“Grandma!” Jiang Chuying’s voice was soft, but Grandma Jiang heard her clearly!

“Why come back here instead of resting properly in the hospital?” Just like her mother’s favoritism, Grandma Jiang immediately defended her beloved granddaughter.

Hearing this, Jiang Chuying’s mother wanted to say something, but was stopped by Jiang Chuying herself.Full novel: After being forced to marry a rough man, the fake heiress was thoroughly humiliated. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Facing the elder, even Jiang Chuying’s father wouldn’t dare take their side.

Jiang Chuying had always been good at seizing the moment.

“Hexuan, why are you here? Are you here to see me?” Jiang Chuying asked, feigning shyness.

Ugh! Jiang Chuyao felt a wave of nausea at her oily, flattering demeanor.

“I’m here to see Grandpa and Grandma.” Shen Hexuan gave a simple reply, maintaining the dignity of the Jiang family.

“Are you here to discuss the marriage?” Jiang Chuying’s eyes shone with admiration as she spoke, smiling happily at Shen Hexuan.

Jiang Chuying had never seen this side of her; previously, even when meeting briefly, she had kept her distance and looked rather disdainful.

“Can heart disease transfer?” Shen Hexuan asked, curious.

“Huh?” Jiang Chuying didn’t understand what he meant.

“He means, did you hurt your brain?” Jiang Chuyao thought to herself, feeling clever he spoke, and she instantly understood.

Seeing the two of them exchanging remarks, Grandma Jiang smiled in satisfaction.

It seemed her well-behaved granddaughter would have someone protecting her in the future!

“Hexuan, you’ve always been sensible. What’s going on today? Why are you talking just like Yao Yao?” Although Jiang Chuying’s mother addressed Shen Hexuan, her gaze remained fixed on Jiang Chuyao.

Surely Yao Yao had corrupted him otherwise, how could he speak like that to Chuying!

“Hexuan, my illness will get better soon. You’re not young either… you can… get married!” Since learning that Jiang Chuyao had broken off the engagement with the Tan family, Jiang Chuying had been scheming how to resolve her predicament.

Ultimately, she set her sights on Shen Hexuan, who had just had his engagement canceled.

After all, a marriage between two families wasn’t just about them it was a bond between the households, especially for the older generation, who valued integrity above all.

Shen Hexuan truly hadn’t expected that, even after the engagement was broken, she would still try to latch onto him.

But…

Seeing Shen Hexuan’s lips pressed together in discomfort, Jiang Chuyao felt torn inside.

Fine, she’d owed him twice anyway; she might as well consider it repaying a favor.

“Older sister, how did you know we were about to get married?” Jiang Chuyao asked, linking arms with Shen Hexuan as if they were close, leaving Jiang Chuying flabbergasted.

“You two? Doing this how could you do this to me!” Jiang Chuying cried in heartbreak.

Thinking of what had happened before her hospitalization, it was all out in the open now. The Tan family’s lineage would never accept someone like her into the family.

And yet, even Shen Hexuan the only one who could have “taken her in” had been snatched away!

Even if her heart were strong, she couldn’t bear it; let alone now, when she was in poor health!

Feeling wronged, she looked to her mother, hoping she would intervene. “Mom, I guess I’m just unlucky.” Tears trickled down her face.

If one didn’t know, they’d think she had suffered a tremendous injustice.

“Yao Yao, how could you steal your sister’s fiancé!” Seeing her eldest daughter breaking down, Jiang Chuying’s mother felt distressed.

Without considering Grandma Jiang’s presence, she voiced her scolding.

“Steal? Who’s stealing from whom? The name on the engagement notice was mine! The token was mine! What? Just because you’re used to taking over nests, you think you can take over this one, too?”

Jiang Chuyao didn’t need anyone’s support to hold her ground she could do it herself.

“That’s right, from start to finish, the engagement was always with Yao Yao. As for the Shen family secretly swapping daughters, our family never agreed.” Shen Hexuan spoke the truth.

He had formally rejected Jiang Chuying twice when visiting her home. It was precisely because of these two refusals that Jiang Nanshan’s couple had pushed her toward him but he had righteously declined.

Yet somehow, rumors began circulating that he was engaged to Jiang Chuying!

“I know, you all despise me, but was it my choice? It wasn’t because of me it was because Yao Yao’s messy private life caused me all this trouble!” Jiang Chuying cried, as if spilling all the blame onto Jiang Chuyao.

“Yao Yao, are you trying to kill your sister?” Jiang Chuying’s mother felt for her eldest daughter, thinking she was already fragile, and now had suffered such a blow. As family, she should be cared for, not constantly bullied.

Hearing this, Jiang Chuyao smiled. “Grandma, this house wasn’t it given to me?”

“Yes, my dear granddaughter. Even if Grandpa and I had only one penny left, it would be yours.” Grandma Jiang lightly patted her granddaughter’s hand, her eyes full of affection.

“Since Madam Jiang is so fond of her granddaughter, I think you two should leave now!” Initially, Jiang Chuyao had wanted to leave Jiang Chuying behind, slowly tormenting her.

But seeing her mother’s lack of principles, she realized it was better to live apart. She had her career to focus on; living together would be inconvenient.

“Since my well-behaved granddaughter has spoken, you two mother and daughter should pack up and leave!” Grandma Jiang never denied her granddaughter anything.

Jiang Chuying’s mother was dumbfounded. “Mom, if I leave, where am I supposed to go?”

“Yang Peiqin, you only care about your adopted eldest daughter, constantly looking down on my well-behaved granddaughter. Why should you stay in her house?”

“Mom, it’s not like that. I just want the two sisters to get along and support each other!” Yang Peiqin’s explanation sounded weak, even failing to convince herself.

“Grandma, I don’t feel well. Can I go inside first?” Jiang Chuying hadn’t expected that, after causing a scene, the stubborn old lady wouldn’t let her stay. Even her mother had to leave how could that be acceptable?

This house, her father had said, would be hers in the future.

She wouldn’t leave; if anyone had to leave, it would be Jiang Chuyao!

She began acting weak, unable to stand.

“If you’re unwell, go to the hospital. After causing such a mess, just leave and let us have peace!” Grandma Jiang’s words cut deep, each one stabbing at her.

Even Shen Hexuan, standing nearby, couldn’t help but chuckle. Turning slightly, he let out a small laugh, unable to contain himself.
