When Su Chengning came out of the study, he saw Tang Mo standing at the corner of the hallway.
Tang Mo was leaning against the wall, his head slightly tilted back, seemingly lost in thought about something.
Hearing a sound, Tang Mo immediately snapped back to reality. Seeing Su Chengning staring at him and sizing him up, a playful glint appeared in those beautiful peach-blossom eyes.
“Waiting for me?” Su Chengning’s tone carried certainty as he met Tang Mo’s shifting, wandering gaze with a smile.
He noticed Tang Mo give an almost imperceptible nod and let out a soft chuckle.
“I’ve finished talking business with your father. I’m ready to head back now.”
Su Chengning walked slowly down the stairs, with Tang Mo following close behind him, step for step.
“Aren’t you going to eat breakfast before you leave?”
His mother had just dragged him into the kitchen to make some delicious breakfast items, and Tang Mo really wanted Su Chengning to taste them.
Su Chengning replied, “I just spoke with your father about some things that made him unhappy. I’m afraid he won’t want to see my face at the dining table.”
Without a second thought, Tang Mo said, “Then just let him eat in the study.”
Su Chengning was completely blindsided by his response; he froze for a moment before breaking into a low, light laugh.
“I’m afraid if your father finds out it was your idea, he’ll take a broom and sweep you right out of the house.”
“What a devoted son you are.”
As the laughter escaped his lips, Su Chengning looked at him with a sort of indulgence, his eyes brimming with amusement.
Just as Tang Mo was about to respond, he looked up to see the study door wide open. His father was standing at the doorway, shooting a sharp, piercing glare like an invisible flying blade straight at him.
Tang Guoming was so angry he looked like a puffed-up pufferfish. He waved his hand indignantly at his “filial” son.
“Go, go, go! Get back to your school immediately. I don’t want to see you for a while.”
Lin Wenlan heard the commotion and walked over. “What’s wrong? Why are you suddenly chasing Xiao Mo back to school?”
She had wanted to have a good talk with her son.
“The food at home hasn’t been great lately. I’m letting him go back to eat at school so he doesn’t starve,” Tang Guoming said, guiltily avoiding his wife’s displeased gaze.
Hearing this, Lin Wenlan grew angry. “Fine then! So you’re saying my cooking is bad?”
“If it’s not good, then don’t eat it!” She threw the words out huffily and went straight into the kitchen to take all the prepared breakfast outside to feed the dog.
Outside the villa, the big dog was eating with gusto, its mouth covered in food.
Today’s meal was fantastic!
Tang Guoming stood there dumbfounded, completely at a loss.
Oh, look at what my big mouth has done.
Su Chengning and Tang Mo walked out of the villa one after the other. Both were stifling laughter, creating a scene that couldn’t help but make others envious.
Su Chengning walked in front with a leisurely pace. Passing the garden, he noticed the camellias blooming brilliantly and leaned in to catch their scent.
The bright red flowers contrasted with his fair, handsome features; he truly looked more delicate than the blossoms themselves.
As the weather gradually warmed, the entire garden was beautiful enough to leave him enchanted.
Tang Mo stood behind him, gazing at him with an almost obsessed intensity.
Su Chengning felt Tang Mo’s burning gaze fixed on him, causing a strange, dry heat to rise from within his heart. It was a wonderful feeling. He instinctively turned around and caught the look in Tang Mo’s eyes a look of infatuation, surrender, and deep love.
Su Chengning didn’t know exactly when Tang Mo had started liking him, but at this moment, his mood was blissful.
The sun rose behind Tang Mo, casting a warm glow over both of them. It was warm and peaceful, making one’s heart grow softer and more tender along with the light.
Standing in front of Tang Mo, Su Chengning tilted his head up slightly. His beautiful eyes and brows were gilded with a layer of pale gold light, making him look stunning and captivating.
Su Chengning issued a sincere invitation to the somewhat bashful young man: “Can you see me home?”
