Enzo looked at Chu Yuan in surprise. “Mr. Chu was at the crime scene?”
Chu Yuan leaned lazily against the back of the sofa, his slender eyes slightly upturned.
His gaze swept over Ye Jiuting’s face, distant and indifferent, as if he had never seen her before.
“No.”
Enzo laughed heartily and gestured to the bodyguard behind him.
Before Ye Jiuting could say another word, her mouth was covered, and she was forcibly dragged away.
She was taken into a room meant for entertainment.
In the center stood a pole for pole dancing, with another spare pole lying on the floor.
Afraid she might escape, the bodyguard handcuffed her to the pole.
He warned her in English, “Try anything funny, and we’ll throw you into the sea to feed the fish.”
Ye Jiuting said, “I’ve been wronged.”
No one paid her any attention. The bodyguard simply closed the door and left.
Ye Jiuting kicked the pole, but it didn’t budge. Her own leg hurt so much she could barely stand.
She simply sat down against the pole, thinking about how to save herself.
As she thought, she began to feel drowsy.
She had been injected with drugs earlier, and last night had been a “hard-fought” battle.
Both physically and mentally, she was completely drained.
The moment she closed her eyes, a basin of cold water was thrown over her.
Ye Jiuting opened her eyes, her vision blurred by water droplets clinging to her lashes, and saw Enzo’s face looming close.
He crouched down, holding a document in his hand.
“Doctor, sign this document, and you can go home.”
No investigation, no questioning, and no chance for Ye Jiuting to defend herself.
She glanced at the document—it was entirely in English.
The bold words “Confession Statement” were unmistakable.
This guy was trying to trick her into signing a confession.
“I didn’t commit any crime. I won’t sign it.”
“If you don’t sign…” Enzo smiled, his slender eyes narrowing like a cunning fox, evil and cruel.
“Hold her down and force her to sign.”
The two bodyguards behind him moved at his command, advancing toward Ye Jiuting.
“I’ll sign.” Ye Jiuting had no other choice.
First, survive. Then, figure out the rest.
She lifted her sore hand. “How can I sign like this?”
Enzo gestured to the bodyguard.
The bodyguard unlocked one of Ye Jiuting’s handcuffs, freeing her hand from the pole.
Enzo handed her a pen and pointed to the spot where she needed to sign. “Sign here. Both your Chinese and English names.”
“Alright.” Ye Jiuting reached for the pen.
Just as she was about to touch it, she suddenly changed direction and struck Enzo’s neck with a swift chop.
Enzo froze for a moment, his vision went dark, and he collapsed toward Ye Jiuting.
Ye Jiuting dodged immediately but was a step too slow. He landed on her toes.
She sprang up, grabbed the spare pole from the floor, and swung it at the bodyguard charging toward her.
The bodyguard flinched and dodged. She dropped the pole, pulled open the door, and rushed out.
“Catch her! Don’t let her escape!”
A group of bodyguards stationed outside swarmed in from all directions.
Unfamiliar with the place, Ye Jiuting ran around like a headless fly, finding herself blocked at every turn.
The encirclement tightened. The bodyguards glared fiercely, flexing their muscular arms as if ready to devour her alive.
Ye Jiuting gasped for breath, exhausted, anxious, and panicked.
Someone pushed her, and she stumbled forward.
Another push sent her stumbling backward…
In her ears, she could hear the excited shouts of the men.
“Damn, are all Eastern beauties this fragrant? I can’t take it anymore. Once she signs the confession, let’s ask Mr. Enzo to let us have some fun with her.”
“Hehe! Her fearful eyes are truly captivating.”
“A beauty like this should spend the rest of her life in a man’s bed, not in prison.”
The sinister tone and aggressive gaze coiled around Ye Jiuting like a venomous snake, suffocating her and sending chills down her spine.
For the first time, Ye Jiuting experienced true despair!
Suddenly, the sound of a door opening came from behind.
Turning her head, Ye Jiuting saw Chu Yuan and Wang Zhenghang emerge from the doorway.
Seizing the moment when the bodyguard relaxed his grip, she pushed him aside and rushed to Chu Yuan’s side, looking at him pleadingly.
“Mr. God of Gamblers, I really am innocent. Please, for last night’s sake, help me.”
Chu Yuan didn’t look at her, merely murmuring softly, “Last night, I already helped you.”
“I am grateful for your help. Please, save me. I am willing to do anything for you.”
“Is that so?” Chu Yuan finally lowered his gaze to look at her.
“Yes.” Ye Jiuting watched him expectantly, praying he would nod.
Chu Yuan said, “On this ship, only my maids receive my protection. Do you wish to become my maid?”
The God of Gamblers was the master of this ship, its very deity.
As long as he offered his protection, no one could touch the person under his care before they disembarked.
The term “maid” was a relic of a bygone era.
It sounded awkward.
But at this moment, Ye Jiuting had no choice but to cling to the God of Gamblers as her lifeline, the only hope for survival.
“I am willing.”
“Have you thought it through?” Chu Yuan’s tone deepened, as pleasant as the sound of a cello.
“I have thought it through,” Ye Jiuting replied firmly.
Enzo, followed by his bodyguards, rushed out and saw Ye Jiuting standing behind Chu Yuan.
He apologized to Wang Zhenghang and Chu Yuan, “My apologies. I failed to handle my private affairs properly, allowing her to escape and disturb your enjoyment.”
Then, turning to the bodyguards behind him, he commanded, “Take her away.”
A group of black-clad bodyguards moved at his words.
Nervously, Ye Jiuting took a step closer to Chu Yuan.
Chu Yuan’s gaze swept past the crowd and settled on Enzo.
“Mr. Enzo, this young lady is now under my protection. You cannot touch her.”
Enzo narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing Ye Jiuting.
This woman was quite resourceful, securing the God of Gamblers’ protection in just a few seconds.
“As far as I know, according to the rules of the Renjian Hao, only those who have fully become the God of Gamblers’ maids receive your protection. Have you signed a contract?”
Chu Yuan replied, “We just made a verbal agreement.”
A flicker of murderous intent flashed in Enzo’s eyes before he concealed it again.
“Since she is under the God of Gamblers’ protection, I naturally abide by the rules and will not touch her.”
Chu Yuan turned to Ye Jiuting and said, “Let’s go.”
Ye Jiuting obediently followed the God of Gamblers as they left, but Enzo called out, “Wait.”
Chu Yuan stopped and turned to look at him. “Is there something else?”
His lips pressed into a cold line, and the casual smile vanished from his face.
Those familiar with him knew his patience was wearing thin.
The last person who angered him was politely sent away at the time.
The next day, that person was found dead in their own room.
The investigation concluded it was a heart attack.
A month later, that person’s family went bankrupt, and several members jumped to their deaths.
Those who survived emigrated, vanishing without a trace.
Everyone said the God of Gamblers was ruthless, a living king of hell.
No one dared to provoke him recklessly again.
