Shen Xiying put down her phone and looked up.

She didn’t bother looking at the notification that had just popped up on her screen.

Shang Ruzhou walked in and saw Shen Xiying sitting on the sofa, her head tilted slightly upward to look at him.Full novel: After Flash Marrying My Crush, I’m Kissed to Tears Every Night — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Because of her movement, the loose strands of hair by her ears fell through the air, revealing a stretch of snow-white neck beneath.

Her eyes were always so bright, and the expression between her brows was lively and radiant.

In the one or two seconds when he happened to glance at her, he would occasionally be scorched by her gaze.

Shang Ruzhou looked for a few seconds, then averted his eyes, his tone flat: “Why didn’t you go upstairs today?”

“Of course, I was waiting for you to come back.”

As Shen Xiying spoke, a faint smile rippled at the corners of her lips.

“Sit and wait a moment. I’ll go grab something.”

With that, she ran off to the kitchen and took out the lemon cheesecake from the fridge.

She checked it over, making sure it still looked presentable, before placing the cake on the glass table in the living room.

“Try it. This shop’s cake is really fresh!”

Shang Ruzhou sat down on the sofa nearby, and Shen Xiying opened the packaging box, then pushed the cake in front of him.

It was a small four-inch cake, quite pretty in appearance. Thin slices of pale green lime sat on top, accented with red cream in the middle, giving off a faint, refreshing fragrance.

Shang Ruzhou paused for a second before saying, “I don’t eat sweets at night.”

Then he added, “Thank you.”

His voice was calm, as plain as water, devoid of any emotion.

Hearing his words, Shen Xiying blinked, unwilling to give up just yet. “Not even a tiny bite?”

Her voice was soft, a little thin.

As she spoke, she sat down right next to Shang Ruzhou, quickly cut off a small piece with a knife, and placed it on a small white paper plate.

She carefully held it out in front of Shang Ruzhou.

“Just try a little.” Shen Xiying looked at him, her eyes round and bright like glass beads. “I went out of my way to buy it, you know.”

Shang Ruzhou turned his head to look at her. She was sitting beside him.

Holding up the small piece of cake with both hands, her gaze rested on him—soft and expectant.

In the end, Shang Ruzhou took it and tried a bite.

Seeing him eat it, Shen Xiying smiled and pressed her lips together, unable to resist leaning a little closer to him.

Her hand braced against the sofa, seemingly brushing against something, but she didn’t pay it any mind.

“Is it good? Is it good?”

She looked at him and asked.

Shang Ruzhou took a bite, then unhurriedly set down the spoon.

He didn’t rush to answer her question. Instead, he lowered his gaze.

Shen Xiying followed his line of sight and saw just how close the distance between them was.

Their legs were almost touching.

Her heart pounded wildly. Flustered, she quickly shifted a little to the side.

Then she raised a hand to touch her nose, saying with a hint of guilt, “I didn’t do that on purpose.”

“Mm.” Shang Ruzhou hummed in response, his gaze landing on her face.

Her face was bright red, and her eyes darted around the living room.

She smoothed her stray hairs with both hands, then tugged at her collar. Quite busy, wasn’t she.

Shang Ruzhou let out a soft laugh and said in a calm voice, “Shen Xiying, do you know you just touched my leg with your hand?”

Shen Xiying: “??!”

Shen Xiying: “No way?!”

Her entire brain felt like it had been struck by lightning.

Her hand had touched Shang Ruzhou’s leg??

She stared at her own hand, silently cursing it over and over.

No way, no way. Even if she really wanted to touch him, she’d do it secretly at night.

Why was this hand so disobedient?!

Damn hand!! Who told you to go touching around?!

She had completely lost all face.

While she was still spiraling, she heard Shang Ruzhou’s voice from beside her: “The cake is quite sweet. I’ll head upstairs now.”

Hearing his words, Shen Xiying looked up and nodded somewhat mechanically. “Okay.”

Then she heard the sound of footsteps on the stairs.

Only after the sound of him going upstairs had completely faded did she, looking utterly defeated, grab the blanket from the sofa and cover her face with it.

It took a while before she calmed down and set the blanket aside.

It was just a touch on the leg.

They were husband and wife now, after all.

Even if she’d touched somewhere else, it would still be completely normal.

With that thought, she felt much better.

She cut herself a piece of cake with the knife, scooped a bit with the spoon, and put it in her mouth. Her whole face scrunched up.

So sour.

How come Shang Ruzhou said it was sweet?

Maybe she was eating the wrong part.

Then she cut herself another piece and tried it.

Bleh.

So sour.

Not sweet at all.

Shang Ruzhou’s taste buds must be broken if he thought that was sweet.

She was never buying cake from this shop again.

That evening, after Shen Xiying finished showering, she curled up in bed.

She scrolled through her phone.

A message came in from Meng Zhiqing.

She tapped on it.

【Meng Zhiqing: Yingying, did you see today’s trending searches?】

【Shen Xiying: ?】

【Shen Xiying: What trending search?】

【Meng Zhiqing: Nothing.】

【Meng Zhiqing: Good night, babe.】

Shen Xiying: “?”

She found it baffling. She glanced at the trending searches, but they were all completely unrelated to her.

【Shen Xiying: Did something happen today?】

【Shen Xiying: Pretty please, Qingqing, just tell me /begging /begging /kiss】

After a moment, Meng Zhiqing replied.

【Meng Zhiqing: Ugh, I really can’t with this.】

【Meng Zhiqing: Don’t cry when you see this.】

【Meng Zhiqing: [Web link]】

Shen Xiying clicked the link.

#Xu Family’s Adopted Daughter Xu Nianyu Returning to the Country Soon! No-Prize Guessing Game: Will the Shang Corporation CEO Get a Divorce?!#

There were many comments below.

Shen Xiying scrolled down quickly.

【Just Want to Eat: Definitely divorcing! I don’t need to explain how powerful a first love’s impact is! No man can resist his first love!】

【I Like Slacking Off: Not too sure. The marriage alliance between the Shang and Shen families was pretty unexpected back then. But wasn’t the reason Shang Ruzhou went abroad back then because of Xu Nianyu? So I feel like divorce is more likely.】

【Nothing Special: Definitely not divorcing. It’s not that—have you guys seriously never seen what Shen Xiying looks like? She’s so gorgeous. I’ve never seen anyone that beautiful in my whole life.】

【…】

Shen Xiying read for five minutes.

Feeling a bit of anger rising, she pressed the screen off.

After cooling down for two minutes, she opened her phone and tapped on her chat with Meng Zhiqing.

【Shen Xiying: I’m not angry at all.】

【Shen Xiying: Shang Ruzhou went abroad because of Xu Nianyu.】

【Shen Xiying: Also, he won’t divorce me.】

【Shen Xiying: [Pouting angrily.jpg]】

After a moment, Meng Zhiqing replied.

【Meng Zhiqing: Mm-hmm, right. I knew all along that Shang Ruzhou didn’t go abroad because of Xu Nianyu.】

【Meng Zhiqing: Our Queen Yingying is loved by everyone. Even if a divorce were really on the table, it’d have to be Queen Yingying who initiates it.】

【Meng Zhiqing: [Cuddling.jpg]】

Shen Xiying looked at the messages, wanting to type something, but suddenly felt a sense of helplessness.

She typed a few lines on the keyboard, then deleted them one by one.

After a long while, she pressed the screen off and placed the phone on the nightstand.

Then she pulled up the blanket and buried herself entirely underneath it.
