13 – Am I going to have a baby?

His hand touched a soft, plump mound, and Qin Feng abruptly opened his eyes.

Through the thin layer of clothing, Taohua moved Qin Feng’s hand.Full novel: After Breaking Off the Engagement, I Married a Rugged Mountain Man and Was Pampered into a Treasure in Three Days — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Qin Feng’s breath hitched, and he instinctively tightened his grip.

Though Taohua had already bitten her lip, a soft, delicate moan still escaped her mouth.

“Brother Qin…”

“Hmm,” Qin Feng let out a low, guttural sound from his throat, then suddenly leaned in and swallowed all of her sweet sounds.

Taohua felt the man was like a ball of fire. He held her from behind, almost burning her into a daze.

The next day.

Qin Feng woke up early. When he made some noise, Taohua was still half-asleep.

Seeing his little wife couldn’t even open her eyes, Qin Feng wanted to let her sleep a bit longer.

“Maybe I should go to town alone today. It’s over ten miles round trip. Just tell me whatever you want to buy.”

Hearing that Qin Feng didn’t plan to take her to town, Taohua immediately sat up in bed.

“I’m going, I’m going, Brother Qin! I want to go with you!”

Taohua said “I’m going” three times in a row, leaving Qin Feng momentarily stunned.

This girl, so excited… It wasn’t that he wouldn’t let her go; he just saw she was sleeping soundly.

As he fastened his belt, he said, “Then lie down a bit longer. I’ll go boil some water first.”

Taohua still insisted, “I’ll go with you!”

As she spoke, she put on her clothes and tried to climb out of bed.

But as soon as she moved, she let out a soft “Ah!”

“What’s wrong?” Qin Feng thought a centipede or some other insect had gotten into the bedding, so he immediately pulled the quilt aside.

Once the quilt was lifted, Taohua’s legs were exposed to Qin Feng’s gaze. In the dim morning light, her skin was dazzlingly fair.

“It’s cold, Brother Qin.”

“I thought there was an insect in the bedding.” Seeing Taohua was fine, Qin Feng covered her with the quilt again. “What happened just now? What’s wrong?”

“Um…” Taohua stammered, “When I moved just now… something flowed out. Brother Qin…”

Taohua looked at Qin Feng with wide, pleading eyes, her voice soft and delicate. “Does that mean I’ll soon be pregnant with our baby?”

Qin Feng stood there, momentarily stunned. Truthfully, he had never thought about this before.

But since he and his little wife had already consummated their marriage, having children was only a matter of time.

Although he had never considered it before, for some reason, he now felt a sudden sense of anticipation.

“It depends on fate. Maybe we’ll have a child soon. Be good and lie down for now. I’ll bring you water in a moment.”

Taohua nodded. Her waist and legs were indeed still a bit sore, and she actually wanted to lie down a little longer.

However, at this hour, Taohua couldn’t fall back asleep. All she could think about was whether she would have good luck when they went out later.

After all, she had just been intimate with Brother Qin twice last night, and now she was waiting for him to bring her good fortune!

Not long after, Qin Feng indeed came in with a basin of hot water.

By the time Taohua finished washing up, Qin Feng had already prepared breakfast, along with the furs and game they planned to sell in town that day.

Although these items didn’t look like much, they filled two baskets.

Coincidentally, it was market day, and Taohua hoped these goods would fetch a good price.

But who would have thought that by the time they arrived in town, many hunters from other villages had already set up their stalls in the market.

Now the young couple had encountered competition.

Taohua had been hoping that the goods brought by her Brother Qin Feng would fetch a good price, but looking around now, it seemed the entire street was nearly covered with furs.

“How could this be?” Taohua couldn’t help but mutter softly. “So many people have come to sell furs.”

“Probably because the New Year is approaching. Others had the same idea as us—they saved up for half a year before bringing them out to sell.”

After saying this, Qin Feng noticed Taohua’s spirits had already dampened by half, so he comforted her, “If we really can’t sell them today, I can always make another trip to the county town in a couple of days.”

“But the county town is so far away!”

As they were talking, a middle-aged man came over to greet them.

It seemed he and Qin Feng had known each other before, and the two quickly struck up a conversation.

The man sighed and lamented, “This year’s New Year is probably going to be tough. I heard that our regular fur merchant, Master Li, has already collected a lot of good furs up north this year. By the time he gets here, he might not need much from us.

We both missed the last market day, and that was a huge loss. He bought quite a few furs back then, but this time, he probably won’t take much.

If I’d known earlier, I wouldn’t have kept my goods stored at home, hoping to sell them for a good price during the New Year. Now, it looks like they’re all stuck in my hands!”

Hearing this news, Qin Feng frowned slightly.

Earlier, to propose marriage at Taohua’s home, he had spent all the silver he had saved up for a long time.

Actually, the New Year didn’t hold any special meaning for him—he could make do with whatever food or lodging he had.

But now things were different. He was a married man, and he couldn’t let his young wife suffer through coarse food and hardship during the festive season.

“If it really comes to it, we’ll just have to sell them cheap.”

The man opposite him also sighed. “Yeah, keeping them until next year won’t do any good.”

Just as they were speaking, the surroundings suddenly erupted into a commotion.

It turned out the fur merchant had arrived.

As soon as the fur merchant appeared, everyone started shouting and clamoring.

“Master Li, take a look at my furs—they’re especially good!”

“Master Li, look at mine—white, gray, black, I have all colors!”

“Here, here, here! Master Li, look over here! I got a fiery fox fur the other day—this bright red color is truly precious!”

Hearing everyone call him Master Li, Taohua couldn’t help but crane her neck to get a better look.

“Brother Qin, is that man the fur merchant? Did you sell all the furs you hunted in previous years to him?”

“Yes, he’s the only one in town who buys them. In the past, he would personally come to select the furs. But today, he didn’t even glance at them. It seems he really doesn’t plan to buy.”

“Ah?” Taohua sighed inwardly, thinking her luck today wasn’t so great either!

Meanwhile, Master Li had already been surrounded by the crowd.

Everyone was pleading with him to buy their furs.

Master Li, overwhelmed by the noise, had no choice but to shout, “Everyone, everyone, it’s not that I don’t want to buy—it’s just that I really can’t take any more.

Just look at how much you’ve all brought today!

Usually, when I ask you for good furs, you all hide them away. If you don’t give them to me, of course, I have to find ways to get them elsewhere.”

“Now that I can’t take any more, you can’t say I’m being unfair. How about this—I’ll accept one last family this year, okay?”
