“All this commotion over a Yan Shi?” Yan Yi’s face was twisted with indignation, her eyes burning with jealousy.

Why should Yan Shi get this kind of treatment the moment she returned? Even when Grandfather was home before, it had never been this extravagant.

“Exactly, Dad. Don’t you think this is making too big a deal out of things?” Yan Shen chimed in.Full novel: After Divorce, President Shen Nightly Climbs the Window With Their Cute Baby to Chase His Wife — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“You two had better shut your mouths. If anyone dares to provoke Yan Shi this time, get the hell out of the Yan family!” Yan Feihong’s tone was stern, his sharp gaze sweeping over each of them one by one.

It scared everyone into not daring to breathe.

Yan Feiyu’s cheek was still slightly swollen, and she had no desire to argue with Yan Feihong at the moment.

She wanted to see whether that damned girl could really save the Yan family from the fire.

Two hours passed, and there was still no sign of Yan Shi outside the door.

Yan Feihong kept calling her phone, but there was no response.

“That damned girl is playing us! She never intended to come back. She deliberately made us put on this show, made sure everyone knew about it, just to laugh at us!”

Yan Feiyu was fuming, making as if to charge out, wishing she could rush to that little wretch’s face and get that slap back.

The moment she finished speaking, a commotion suddenly arose outside the door.

“Miss Yan is back!” someone exclaimed.

The dejected reporters immediately perked up and swarmed forward.

A low-key yet luxurious Maybach pulled up outside the Yan family’s main gate. Through the tinted glass, facing the reporters’ enthusiasm, Yan Shi merely waved her hand.

Wang Cheng understood at once, got out of the car, blocked the reporters in front of the vehicle, and pulled out red envelopes he had prepared in advance from his pocket.

“Thank you all for your hard work. Our young mistress has just gotten off the plane and isn’t in the best condition, so she won’t be accepting any interviews for now. There will be plenty of time ahead, and we hope you’ll all show your continued support.”

Wang Cheng spoke smoothly as he handed out the red envelopes.

Someone opened one, glanced inside, and immediately broke into a delighted smile: “Please rest assured, Miss Yan. We know exactly what to write. We won’t disturb Miss Yan’s rest any further.”

The crowd left satisfied.

Inside the gate.

Seeing Yan Shi, Yan Feihong immediately stepped forward to greet her: “Shishi, I specially brought those reporters here. After all, you’re the head of the Yan family now, so you need to make a statement to the public.”

He had paid for those reporters out of his own pocket, and for her to dismiss them so easily—what a waste.

Yan Shi wore a black knee-length dress, revealing her even, fair calves, making her look even more slender and graceful.

“I appreciate your kindness, Second Uncle. But before I came back today, I suddenly remembered that I hadn’t yet paid my respects to my parents, so I made a detour to the cemetery on the way. My apologies for keeping everyone waiting.” Yan Shi sat in the single sofa, her tone indifferent, with no hint of remorse.

“Of course, of course.” Yan Feihong was momentarily taken aback, then quickly nodded in agreement.

Yan Shi looked at everyone with a smile that didn’t reach her eyes. No matter how much these people despised her, they all wore hypocritical smiles on their faces at this moment.

“Shishi, why don’t you rest for a bit, and later go to the company with your Second Uncle? There’s a shareholders’ meeting this morning.” Yan Feihong leaned forward slightly, speaking to her in a consultative tone.

“Sure.” Yan Shi agreed without hesitation.

At ten o’clock in the morning, the top-floor conference room of the Yan Group.

“I said we should have sold off our shares early while there were still people willing to buy them. Don’t wait until it’s too late to salvage anything—by then, regret won’t do us any good.”

“Exactly, exactly. Director Zheng is right. The stock price drops every single day. What if it falls below the issue price…”

“Didn’t President Yan say he’d already thought of a solution? Why hasn’t he shown up yet?”

“What solution could he possibly have? He’s just putting up a stubborn front.”

Standing outside the conference room door, Yan Shi listened to the murmurs inside and curled the corners of her lips before pushing the door open in one decisive motion.

“If anyone here wants to play it safe and protect their own interests, now’s the time to exit Yan Corporation. No matter how many shares you hold, I’ll buy them all at market price. You won’t take a loss.”

The moment Yan Shi spoke, the conference room fell silent.

Everyone turned to look at the entrance.

Yan Shi walked calmly and steadily to the head of the table, sat down without the slightest hesitation, and wore a smile on her face.

“Who are you? A little girl spouting empty boasts like that. Do you think this is some place where you can run wild?” Director Zheng shot up from his seat, slamming his hand on the conference table with a low growl.

“Who I am—you’ll find out soon enough.” Her smile faded, and Yan Shi’s cold eyes turned as sharp and deep as ice. “Yan Corporation is on the brink of collapse, and instead of thinking about how to turn things around, all you can think about is fleeing when disaster strikes. That’s understandable, I suppose. This is your one and only chance.”

“Ah Cheng!” Yan Shi gestured.

Wang Cheng immediately placed several share transfer agreements in front of the directors led by Director Zheng.

Yan Feihong stood at the doorway, utterly stunned. It was clear that Yan Shi had long since understood the dynamics of the board and had distinguished friend from foe.

In just one morning, Yan Shi had acquired twelve percent of the company’s shares. Combined with her original holdings, she was unquestionably the largest shareholder of Yan Corporation.

What’s more, she had already injected capital into the group, covering the losses caused by the broken capital chain, and all projects were back in operation.

Yan Corporation, which had been facing an economic crisis just yesterday, had been resurrected overnight—becoming a legend in the industry.

The news spread across the entire city in an instant.

When Yan Feiyu, worried and anxious, followed to the company and heard the news, he looked utterly incredulous and rushed to Yan Feihong to confirm it.

“Second Brother, is what they’re saying true? Did Yan Shi really pull out that much money all at once?” Yan Feiyu simply couldn’t believe it.

If that damned girl really had that much money, why had she been so obedient when they drove her away back then?

And if Yan Shi truly controlled Yan Corporation, didn’t that mean she held their financial lifeline in her hands? How could they possibly have a good life ahead of them?

“It must be the inheritance Big Brother left for Yan Shi. We underestimated Big Brother, and we underestimated Yan Shi too.” Yan Feihong took a deep drag of his cigarette, the cold sweat on his back still not dried.

He had been by Yan Shi’s side all day, and the way she acted with swift decisiveness and resolute judgment left him both astonished and unsettled.

“Watch yourself around Yan Shi from now on. She’s not the same as before. We can’t look at her with the same eyes we used to.”

Yan Feihong stubbed out his cigarette, unwilling to say more.

He had finally managed to stabilize Yan Shi—he didn’t want any more trouble.

Yan Feiyu watched his second brother’s retreating figure, then snapped back to his senses and immediately dialed Xu Rou’s number. “Xiao Rou, Mom, listen…”

At the same time, in the President’s Office.

Wang Cheng handed the itinerary he had just planned to Yan Shi.

“Miss, President Shen of the Shen Group has invited you to attend the company’s new product launch.”

Yan Shi paused, staring at the electronic invitation from Shen Group on the tablet, her expression complicated.

Was Shen Ci testing her?

Unfortunately, she had neither the time nor the inclination to play games with him right now.

“You go in my place.” She was rather curious to see what expression Shen Ci would have when he saw that she had sent an assistant instead.