Tang Mo’s eyes instantly lit up. An imaginary large tail seemed to wag behind him, just like the big dog enjoying the delicious breakfast, filled with joy.
However, once Tang Mo got into the car and met Assistant Qiu’s curious, assessing gaze, he realized that “seeing Su Chengning home” was completely different from what he had imagined.
He thought it would just be the two of them.
Instead, there was a “third wheel.”
Assistant Qiu had no idea he had been labeled a third wheel and greeted him politely, only to receive a cold stare from Tang Mo.
“Does Assistant Qiu not have to work today?” Tang Mo asked somewhat sourly.
“Today is Sunday.”
Fine, he had forgotten it was Sunday. Perhaps too many good things had happened over the last two days, giving Tang Mo the illusion that he didn’t know what year it was.
Assistant Qiu said, “My job is to serve President Su, even on Sundays.”
Tang Mo turned to Su Chengning and said, “Chengning-ge, you should give Assistant Qiu a proper vacation. Otherwise, I’m afraid Assistant Qiu will be single for the rest of his life.”
These words left both Su Chengning and Assistant Qiu looking at him in confusion.
“With his schedule, how could he have time to date?” Tang Mo pointed at Assistant Qiu with a look of genuine concern.
Assistant Qiu smiled. “Thank you for your concern, Second Young Master.”
Su Chengning explained somewhat helplessly, “Assistant Qiu is married.”
Now it was Tang Mo’s turn to be surprised. “Tied down by marriage so early? How pitiful.”
Assistant Qiu: “…” How exactly is this pitiful?
Su Chengning asked him, “Do you think it’s bad to get married early?”
Tang Mo shook his head. “I feel sorry for his wife.”
And how is she pitiful?
“Chengning-ge, you are so good-looking. Assistant Qiu faces you all day; when he goes home and sees his wife, won’t he just think she’s too ordinary? Then his wife won’t even have the heart to dress up, because no matter how she dresses, she probably can’t compare to her husband’s boss.”
Assistant Qiu: “…” I really want to thank you for that.
Tang Mo’s crooked logic successfully made Su Chengning laugh for a long time. If he hadn’t seen Assistant Qiu’s face turning a bit sour, he probably would have laughed the whole way.
Halfway there, Tang Mo got out to buy some breakfast, even thoughtfully preparing a portion for Assistant Qiu.
He called it: “Assistant Qiu, after eating my breakfast made with love, you’ll feel that life has more to look forward to.”
Assistant Qiu: Look forward to my foot.
Assistant Qiu gritted his teeth, forced a professional smile, accepted the breakfast, and thanked him loudly.
Tang Mo immediately beamed and sought credit from Su Chengning: “See, Chengning-ge? Assistant Qiu has instantly recovered his energy and is full of spirit.”
Su Chengning looked at him with an indulgent gaze and nodded in cooperation.
“I’ve decided to give you the day off today. Take your wife out for some quality time together.”
Assistant Qiu forced another smile: I really, really want to thank you both.
Even after Assistant Qiu dropped them off and left, that stiff, professional smile remained on his face.
After getting out of the car, Su Chengning pulled back the guy who still wanted to tease the assistant, lest his assistant be driven to quit and work elsewhere.
Tang Mo was still acting innocent. “Assistant Qiu seemed a bit unhappy. Chengning-ge, could it be that the breakfast I bought didn’t suit his taste?”
Su Chengning met his innocent gaze; he wanted to laugh but held it in.
“Do you always joke around like this with others?”
“No way,” Tang Mo explained quickly. “I only did it because I treat him as one of our own.”
Su Chengning gave him a sidelong glance. “Who is ‘our own’ with you?”
His tone carried a hint of arrogance that even he hadn’t noticed.
Tang Mo grabbed the person who was trying to walk away, and with a slight tug, pulled Su Chengning back.
