When Gu Anyun woke up, the small nightlight on the bedside table was on, and the room was quiet.

She rubbed her eyes and sat up, glancing at the time.

She turned on the light, threw off the covers, slipped on her cotton slippers, and headed toward the door.

Opening the door, she stepped out and walked straight to the study.

Inside the study, Jin Chenyue was in the middle of a video conference. When a knock sounded, he looked up toward the door. “Come in.”

The doorknob turned, and the door was pushed open.

Gu Anyun walked in, still drowsy-eyed, and called out softly, “Husband~”

The executives on the other end of the video call: “?!”

Jin Chenyue’s breath hitched, and he abruptly stood up.

“I’m in a meeting. Don’t come over just yet.”

Gu Anyun, still a bit groggy from just waking up, didn’t catch what Jin Chenyue said and ran straight toward him.

Seeing her open her arms, Jin Chenyue hurriedly snapped his laptop shut with a “thud”!

The next second, a soft, fragrant warmth filled his embrace.

Gu Anyun wrapped her arms around his firm, toned waist, nuzzling her cheek against the fabric of his shirt, her eyes still sleepy. “Why didn’t you wake me up? If I sleep this late, how am I supposed to sleep tonight?”

Jin Chenyue braced one hand on the desk, the other barely supporting her waist.

She truly trusted him—once in his arms, she let go of all her weight.

Jin Chenyue’s Adam’s apple bobbed, and he let out a soft sigh. “You were sleeping so soundly, I couldn’t bear to wake you.”

His voice was deep, slightly hoarse, and now, speaking such considerate, gentle words, it only added to his allure.

Gu Anyun’s drowsiness completely vanished. She raised a hand to touch her slightly flushed cheeks. “Husband, you’re so good~”

“…”

He wasn’t good. Not good at all.

With such soft warmth in his arms, yet unable to do anything!

He took a deep breath and released her. “Are you hungry?”

Gu Anyun looked up, resting her chin against his chest, and nodded at him.

Freshly awakened, her cheeks were rosy, her pink lips slightly pouted, exuding a charming, delicate air.

Jin Chenyue, while enduring this damnable visual impact, calmly pushed her away.

He maintained a serious demeanor, though his voice was a bit hoarse. “What would you like to eat?”

Gu Anyun didn’t notice his unusual state. The grogginess from just waking up had passed, and she glanced down at her nightgown, suddenly feeling a bit embarrassed.

She quickly turned to look at the desk.

Seeing the already closed laptop, she breathed a sigh of relief, but then remembered something and looked up at Jin Chenyue.

She blinked innocently. “Husband, I didn’t disturb your work, did I?”

“No.” Jin Chenyue ruffled her hair. “Go back to the room and change first. Tell me what you want to eat, and I’ll have Nan Qiu instruct the kitchen to make it fresh.”

“I want steak!”

Jin Chenyue frowned. “Steak isn’t an option yet. You just got out of the hospital; your diet should still be light.”

Gu Anyun: “…”

She pouted, her dissatisfaction obvious.

This expression was quite similar to how she looked as a child.

Utterly adorable.

Jin Chenyue chuckled softly, gently tapping the tip of her nose with his finger. His warm, steady voice coaxed her patiently, “Be good, hold on for two more days. After that, I’ll let you eat whatever you want, okay?”

Gu Anyun was somewhat reluctant, but as she looked at Jin Chenyue’s handsome face, a sudden thought crossed her mind.

“I can be good, but you have to give me a reward!”

Jin Chenyue felt that as long as she cooperated, rewards were trivial matters.

“Alright, what reward do you want?” he agreed readily.

Gu Anyun raised her eyebrows. “I’ll tell you after dinner.”Jin Chenyue nodded, “Alright.”

“Deal!” Gu Anyun extended her hand, “Pinky promise, whoever breaks it is a puppy!”

Jin Chenyue looked at the little pinky held out before him, and a flood of memories instantly surfaced in his mind.

Little Xitang was just like this in their childhood.

Lively and adorable, full of little schemes, yet it was precisely this that made her so delightfully quirky.

Jin Chenyue’s heart raced a bit, overwhelmed by memories, completely failing to notice the hint of cunning hidden in the woman’s smiling eyes.

He cheerfully hooked pinkies with her, watching her turn and walk away, his lips curling upward uncontrollably.

Nan Qiu had the kitchen prepare a light, easily digestible, and nutritious meal.

While Gu Anyun ate, Jin Chenyue resumed the meeting that had been left unfinished.

After the meeting ended, he closed his laptop, took off his glasses, leaned back in his executive chair, and rubbed his sore temples.

For the past three days, he had stayed by the hospital day and night, hardly sleeping, and a lot of work had piled up.

After returning home in the afternoon, he had been busy nonstop. Dinner was brought to the study by Nan Qiu, and after hurriedly eating a few bites, he dove back into work.

Later, there was still an overseas video conference.

Jin Chenyue picked up the landline on the desk and dialed the internal line.

The call connected, and Nan Qiu’s respectful voice came through the receiver, “Sir.”

“Bring a cup of coffee up.”

“Right away.”

Nan Qiu hung up the phone.

Gu Anyun set down her soup spoon and picked up a napkin to wipe her mouth.

“Nan Qiu.”

Nan Qiu responded immediately and stepped forward, “Young Madam, what can I do for you?”

“What did my husband ask you to do?”

The words ‘my husband’ now rolled off Gu Anyun’s tongue with such naturalness and excessive sweetness.

Nan Qiu marveled inwardly but kept her expression neutral, “Young Master asked me to bring a cup of coffee upstairs.”

Hearing this, Gu Anyun frowned slightly, “Is he still working overtime?”

“Most likely.” Nan Qiu hesitated for a moment before adding, “Young Madam, during the three days you were unconscious, Young Master stayed by your side day and night, postponing many meetings and engagements.”

“I see…” Gu Anyun lowered her gaze, tapping her fingertip against her lower lip, lost in thought.

Seeing her silent, Nan Qiu said, “Young Madam, I’ll go prepare the coffee for Sir first.”

“I’ll do it!” Gu Anyun stood up, looking at Nan Qiu, “I may not be able to help with work matters, but I can certainly make him a cup of coffee myself.”

Nan Qiu looked at her, seeing her earnest expression, hesitated for a long moment, but couldn’t resist asking, “Young Madam, have you ever made coffee before?”

Gu Anyun froze for a second, thought about it, and shook her head, “No, but I can learn now.”

Nan Qiu opened her mouth, then swallowed the words she wanted to say.

Forget it, whether it tastes good or not isn’t the most important thing.

What matters is that Young Madam rarely wants to be good to Young Master; she should help make it happen!

Half an hour later, under Nan Qiu’s guidance, Gu Anyun’s first-ever self-brewed cup of coffee was born.

Gu Anyun declined Nan Qiu’s offer to help and carried the steaming coffee upstairs herself.

She arrived outside the study door and raised her hand to knock.

Inside the study, the man resting with his eyes closed in the executive chair heard the knock and, assuming it was Nan Qiu, said calmly, “Come in.”

The doorknob turned, and the door was gently pushed open.

“Husband~”

Jin Chenyue’s nerves jolted, as if startled from a dream. He abruptly opened his eyes and sat up straight.

Gu Anyun walked to the desk, placed the coffee on it, and looked at him with a beaming smile, “Dear Mr. Jin, here is the coffee you ordered, handcrafted by Little Xitang. Please enjoy~”
