Seeing the confused look on Ni Yang’s face, the calculation in Wen Shuhua’s eyes deepened further.

She shifted closer beside Ni Yang and looked at her sympathetically.

“That girl’s name is Su Xiaoyu. She was someone Siyu met during his first business trip to London after taking over Yi An. When he returned to the country, he brought her back with him and arranged for her schooling. A year ago, Siyu even used his authority to place her into the London branch office.”Full novel: After Her Ex-Boyfriend Ridiculed Her, She Married a Powerful Tycoon — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“She’s living in London permanently now. This time, there actually wasn’t much happening at the branch office, yet he still went there… sigh, I really shouldn’t say this. You two are newlyweds after all, and naturally close. I’ve overstepped.”

Her words trailed off suggestively while sympathy overflowed across her face.

Ni Yang quietly watched Wen Shuhua’s performance and cooperatively revealed an expression of surprise and hurt.

She did not fully believe her words, but the girl she mentioned probably did exist.

Although she and He Siyu had married without love, trust and the chance for him to explain himself should still be given.

Blindly listening to how others described him was prejudice, and even more disrespectful.

Ni Yang set down her teacup.

“Thank you for informing me, Aunt Wen. I’ll call Siyu and ask him about the truth.”

Wen Shuhua’s expression instantly stiffened. Her fake eyelashes trembled slightly.

“Yangyang, men never tell the truth. Even if you ask him, he’ll only insist they’re innocent. You’re still young and don’t understand men’s bad nature. Listen to Auntie—investigate secretly first. Gather the evidence before confronting Siyu.”

“With how much your uncle and aunt dote on you, they’ll definitely protect you. Once you have evidence in hand, it won’t matter even if Siyu refuses to divorce.”

Ni Yang lazily rested her arm against the sofa armrest and stared directly at the woman speaking without blinking.

Wen Shuhua completely looked as though she was acting in Ni Yang’s best interest, yet every word she spoke carried the hope that they would divorce and that news of He Siyu keeping a lover overseas would become public.

Given Mr. Ni and Madam Ling’s personalities, they definitely would not let He Siyu off easily.

At that point, his reputation would be ruined, and his position as President of Yi An would absolutely become unstable.

The only people who would benefit were He Chuanhan’s family.

She had only just married He Siyu, yet Wen Shuhua was already unable to stay patient.

Was it for control over the household, or to pave the way for He Huaichi, Second Young Master He?

Unfortunately, she had failed to realize that Ni Yang and He Siyu had no romantic feelings to begin with. Even their marriage alliance had been negotiated by Ni Yang herself as a business arrangement.

Without feelings, there naturally would not be expectations or betrayal.

Ni Yang had no interest in continuing to circle around with Wen Shuhua. She only wanted to quietly live her peaceful life.

Leaning forward, she picked up her phone from the coffee table.

Wen Shuhua immediately asked anxiously,

“Yangyang, what are you doing?”

Ni Yang pulled up He Siyu’s phone number and directly called him, decisively turning on speaker mode.

Innocently, she waved the phone screen toward Wen Shuhua.

“I’m calling Siyu to ask him about the situation. If it’s just a misunderstanding, then Aunt Wen won’t have to worry about me anymore.”

Wen Shuhua’s face suddenly turned pale.

Staring at He Siyu’s name on the screen while the ringing tone echoed from the speaker, her breathing became uneven. Her heart nearly leapt into her throat as the fingers resting on her lap curled slightly and trembled.

She glared at Ni Yang.

Back at the engagement banquet, seeing how Ni Yang had treated Qi Huaiyu, Wen Shuhua assumed she was the type of woman who could not tolerate even a grain of sand in her eyes.

What girl could possibly tolerate her husband keeping another woman outside?

Wouldn’t she secretly collect evidence so she could secure more assets after a divorce?

A girl like Ni Yang, who had grown up so loved and spoiled, should never willingly endure this kind of grievance.

But Ni Yang completely refused to follow normal logic.

