“His Highness is so robust and energetic—he really takes it out of me. Several times I fainted on the bed, only to be tossed around and awakened by him again, sigh…”

Hua Heng’s face was filled with pleasurable recollection. Having claimed Xiao Mingyue’s man before her, she felt an unparalleled sense of satisfaction and thrill.

A violent surge of nausea hit Xiao Mingyue; her stomach churned so hard she couldn’t help dry-heaving on the spot.Full novel: After Entering the Palace as a Femme Fatale, the Prince Regent Went Mad with Regret — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Hua Heng gently patted her back, but behind her seemingly kind gesture, every stroke served as a reminder that all of this had truly happened.

Having waited for Feng Buji’s return, Xiao Mingyue hadn’t eaten a single bite all day, so naturally, nothing came up.

Once Xiao Mingyue regained her composure, Hua Heng looked at her soaked clothes with feigned surprise:

“Oh my, I was so caught up in talking about His Highness and me that I almost forgot you’re still in wet clothes, Little Sister! Baoyu, open the trunk and fetch the clothes, quick!” Hua Heng feigned concern, yet a smile lingered on her face as if she were anticipating something.

Forcing back her tears, Xiao Mingyue wanted nothing more than to leave, but when she raised her eyes, she was greeted by the sight of a luxurious and exquisite red wedding gown.

As if realizing her mistake only then, Hua Heng reprimanded, “Foolish girl, why did you fetch the wedding gown His Highness tailored with his own hands? Put it away at once!”

The maid named Baoyu showed no fear upon hearing the scolding. Instead, she sneered with malicious delight just like her mistress.

“Yes, this servant acknowledges her mistake.”

Xiao Mingyue had no desire to stay and watch her act. She wanted to rush out right now and confront Feng Buji, demanding to know if all of this was true.

Did he really make this wedding gown for Hua Heng with his own hands? He never even made one for me… So over these past dozen years, has he truly fallen in love with someone else?

If all of this is true, then where do I stand?

Xiao Mingyue slammed the trunk lid shut. Gripping the garment with a look of utter despair, she turned to leave, only for Hua Heng to grab her by the wrist.

“Where are you going, Little Sister? You haven’t changed your clothes yet.”

Xiao Mingyue tried to break free, but the seemingly frail woman before her possessed astonishing strength.

Unable to endure it any longer, Xiao Mingyue yanked her hand away forcefully and snapped: “Get away!”

“Ah!”

Hua Heng suddenly uttered a shrill cry, her body falling backward violently.

Accompanied by the shatter of a teacup on the floor, Hua Heng crashed onto the ground.

Before Feng Buji could storm in, Baoyu suddenly lunged forward and forcefully tore open the front of Hua Heng’s dress—framing it as Xiao Mingyue’s doing—and began to wail tearfully in accusation:

“Miss Mingyue, how could you be so heartless! You clearly knew our lady is pregnant, yet you still hit her and shoved her to the ground! Sobbing…“

Xiao Mingyue looked at the scene in disbelief, the wedding gown still gripped tightly in her hands.

“I didn’t do it… I didn’t push her, nor did I hit her…” Xiao Mingyue muttered under her breath, her mind paralyzed by the shock. The blood pool on the floor grew larger, far more crimson than the wedding gown in her hands.

“You still deny it? Aren’t you just harboring a grudge because His Highness brought our lady back to the residence? We can just leave, so why did you have to strike such a fatal blow against her!”

Baoyu acted out an expression of anger and helplessness, venting her rage through shrieks. Her performance was so convincing that even Xiao Mingyue began to feel as though she had indeed done it—yet she truly hadn’t.

Feng Buji cast a glance at Xiao Mingyue, his eyes burning with a towering rage that no one could possibly appease.

He forcefully snatched the wedding gown from Xiao Mingyue’s hands, causing her to stagger and lose her balance.

“You don’t deserve to hold this dress.”

When Xiaochun heard the commotion and rushed in, this was the sight that greeted her. Unaware of what had transpired, she only knew that Xiao Mingyue was at a disadvantage, so she immediately spoke up to defend and plead for her. She had no idea that her actions only further cemented the accusation that Xiao Mingyue had deliberately harmed Hua Heng.

Hua Heng’s face was as pale as paper. Like a broken kite with fading breath, she whispered weakly, “Your Highness… it’s alright. Please don’t blame Miss Xiao, I believe she didn’t mean to do it…”

“It’s just such a pity… our first child is gone just like that…”

With that, she closed her eyes in utter despair as tears streamed continuously down her face. Her heartbroken appearance made Feng Buji feel even more consumed by tender pity and anguish.

Feng Buji was frantic with grief: “You’re pregnant? Why didn’t you tell me?”

Unfortunately, Hua Heng had already fainted and could no longer answer his question.

Panicked, he scooped her up into his arms. Feeling her weightless body, his heart tightened further. As he passed by Xiao Mingyue, he cast a look filled with hatred at her.

Xiao Mingyue collapsed heavily onto the floor. Xiaochun, equally at a loss, asked anxiously, “Miss, what should we do?”

Xiao Mingyue forgot how to cry, feeling as though she were no different from a dead person.

Hua Heng was terrifyingly calculating. What Xiao Mingyue couldn’t fathom was that to secure her status, Hua Heng had actually risked both herself and her unborn child in this gamble. Such ruthless cruelty was far beyond Xiao Mingyue’s reach—leaving her utterly powerless to defend herself, forced to watch the man she loved most grow to hate her.

Seeing Feng Buji carry Hua Heng away, Baoyu wiped the meager tears from her face and flashed a triumphant sneer.

“Miss Xiao, you’d better prepare for the worst.”

Triumph, provocation, arrogant disdain…

Unable to swallow her anger, Xiaochun rushed forward to slap her, only for Baoyu to grab her wrist with ease.

Slap! A loud smack echoed as Xiaochun received a brutal slap to her face. Her head jerked sideways, and blood seeped from the corner of her mouth.

“Trying to hit me? You’re far too green for that.” Baoyu took out a handkerchief, wiped the hand she used to strike Xiaochun, and said with immense disgust, “You and your mistress can just wait for His Highness’s vengeance. After all, it was His Highness’s first child—he’s bound to be a bit more furious.”

With that, she walked away arrogantly.

Xiao Mingyue reached out her hand, yet she didn’t dare touch Xiaochun’s swollen, red cheek for fear of hurting her. She could only say with deep heartache:

“I’m so sorry, Xiaochun. Are you alright?”

Xiaochun shook her head, looking at Xiao Mingyue helplessly. “I’m fine… But Miss, what are we going to do?”

The child lost was Feng Buji’s firstborn. Any human with blood in their veins would find it hard not to vent their wrath on Xiao Mingyue.

Xiao Mingyue had no idea either. Even though she hadn’t pushed the woman, she had no evidence to prove it. With so much blood spilled, the child was undoubtedly lost. If only Feng Buji believed her, it would be fine—yet that look he gave her before leaving…

Xiao Mingyue let out a helpless sigh. Looking at the wedding gown on the floor blending into the pool of blood, her eyes stung with unbearable pain.

How did things end up like this? Feng Buji, will you ever believe me?
