Doctor Su replied instantly: “Frigid? My dear eldest miss, who is frigid?”
Zhong Chu had been in poor health since childhood and had frequent dealings with doctors. This particular doctor was an elder who had watched her grow up; coming from a renowned medical family with a background just as formidable as her own, their families had been close for generations. Being family friends, they naturally spoke to each other without much reservation.
Mindful of An Yanqing’s stiff pride, Zhong Chu did not speak plainly. Instead, she glossed over the truth, using the “I have a friend” tactic to transparently shoulder the diagnosis on An Yanqing’s behalf.
Doctor Su said meaningfully: “Oh, a friend, I see…”
The string of ellipses that followed was quite telling.
Zhong Chu hadn’t thought much of it initially, but faced with this attitude, a sense of shame belatedly bubbled up for reasons she couldn’t quite grasp.
Feeling piqued, she wanted to withdraw the message. But just as her finger pressed down on it, Doctor Su’s messages began flooding in, one after another, the pings incessant as they scrolled rapidly up the screen.
“Eldest miss, I heard you and An Yanqing registered your marriage? Your physical exam reports have always been normal, and your upbringing doesn’t fit the psychological profile for sexual frigidity.”
“Therefore, I am more inclined to suspect that Miss An’s abilities are limited, and she is unable to provide you with pleasure and satisfaction in sexual matters.”
Zhong Chu froze. Immediately following that, she saw the doctor send over a plethora of erotic images, data, and websites, saying unceremoniously: “When it comes to understanding your physical condition, I dare say no one ranks higher than me.”
“First, you are very healthy. Do not doubt yourself; be adept at seeking the cause in others.”
“Secondly, in the treatment of frigidity, the cooperation of your partner is equally important. As your partner, if it is because her lack of ability prevents you from experiencing pleasure and satisfaction, then that is her problem.”
“Eldest miss, first let Miss An have a good look at these study materials. Let her pursue some advanced studies and seriously learn the techniques that can make you happy.”
When Zhong Chu saw this, her heart gave a violent thud. She scrambled into a sitting position on the bed, her sleepiness instantly terrified away.
This was bad! She seemed to have made a mess of things!
Originally, to protect An Yanqing’s self-esteem, she had intentionally set a linguistic trap. In Doctor Su’s eyes, she naturally assumed the person suffering from frigidity was Zhong Chu herself.
Who would have thought it would backfire, leading the doctor to doubt An Yanqing’s capabilities instead? As for An Yanqing’s techniques, how could Zhong Chu possibly know?!
As the Zhong family’s private doctor, and given how much the heads of the household valued Zhong Chu’s health, Doctor Su would carefully report any issues regarding her to the Old Master and Zhong Chu’s parents.
A person who was perfectly normal before suddenly becomes frigid after moving in with An Yanqing?
Zhong Chu hardly dared to imagine what her relatives would think if they found out, or what kind of negative views they would develop toward An Yanqing.
Zhong Chu paced her thoughts, typing and deleting text in the chat box over and over. Finally, she managed to squeeze out a single sentence: “It’s my friend, it really is just a friend…”
Doctor Su: “…Fine, I understand, it’s your friend. Therefore, let your friend’s partner study this knowledge well.”
Zhong Chu urgently urged: “Please protect my friend’s privacy! It’s only because this matter is a bit embarrassing to talk about that she asked me to ask you. Sister Su, this really shouldn’t be known by others.”
There was a moment of silence on the other end before Doctor Su sent a long paragraph: “Parents are always worried about their children’s situation. I can refrain from telling them for now, but I must follow up on the progress.”
“I need to ensure this matter won’t have too much of an impact on your friend’s physical and mental well-being, and that there is a good outcome, before I can feel at ease not letting them intervene.”
With that concession, Zhong Chu let out a long sigh of relief. Her heart, which had been hanging in mid-air, finally landed, and she collapsed back onto the bed: “Thank you, Sister Su.”
Only now did she have the mind to look at the so-called “study materials.” The moment she clicked on a video, two figures entwined like snakes appeared, accompanied by heavy breathing, ambiguous moans, and even the distinct sound of wet squelching, all drilling into her ears.
Zhong Chu was stunned for a second, only realizing the nature of the content a beat too late. The next second, she slammed the phone face-down on the bed, her earlobes turning completely red.
But the sound did not stop.
The noises by her ear grew more intense women’s flirtatious groans and soft huffs mixed with further escalating ambiguity. The sound seemed to have grown legs; it was beyond mental control, brushing past Zhong Chu’s flushed ears and hooking directly into her thoughts.
She slowly poked her face out from the quilt and, as if snatching a chestnut from a fire, reached out with a trembling hand to grab the phone. Just as she was about to turn it off, there was a sudden knock on the door.
An Yanqing’s voice was the same as always, light and devoid of emotion: “Zhong Chu, are you asleep?”
“Just now, Doctor Su suddenly sent me a lot of strange videos and told me to study them seriously. Do you know what’s going on?”
Zhong Chu’s arm gave a violent jerk. The phone slipped from her palm and thudded straight onto the floor.
She scrambled to pick it up, but as the saying goes, “misfortunes never come singly.” Her luck was abysmal; the screen shattered upon impact and went black. No matter how she tapped the touch screen, it wouldn’t respond.
Unfortunately, the ambiguous squelching sounds showed no sign of dissipating. Zhong Chu broke into a panicked sweat, desperately mashing the volume buttons in an attempt to terminate the awful noise.
However, it seemed the phone was truly broken. No matter how hard she tried, the sound refused to disappear.
Silence fell outside the door. She even suspected that in this dead quiet, An Yanqing could hear the suggestive sounds coming from her phone through the door.
Otherwise, why would she suddenly ask, after a brief silence: “Zhong Chu, don’t you think this sound is a bit familiar?”
Zhong Chu gripped the phone so hard she could have almost crushed it entirely.
She froze in place, not knowing how to respond. At this moment, all the gratitude she had felt for Doctor Su had turned into resentment.
If that damned culprit were standing in front of her now, she doubted she could stop herself from crushing the woman alive in her state of mortification!
“Zhong Chu, are you in the room?”
An Yanqing’s unhurried questioning was like the tolling of a death knell, strike after strike against Zhong Chu’s forehead. In the end, facts do not shift according to human will; what must be faced must be faced.
Zhong Chu felt as though her brain was about to boil, but she managed to find a trace of logic within the chaos.
Holding the phone, she wished she could take a hammer to the wretched thing and destroy all evidence, but she could only helplessly shove it under her pillow.
Then, she piled layer upon layer of blankets over it, attempting to muffle the startling noises inside the room.
Her voice was as stiff as a recording: “An Yanqing, you heard wrong. There is no sound in my room.”
Whether An Yanqing believed her or not was unclear. Zhong Chu only heard her give a faint, almost imperceptible laugh, her tone playful: “I heard wrong? No sound?”
