Seeing those words, and fearing that Bo Jianyan might feel hurt, Gu Huai quickly replied: [I miss you too.]

Only then did Bo Jianyan pull his eyes away from the screen, satisfied. However, the thought of having to stay in Hangzhou for a whole month before returning made him feel a bit miserable. A month without kisses or hugs—it was simply too long.

Gu Huai was incredibly busy on set. His very first scene was a head-to-head with Lin Yu, and the two were off to the side preparing.Full novel: After Entering a Marriage Agreement with My Benefactor, This Tsundere Beauty Sends Me Money Every Night — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Sometimes, one really couldn’t blame people for having such heavy filters when it came to Alphas. Lin Yu, whose physique already far surpassed others, looked even more exceptionally handsome and ethereal in his white robes. For a moment, Gu Huai was dazed by his appearance. The man looked cold and unapproachable, but he must have sensed Gu Huai’s gaze lingering on him.

Lin Yu’s lips curled into a warm smile that completely contradicted his icy look. He extended a hand. “Teacher Gu, I’ll be in your care.”

In his many years in the industry, Gu Huai had rarely crossed paths with popular actors. Sometimes he considered himself lucky just to land a supporting role in a hit script. His interactions with Lin Yu had been practically non-existent.

Seeing that Gu Huai hadn’t taken his hand, the Alpha’s eyes filled with a trace of disappointment. “Is Teacher Gu avoiding me because of those comments online?”

Gu Huai snapped out of it and offered a frank smile. “No, I was just thinking that Teacher Lin looks so handsome in this outfit that I got a bit distracted.”

A shallow smile remained on Lin Yu’s face. “Is that so? That’s great. I thought Teacher Gu disliked me because of those inappropriate remarks…”

Gu Huai patted his shoulder. “Let’s go, it’s time to film.”

Gu Huai didn’t overthink it. He had looked forward to acting with Lin Yu for a long time; a good actor could always help him immerse himself better in the role.

The first scene depicted the two characters at odds, drawing swords and trading harsh words. Gu Huai had been worried his emotions wouldn’t be intense enough. He wore the dark robes of the youth, a color that merged with the night. He roughly wiped blood from the corner of his mouth, a provocative smile playing on his lips. “And what if I insist on leaving today?”

Lin Yu twirled his sword and retracted it, pressing the hilt against Gu Huai’s throat. His eyes were dark and his tone unfriendly. “And what if I say no?”

Gu Huai let out an unexpected laugh and unhesitatingly knocked the sword aside. “You can’t stop me.” Without waiting for a reaction, he used a Qinggong technique to leap onto the roof and left without looking back.

Lin Yu’s gaze lingered on the sword that had been knocked down. He walked over to pick it up, watching the silhouette that had disappeared into the night. His eyes grew deep, like the silence before a storm.

“Cut, cut, cut!!!”

It was still summer, and filming under the sun in nearly 30°C weather meant that both of them were covered in sweat within moments. As soon as the director shouted “Cut,” the staff rushed forward with ice packs and fans. The long robes were incredibly stifling.

Gu Huai rolled up his sleeves and continued reading his script. While he was absorbed in it, Lin Yu inexplicably leaned in. “Teacher Gu, do you want some water? That scene just now was very well played.”

Gu Huai hesitated, but remembering that Ji Chen had told him to try and build a good relationship with Lin Yu, he accepted the water. “Thank you.”

For some strange reason, Lin Yu insisted on leaning in to look at the same script. Gu Huai subtly moved back a bit. “Teacher Lin, where is your script?”

Lin Yu wasn’t annoyed. He smiled and tugged at his clothes. “I left it over there when I grabbed the water. I’ll get it later. It’s too hot; if Teacher Gu doesn’t mind, could I share your script for a bit?”

Gu Huai felt the man was crossing a boundary, but since Lin Yu didn’t do anything else, he figured he was overthinking.

Lin Yu continued, “Teacher Gu, just call me by my name. We’ll be here for at least four months; there’s no need to be so distant. Can I call you Xiao Huai?”

Gu Huai: “…”

How strange. This Lin Yu is nothing like the rumors. Didn’t they say he was hard to approach? He doesn’t seem like it at all. Remembering Bo Jianyan’s warning not to get too close to other Alphas, Gu Huai found a middle ground. “Just call me Gu Huai.”

Lin Yu wasn’t angry at being rebuffed; he just smiled at Gu Huai. “Alright, Gu Huai.”

Gu Huai felt a bit uncomfortable hearing his name come out of the man’s mouth. He wasn’t sure if he was overthinking again, but he decided he’d mention this to Brother Bo tonight.

Sensing that Gu Huai wasn’t particularly fond of his behavior, Lin Yu stood up. “See you in a bit, then.”

Gu Huai couldn’t resist sending a message to Bo Jianyan: [Brother Bo, I feel like the Alpha I’m acting with is very strange.] [He suddenly came over and asked to share my script.]

Bo Jianyan saw the message and replied ruthlessly: [Tell him to get lost.] [Alphas are all bastards. Don’t get too close to him.]

Gu Huai laughed. Brother Bo, aren’t you an Alpha too?

A full day of filming was exhausting. After returning to his quarters, Gu Huai took a quick shower and collapsed onto the bed. He was so tired he barely had the energy to check his phone.

Before he could pull it out, there was a knock at the door. Gu Huai climbed up to open it, only to find Lin Yu standing there in casual clothes. “?”

He was carrying some things and had his script in hand. “There are a few points I haven’t quite figured out. Xiao Huai, do you have time to give me some pointers?”

Gu Huai suppressed the urge to curse. It is ten o’clock at night!! Why are you coming to ask about work now!? And why are you calling me Xiao Huai!? This Lin Yu was constantly testing his patience.

Since he was acting alongside a top-tier star, Gu Huai couldn’t easily find an excuse to send him away. He could only let Lin Yu into the room with a cold face. Gu Huai couldn’t resist saying, “Teacher Lin is still studying the script so late at night; I should learn from your dedication.”

Lin Yu laughed. “That’s good, then. I can exchange thoughts with Xiao Huai.”

Gu Huai felt this person’s level of shamelessness was unparalleled. How could he be so comfortable disturbing someone’s rest and act so righteous about it? I hate people who put on an act the most!

Gu Huai dealt with him expressionlessly. Sensing that Gu Huai didn’t really want to talk to him, Lin Yu shifted the topic. “Xiao Huai, how long have you been in the industry?”

Already irritable, Gu Huai answered shortly, “Five years.”

“Then, Xiao Huai, do you have any seniors you like?”

Gu Huai didn’t know what he was up to, especially with the way he emphasized the word “like.” He glanced at him. “Are you trying to fish for information, Teacher Lin?”

Lin Yu let out a low laugh. “Don’t be so nervous, Xiao Huai. I’m just purely curious if you’ve ever had a relationship in this circle.”

“?”