He said with a smile, “Of course, I mean you and me.”
The corners of his mouth curled up, and a smile leaked out, almost impossible to suppress.
Su Chengning let out a small huff, seemingly finding the smile on Tang Mo’s face too dazzling.
He said intentionally, “Did I agree to be ‘one of your own’?”
“We could also be ‘one family.'”
You and I are one family.
“In your dreams.”
Su Chengning pulled his hand back and turned to walk away. Tang Mo chased after him, grinning so wide his teeth showed.
Just as the two of them walked into the elevator lobby, a figure rushed out and slammed into Su Chengning, who was walking in front.
The massive impact sent Su Chengning tumbling backward, but Tang Mo was quick enough to catch him and hold him tight.
“Brother, are you okay?”
Tang Mo saw him frowning, clearly in pain from the collision. Anger instantly surged from the bottom of his heart.
“How do you walk? Are your eyes just for decoration? If you don’t need them, donate them to someone who does!”
He glared at the person picking themselves up off the floor. If he weren’t holding Su Chengning, he likely would have rushed forward to grab the person and give them a beating.
Feeling his intense rage, Su Chengning pressed his hand down to soothe Tang Mo. “I’m fine.”
The moment of impact had indeed been painful. He waited for the pain to subside slightly before standing up with Tang Mo’s support.
The person who hit him seemed terrified. After struggling to get up, they hung their head and apologized repeatedly.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
“I was just in a hurry and didn’t watch where I was going. I didn’t mean to hit you.”
“Hurrying to be reincarnated, are we?” Tang Mo sneered sarcastically. “I hear the Underworld only has spots left in the Animal Realm recently. Want me to make a reservation for you?”
These words were exceptionally harsh.
“How can you talk like that? I already apologized!” The person seemed provoked by the sarcasm and looked up angrily to glare at the two of them.
Once they were face-to-face, all three of them froze.
The person who had bumped into him was none other than the “protagonist shou” Su Chengning detested: Jiang Baiyu.
Su Chengning had originally wanted to scold Tang Mo for being so sarcastic, but as soon as he saw it was Jiang Baiyu, his expression turned ugly.
“Jiang Baiyu, what are you doing here?” Tang Mo asked in an unfriendly tone.
“I—can’t I live here?” Jiang Baiyu replied, pursing his lips, his eyes showing a faint trace of guilt.
He didn’t know why he felt guilty, but as soon as he met Su Chengning’s mocking gaze, he felt intimidated.
“This is a high-end residence. With your family background, you can’t afford to live here.”
This residential area was worth its weight in gold; almost every unit cost over ten million. High prices naturally meant high security. Ordinary people couldn’t just enter freely.
Given Jiang Baiyu’s appearance, he had clearly just come from inside.
Su Chengning answered for him with a cold laugh: “Tang Chen let you live here.”
Excellent. He’s already started keeping him on the side.
Jiang Baiyu’s face turned pale for a moment, but not because of Su Chengning’s words.
He was currently looking at Su Chengning’s perfectly intact legs in total shock.
According to the plot, Su Chengning should currently be in the hospital with broken legs. Why was he standing perfectly fine in front of him?
Meanwhile, the news he had just received was that Tang Chen had been in a car accident and was hospitalized?
Jiang Baiyu was in a state of total confusion.
What is happening to the plot?
Tang Mo realized something. “No wonder you kept asking me about my older brother a while ago. So—”
Su Chengning suddenly glanced sideways at Tang Mo. “Are you well-acquainted with him?”
“Not at all. Not at all.”
“He’s the famous ‘social butterfly’ of our college. Basically, anyone with a good family background has been hit on by him.”
Su Chengning narrowed his eyes, a strange light shimmering in his peach-blossom eyes.
His tone was airy as he asked, “Anyone with a good family background? Hit on by him?”
“Does that include you?”
Tang Mo: “…”
Crap! I think I said something I shouldn’t have.
