“Baby, there are plenty of men in the world. A guy like Gu Beichen is nothing special—I’ll introduce you to someone even handsomer.”

Jiang Yousheng: “Okay.”

Wait, wasn’t that reaction a little too calm?

Lin Yang looked her up and down, then jumped in a fright when she spotted blood on her clothes. “Are you hurt?”

Jiang Yousheng looked down and saw a few drops of blood on her white pant legs. “Just blisters from walking.”

“Dammit, Gu Beichen is a straight-up beast. He still won’t let you go? Don’t tell me he’s actually caught feelings after sleeping with you all this time! Is he unwilling to let you leave?”

Jiang Yousheng felt like Lin Yang was telling the world’s biggest joke. “And what about Su Mumu?”

If Gu Beichen ever developed feelings for her, it would be the day a stone learned how to bloom.

“What do you plan to do?”

Jiang Yousheng still had to go to work the next day. “I’ll stay at your place for a few days and take it one step at a time.”

Gu Beichen had said that as long as she stayed by his side for a full year, he would move her to the Project Department. If she achieved good results, he would return the Jiang family shares to her.

Su Mumu was riding high on her pride right now; Jiang Yousheng couldn’t just walk away and let it end like this.

Arriving at Lin Yang’s house, Jiang Yousheng collapsed onto the bed in exhaustion. Her phone started ringing in her pocket, but she silenced it immediately.

By the next day, her phone was nearly exploding with missed calls. It wasn’t until she saw a threatening text message that she finally called back.

“Jiang Yousheng! What kind of stunt are you pulling?” An extremely impatient voice came through the receiver. Jiang Yousheng could practically visualize Gu Beichen’s cold, displeased expression.

Jiang Yousheng gripped her phone tighter. “Gu Beichen, I’m tired. I don’t have the energy to argue with you. I’m not coming to the office today.”

“Important documents were left in the car. Bring them over!” He cut her off with a deep growl and hung up before she could say a word.

As his cold voice echoed in the quiet air, Jiang Yousheng tossed her phone aside and covered her face with her hands, a bitter smile tugging at her lips. She mocked herself inwardly. Documents left in the car? He was just frustrated and looking for a way to torment her.

She was his ex-wife, and on the surface, his secretary—but to put it bluntly, she was nothing more than a lover kept in the shadows.

“Secretary Jiang, these are the documents President Gu wanted.”

At the company entrance, she ran into Jiang Huai, who was waiting for her with the files. “They were left in the car; I just found them. Since you’re going up anyway, please hand them to President Gu for me.”

Jiang Yousheng sneered inwardly. She knew Gu Beichen had done this on purpose.

The elevator went straight to the top floor.

“Come in.” Through the door, Gu Beichen’s voice sounded distant and indifferent.

Jiang Yousheng pushed the door open only to see Su Mumu sitting beside him.

“Miss Jiang, we meet again.”

Jiang Yousheng placed the documents on the desk without even looking up.

“Did I say you could leave?” Gu Beichen’s slender brows furrowed slightly as he glared at her with displeasure.

Jiang Yousheng straightened her back, keeping her voice as flat as possible. “President Gu, do you have further instructions?”

“I am Beichen’s fiancée. Didn’t he tell you?” Su Mumu crossed her arms, preening like a peacock. “Now that I’m back, you should take the initiative to leave. It would be a shame for people to laugh at the great Miss Jiang for shamelessly clinging to her ex-husband.”

Gu Beichen remained silent, seemingly giving his tacit approval to the woman’s words.

Jiang Yousheng bit her lip. “President Gu, what do you say? Whether it’s a resignation or a department transfer, I’ll accept either.”

Su Mumu glanced at her sideways. “Beichen, she’s just a little secretary. You’ve played with her enough over the years. If she makes you unhappy, why not just fire her?”

“She isn’t worth the effort.” Gu Beichen stared at the figure standing not far away, contempt bleeding from the corners of his mouth.

“Beichen, don’t say that. If Miss Jiang gets upset, she might lose her temper,” Su Mumu added gloatingly.

“She wouldn’t dare.”

Jiang Yousheng didn’t even have the strength to argue. After all, the things she had said to humiliate Gu Beichen years ago were far harsher than this.

However, she couldn’t stand seeing Su Mumu so smug. “A trash can! He’s nothing but a man I didn’t want anymore.”

With that, she turned on her heel, pulled open the door, and walked out.

The door had already slammed shut before they could react. Su Mumu was fuming. “What kind of attitude is that? Does she still think she’s some wealthy socialite? Beichen, you have to fire her.”

Gu Beichen’s eyes were dark as ink. “There’s no need.”

The smile on Su Mumu’s lips froze as she looked at him. “Beichen, I’ll be with you from now on. You don’t need her anymore, do you?”

She simply couldn’t understand what was so good about a woman like Jiang Yousheng. Why was he still unwilling to let go?

“Mumu, you’re still weak. Go back and rest first,” Gu Beichen said softly, his expression turning gentle.
