had known Old Old Li and Old Li wouldn’t lie to him. Then he changed the subject. “Take me to your grandfather. You’ll understand what’s going on when we get there.”
Chen Qingxue was full of confusion. Just as she was about to speak, the phone on her rang first.
She quickly pressed the answer button. She said nothing, but her expression darkened at once.
“You wanted to see my grandfather, didn’t you? Come with me!”
Leaving those words behind, Chen Qingxue went around Li Junye and hurried toward the parking lot in her high heels. She got into a sapphire-blue Maserati!
“Let’s go!”
Li Junye didn’t waste time. He motioned for Gou Fugui and Wu Xiangwang to follow.
The three of them got into the car one after another. The moment they had shut the doors, Chen Qingxue floored the accelerator.
After running six red lights, the Maserati pulled into Xuancheng First Hospital just over ten minutes later.
The four of them entered a private room.
An elderly man in his seventies lay on the hospital bed, an oxygen mask over his face and his eyes tightly shut. The readings on the heart monitor made it clear his condition was critical.
“Sis, you’re finally here!”
“How is Grandpa?”
Chen Qingxue asked anxiously.
“You!”
Chen Qingyao was about to speak, but her eyes happened to fall on the three people following behind her sister, including Li Junye.
“What a coincidence!”
Li Junye nodded with a smile, not particularly surprised.
After all, he had long since predicted they would turn out to be twins!
“You know each other?”
Chen Qingxue looked a little surprised.
Chen Qingyao nodded and said, “This gentleman saved me last night when I was making a connecting flight back from the Imperial City.”
Chen Qingxue was bewildered by this, but she had no time to dwell on it. She asked anxiously, “Tell me how Grandpa is doing!”
“There hasn’t been the slightest sign of improvement. The doctors say the only option left is to try a liver transplant.”
Chen Qingyao said, deeply worried.
The hospital had suggested the surgery before, but given Elder Chen’s age and physical condition, it carried an enormous risk. There was a high chance he wouldn’t make it off the operating table, so they had stuck to conservative treatment these past few days.
Chen Qingxue looked at the old man, whose breathing was faint, and her eyes immediately reddened.
Their parents had died young, and their grandfather had raised the two sisters himself. There was no need to say how deep their bond was.
“Excuse me.”
Just then, a doctor in a white coat walked in and asked, “Has the patient’s family made a decision?”
Chen Qingxue and Chen Qingyao exchanged glances, both hesitant.
Seeing this, the doctor continued urging them. “Surgery is the patient’s only remaining option. Every minute you delay increases the risk to his life!”
In an instant, the atmosphere in the room grew even heavier.
“If you go ahead with the transplant, you’ll probably be sending the patient straight through the gates of hell.”
Li Junye, who had been silent for a long time, suddenly spoke.
As soon as he said this, everyone’s attention was drawn to him.
Including the doctor!
“Young man, you can eat whatever you want, but you can’t just say whatever you like!”
The doctor scoffed.
Li Junye shot him a contemptuous glance. Too lazy to waste words, he walked straight up to the old man and pulled a small needle case from his person.
“What are you trying to do?”
Chen Qingxue immediately moved to stop him.
Li Junye said calmly, “If you don’t want your grandfather to meet the King of Hell, then step aside. Now.”
“Y-you know how to treat people?”
Chen Qingyao came over as well.
“I know a little.”
Li Junye said casually.
Nearby, Gou Fugui and Wu Xiangwang looked at each other.
“Fugui, the Young Master’s bragging again. What do we do?”
“Let him brag, then!”
Wu Xiangwang replied, used to it by now.
Gou Fugui shook her head and said, “But the Young Master looks like he’s actually going to treat the patient. What if he ends up killing him?”
“Even if he treats the man to death, our master can afford to compensate them. Don’t worry!”
Wu Xiangwang answered calmly.
Gou Fugui clearly agreed, looking as though she found his reasoning perfectly sound.
“Sir, are you questioning the results of our hospital’s examination?”
The doctor asked, quite displeased.
“Don’t get me wrong.”
Li Junye shrugged and said, “I’m not questioning them. I’m rejecting them!”
The doctor’s face immediately turned livid. He snorted, “Our hospital has the most advanced medical equipment. How can you dismiss our diagnosis with just a few words?”
He then turned to the Chen sisters and warned them, “Let me make this clear: if someone else treats the patient and anything happens to him, our hospital won’t be responsible.”
His words immediately made Chen Qingxue and Chen Qingyao’s hearts leap into their throats.
“I’ll take responsibility if anything happens!”
Li Junye declared boldly.
Between the hospital and Li Junye, any sane person would choose to trust the former.
But...
“Can you really cure my grandfather?”
Chen Qingyao seemed to be the exception.
Seeing her younger sister like this, Chen Qingxue’s eyes widened. “Yaoyao, you want to...?”
“Sis, let him try.”
Chen Qingyao seemed to have made up her mind.
The doctor grew anxious and warned them again, “Our hospital won’t be responsible if anything happens!”
“Enough!”
“Take him outside. No one is to come in for ten minutes!”
Li Junye ordered decisively.
“Doctor, would you rather leave on your own, or have the two of us toss you out?”
Gou Fugui asked arrogantly.
The doctor’s mouth twitched violently a few times. He grumbled angrily, “Don’t you dare regret this!”
Even Chen Qingxue had no idea what had come over her; somehow, she found herself following her younger sister out of the room.
“Yaoyao, how did you meet that guy? And why do you believe he can cure Grandpa...?”