Calling He Siyu directly would expose everything, making the fake evidence Wen Shuhua had prepared useless.

No… not necessarily.

With He Siyu’s personality, domineering and intolerant of suspicion, perhaps he would not explain himself at all. He might even criticize Ni Yang for distrusting him and meddling unnecessarily.

She comforted herself internally.

He Siyu would not explain himself.

Throughout the entire process, Ni Yang quietly observed Wen Shuhua’s reactions. Seeing her terrible complexion and rigid posture, she immediately knew that ninety-nine percent of what she said was fabricated.

The phone vibrated.

The call connected.

He Siyu’s voice sounded first.

“What’s wrong?”

That gentle tone instantly made Wen Shuhua’s nerves jump violently. Her hands trembled uncontrollably as she forced herself to maintain a smile while sitting upright.

Ni Yang curled her lips into a smile and innocently looked at Wen Shuhua as she spoke into the phone.

“Siyu, Aunt Wen came to visit me at our home. She told me that this business trip was actually for a girl named Su Xiaoyu. Is that true?”

He Siyu let out a cold laugh and asked in return,

“Do you believe it?”

Ni Yang leaned lazily against the sofa. Her lotus-pink nude manicure lightly scratched near her temple, making her entire demeanor look soft and charming.

“We’re husband and wife, so naturally I trust you. But Aunt Wen made it sound so convincing that I wanted to ask you directly and hear your explanation. Aunt Wen is right here too. I turned on speaker mode so she can listen as well. We can’t let her misunderstand you.”

Sitting in his office, He Siyu listened to Ni Yang’s soft, sly voice and immediately understood that she had not believed Wen Shuhua at all.

Still, he intended to explain himself.

Not for Wen Shuhua’s sake, but because Ni Yang was his wife. He could not allow someone else’s words to make her misunderstand or reject him.

“Ni Yang, after taking over Yi An, during my first business trip to London, I met Su Xiaoyu on the streets there. At the time, she was being chased by her stepfather and collapsed onto my car covered in injuries. She begged me to save her. Perhaps back then, I was kinder than I am now.”

“I had someone take her to the hospital and arranged a place for her to stay. When I returned home, I brought her back with me as well. She was twenty at the time, and I funded her education.”

“A year ago, she submitted her résumé to Yi An. She entered the company through her own ability, not because I abused my authority.”

“As for why I came to London this time, I believe Mrs. Wen will find out very soon.”

“Ni Yang, don’t listen to how others describe me. That is prejudice. Everything I told you at your house back then was the truth. I have no lover, no ex-girlfriend, and both my body and heart are clean.”

“Mrs. Wen, spreading rumors is illegal. Are you lacking a court summons?”

Every word He Siyu spoke spread clearly throughout the living room from the speaker.

Wen Shuhua’s face became unbearably ugly. She clenched her hands tightly, unable to maintain her smile any longer.

Hurriedly apologizing, she quickly bid farewell to Ni Yang and left.

Ni Yang even stood up and leisurely walked to the doorway, leaning against the frame with a bright smile as she admired Wen Shuhua fleeing in embarrassment.

The call had not ended yet.

Still smiling, she turned off speaker mode and pressed the phone against her ear.

“I believe you, He Siyu.”

Because she guessed that, back then, he had actually been saving the version of himself who used to be beaten.

“Ni Yang, if something like this happens again in the future, call me directly or ask me face-to-face, just like today. I’ll tell you everything truthfully.”

“In a marriage, suspicion and refusing to communicate are terrible poisons that should be discarded.”

It felt like their souls resonated with each other.

Ni Yang froze briefly, excitement flickering within her tea-colored eyes as though she had found someone who truly understood her.

Very few people shared the same view of marriage as she did.

Humans had mouths not only for eating, but also for speaking.

Rather than overthinking and making assumptions while getting along with others, honesty and openness were far better.

“He Siyu, when you come back, I’ll go to the airport to pick you up.”

“I’ll bring Cotton Candy with me too.”
