An auntie rushed out crying and screaming, grabbing onto a shelf with her arm while glaring angrily at them, as if they had committed some unforgivable crime.
Behind her was a girl around twenty years old, leaning weakly against another shelf, looking exhausted and listless.
They had originally thought the nearly sealed supermarket was full of zombies, but unexpectedly, two people were hiding in a corner.
There was a storage room in the corner. The two of them had survived there for a week, relying on the girl occasionally sneaking out to grab instant noodles from the shelves. Now that even the last bit of food was gone, they had no choice but to come out and stop them.
Seeing that the intruders were only two young people, the auntie immediately started throwing a tantrum.
“Where did you hide the food?! Anyway, you two can’t possibly finish it all! Give me the milk—my son needs to drink it!”
There was still someone else?
Liu Ge paused slightly, then curled her lips with mild interest.
All the food was in Xie Zhou’s space—she had no authority over it.
Xie Zhou stood there, pale-faced and wearing sunglasses. His bloodthirsty eyes were hidden behind the lenses, making him look like a frail, beautiful young man.
Neither of them moved. The auntie thought they were afraid and became even more brazen.
“Leave the meat too! My son needs to grow! You’re already grown up—you don’t need to eat meat!”
Xie Zhou turned around expressionlessly and walked away. He didn’t have time to waste here. Liu Ge followed as well.
Their indifferent attitude made the auntie even more furious, but before she could explode again, the girl at the shelf weakly stopped her.
“Sorry… Aunt Liu is just worried about her son. You… you have a very strong spatial ability, right? Could you please share some food? They’re really struggling to survive…”
The girl was clearly speaking only to Xie Zhou, her expression conflicted and pitiful.
Moral coercion didn’t work in the apocalypse anymore. Liu Ge shrugged.
“With so much instant noodles, is that not enough? Is her son a pig?”
“N-no…” the girl stammered. “I just think this handsome guy is very strong, and there’s a lot of food in the supermarket. In hard times, shouldn’t people help each other?”
She looked like she was about to question whether Liu Ge had any compassion at all.
Liu Ge turned away speechlessly.
The girl then looked at Xie Zhou again.
“Sir, you look familiar… Are you Xie Zhou?”
With his burnt hair and eyebrows still not grown back and large sunglasses on, he was still recognized. That was true dedication.
“It really is Xie Zhou!” she suddenly screamed like a groundhog, a complete change from her earlier weak state.
“Ahhh! I’m your fan! My name is Luo Xiaoran! I love your songs so much! I skipped going home just to attend your concert—and then the apocalypse happened!”
A dramatic fan recognition scene… in a zombie-infested supermarket.
“What do you want to say, say it outside,” Xie Zhou said calmly.
Luo Xiaoran nodded excitedly and immediately stuck close to him, eyes sparkling.
The auntie was furious again.
“You want me and my son to starve to death?! If you don’t leave milk and meat, no one is allowed to leave! You young people are so heartless!”
The best response to such nonsense was to ignore it. Liu Ge didn’t even slow down.
“Brother Xie Zhou, isn’t it bad to just leave like this? They’re really pitiful…” Luo Xiaoran glanced at Liu Ge and said timidly.
Strangely, Xie Zhou actually stopped.
Liu Ge instantly felt like she was going to lose it.
“Everything already inside your space—you’re really going to take it out?” she asked.
And he actually did.
Not only did he take it out, but he even gave them the milk and meat exactly as the auntie demanded.
As expected—completely unpredictable.
After leaving the mall, the silent man’s eyes behind the lenses flickered slightly. The weather seemed to have gotten colder.
“Brother Xie Zhou, can you go save my friends at the gym?” Luo Xiaoran asked again. “They’re your fans too. They’ll be so happy to see you.”
Zombies didn’t dare approach Xie Zhou, so she boldly asked him to save people.
Her chatter continued nonstop. Liu Ge, however, frowned and kept staring back toward the supermarket.
“Afraid?” Xie Zhou’s voice carried a teasing tone.
“I’m not afraid! With Brother Xie Zhou here, I’m not afraid of anything!” Luo Xiaoran said eagerly.
Xie Zhou smiled faintly and walked toward the school.
Stupid.
Liu Ge tightened her backpack straps and followed at a jog.
Meanwhile, in the basement supermarket, zombies that had been quietly standing against the walls suddenly surged toward the corner, as if attracted by something. The remaining shelves were knocked over.
The fragile storage room door shattered. Zombies swarmed inside, tearing and biting aimlessly.
Aunt Liu was shoved toward the zombies by a strong man.
“Mom, I don’t want to die! Save me!”
But human strength meant nothing in front of zombies. In an instant, her body was torn apart by five or six of them.
Screams echoed everywhere. Soon, the zombies completely took over the storage room.
Liu Ge couldn’t predict what Xie Zhou would do next. After changing into clean clothes, he didn’t go find Bai Sui immediately. Instead, he followed Luo Xiaoran’s suggestion and launched a nighttime attack on the gym.
If it was only because she said she was his fan… that was too absurd.
The gym had even more people than six days ago—over a hundred students. The middle-aged man was suppressed in less than ten minutes.
Xie Zhou sat in the man’s seat, casually observing the exhausted young faces around him.
Shock, disbelief, fear—everyone reacted differently.
News of Xie Zhou’s “death” had been erased, so everyone thought the escape group had died. No one expected them to return—and with overwhelming strength.
Luo Xiaoran and two other girls cried while hugging each other.
During the apocalypse, Luo Xiaoran had been shopping when everything happened. She received help messages too late to return—but thankfully, her friends were still alive.
The girls wiped their tears and thanked him.
“If it wasn’t for you, we would’ve been tortured to death!”
Around them, many others also showed gratitude.
Xie Zhou appeared like a god, rescuing the oppressed students.
Everyone hated the middle-aged man. He forced them to search for supplies and beat or killed them whenever he was displeased. More people had died at his hands than from zombies.
A girl tremblingly kicked his corpse.
“He’s a beast!”
Soon, others joined in, and the man’s final breath disappeared completely.
