Normally, in a dungeon instance, important NPCs rarely had deep interactions with players. Unless one was an incredibly powerful veteran, it was nearly impossible to gain any real favor from them.
Just like in this particular dungeon, across every strategy guide, every player who had cleared it, not a single one had survived the “Hide and Seek” mission by being protected by Shen Yushu.
The reason was simple. Shen Yushu never spent the night with players. He was a clean freak, cold, and impossibly arrogant.
So during this limited twenty four hour survival task, there were countless ways for ghosts to kill off participants. Yet Jian Yue had somehow been the first player ever to run up to Shen Yushu and actually beg for protection.
And the most shocking part,
In front of thousands of live viewers, Shen Yushu calmly set down his pen and said indifferently, “Butler Wang, there’s no rule saying you can’t look after me here. Next time, don’t raise your voice so loud. I’m not deaf.”
He agreed.

Shen Yushu gave him a strange look. He had long suspected that this butler might have some sort of infatuation with him, but he hadn’t expected his “little schemes” to be this… persistent. Just wanting to stay close, was he?
Normally, Shen Yushu disliked anyone working near him but when he looked up and saw the intense pleading in Jian Yue’s eyes, he froze slightly. Oh no! The butler really was this clingy.
Still, remembering that Jian Yue’s massage earlier had been surprisingly decent, Shen Yushu decided not to bother arguing. He nodded slightly, “Fine but if you disturb me, you’ll have to leave.”
Jian Yue immediately said, “Young Master, don’t worry! I promise I won’t disturb you!”
How could he dare to?
There was a monster outside, and he definitely hadn’t lived enough to test his luck!
Jian Yue’s heart was in chaos, a mess of fear and relief. Shen Yushu’s approval felt like a divine reprieve, his icy, untouchable boss hadn’t thrown him out.
The audience erupted again:

For the first time, Jian Yue didn’t see just a cold, scripted NPC, he saw a real person.
A hardworking, capable man. Fair and principled with his subordinates, kind yet firm with his family.
If this were the real world, Jian Yue thought, he would have admired him deeply. No, truthfully, with his own ordinary background, he might never have had the chance to meet someone like Shen Yushu at all.
That comforting thought was the last in his mind before he drifted off to sleep.

He realized, horrified, that he had fallen asleep right there at the table.

“Oh my god, my heart almost stopped!”
“He’s gonna scare me to death before the ghost does!”
“RUN! Run, idiot, RUN!”
Jian Yue wanted to run. He really did but his limbs were weak from sleep and fear. When terror peaks, the body refuses to move and the ghost was so close he could smell her decay.
He leaned back, trying desperately to put distance between them. But the farther he pulled away, the closer she crept. Her lips moved, whispering hoarsely, “Where are you… Where are you… I can’t find you…”
The air reeked of blood, thick with malice.
The papers on the desk were soaked red. Her sharp, claw-like nails gleamed inches from his forehead.
In his ears, the system blared frantically

【Current HP: 9%】
That deadly hand hovered over his head, ready to strike. He was frozen in place by pure killing intent. In this “Hide and Seek” dungeon, once caught, there was no escape.

The life bar flashed bright red.

The ghost almost looked… dumbfounded. But Jian Yue’s conviction was so firm, even she hesitated.
Sensing his chance, Jian Yue straightened up, walked over to Shen Yushu’s desk, grabbed a pen and some paper, and said briskly, “Name, age, when did you get separated?”
The ghost’s voice was hoarse and icy, as if unused for centuries. “I… don’t… remember…”
Jian Yue frowned, handing her the pen like a scolding teacher, “That won’t do. How can you find anyone like this? Think! Does he have a family? Any photos? No? Then describe him, or at least draw what he looks like.”
The ghost hesitated, then took the pen in her bone-white hand. But whatever she drew was soaked in blood, the lines a tangled mess.
In the end, all she managed was a vague, round blotch that didn’t resemble anything.

Startled, the ghost nearly dropped the pen, shrinking back like a scolded schoolgirl caught by her teacher.
The chat exploded again.
