Wen Wan’s gaze instantly locked onto the bracelet on the child’s wrist.

It was one of the dowry pieces her father had given her when she married into the Xu family.

The gold bracelet bore the Wen family crest.Full novel: After Looting the Harbor, I Married a Military Officer and Won It All — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

A chill spread through her chest.

The child sleeping peacefully before her was living in luxury, wearing her family’s property, while her own family had nearly been destroyed by Xu Mingzhe and Lin Xiaoman.

She stood motionless for several seconds.

Then she gently lifted the little boy’s wrist and examined the bracelet carefully.

There was no mistake.

It was hers.

The bracelet alone wasn’t particularly valuable to the Xu family, but the meaning behind it was unmistakable.

Xu Mingzhe had been using Wen family assets to support Lin Xiaoman and their illegitimate child.

A surge of cold fury rose inside her.

The farmhouse woman stood nearby in a daze.

“How long has the child been here?” Wen Wan asked quietly.

“Since he was born,” the woman replied blankly.

“Who pays for his expenses?”

“Miss Lin sends money every month. Sometimes a man named Xu comes too.”

“Xu Mingzhe?”

The woman nodded.

Wen Wan let out a silent laugh.

How ironic.

In her previous life, Xu Mingzhe had repeatedly blamed her for being unable to give him a child. His mother and sister had mocked and humiliated her for years.

Meanwhile, he already had a son hidden away outside.

And judging from the boy’s age, the affair had started long before their marriage.

Everything had been a lie from the very beginning.

Her eyes drifted around the room.

Imported milk powder.

Foreign biscuits.

Brand-new furniture.

The child lived better than most city families.

The money for all of this had undoubtedly come from the Wen family.

She slowly opened a nearby cabinet.

Inside were stacks of children’s clothes, toys, and several envelopes stuffed with cash.

Beneath them lay a small photo album.

Wen Wan pulled it out.

As she flipped through the pages, her expression grew colder.

Every photograph featured Xu Mingzhe, Lin Xiaoman, and the child together.

Some were taken at parks.

Others at restaurants.

In one photograph, Xu Mingzhe held the boy high in the air, smiling brightly.

It was a smile Wen Wan had never once received from him during their marriage.

She quietly removed several photographs and slipped them into her handbag.

These would become powerful evidence later.

After closing the album, she turned toward the entranced woman again.

“Has anyone else visited recently?”

The woman thought for a moment.

“Miss Lin came three days ago.”

“Did she leave anything?”

The woman pointed toward a locked drawer.

“The important things are in there.”

Wen Wan opened it.

Inside were bankbooks, remittance receipts, and letters exchanged between Lin Xiaoman and Xu Mingzhe.

The corners of her lips curved upward.

This trip had yielded far more than she expected.

With these documents, Xu Mingzhe would have a much harder time denying anything.

She carefully collected the most important papers and returned the rest.

Before leaving, she looked once more at the sleeping child.

The little boy stirred slightly in his sleep but did not wake.

For a brief moment, Wen Wan felt a trace of pity.

The child himself was innocent.

The real sinners were the adults who had used him as a tool.

She turned away and walked out of the room.

Outside, the afternoon sun cast long shadows across the courtyard.

Xu Hao was waiting by the gate.

The moment he saw her expression, he knew she had found something important.

“Well?” he asked.

Wen Wan held up the envelope containing the photographs and documents.

“More than enough.”

Xu Hao glanced at the papers and frowned.

“Evidence?”

“Evidence that Xu Mingzhe has been supporting Lin Xiaoman and their child with money taken from my family.”

A dangerous smile appeared on her face.

“Now the real show can begin.”

As they walked toward the car, Wen Wan looked back one final time at the elegant farmhouse hidden among the rural cottages.

In her previous life, she had lost everything before discovering the truth.

This time would be different.

This time, she would make sure every debt was paid in full.
