Seeing Shen Zui’s reaction, Lou Boyu naturally guessed what had likely happened.

Back then, Shen Zui had indeed pestered him for a while. At the time, Lou Boyu simply thought Shen Zui was out of his mind—he had heard of AO, OO, and BO relationships, but he had never seen anyone engage in an AA romance.

Later, when Shen Zui got married, out of respect for the Shen family elders, Lou Boyu still attended the wedding.Full novel: After Pretending to Be a Scumbag, I Was Coveted by the Madmen — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

At that time, Shen Zui had even specially brought his wife over to introduce her to him, adopting an unusually solemn attitude and even apologizing to him face-to-face. Not only was his tone sincere, but he was also remarkably generous, directly handing over a prime resource controlled by the Shen family to Lou Boyu.

Lou Boyu was a businessman. Since he had suffered no real loss to begin with, and the other party had offered both an olive branch and genuine sincerity, he naturally went along with it and let the matter rest.

He just never expected to see Shen Zui again in a place like this today.

Soon, the tip of his nose caught a faint, elusive sweetness—like the scent of overripe lychees, carrying a hint of moist fruitiness.

Was this… Shen Zui’s pheromone?

Back when Shen Zui had been pestering him, Lou Boyu had never smelled it. At that time, he had been so disgusted that whenever Shen Zui appeared, he would immediately have his bodyguards keep him at a distance, never giving him a chance to get close.

But now, upon closer reflection, something felt vaguely off.

Why did he feel no aversion at all to Shen Zui’s pheromone?

Shen Zui was clearly an Alpha.

Logically speaking, pheromones between Alphas should exert a dominance hierarchy, but it shouldn’t be to the extent of eliciting no reaction whatsoever…

Could it be that Shen Zui’s pheromone was too weak? Lou Boyu couldn’t help but glance at Shen Zui again.

This glance, however, made his gaze freeze for a moment.

The man looked utterly disheveled—one shoe was missing, and he was barefoot. His cheeks were flushed with an unnatural redness, and the stray hairs at his forehead hung messily, covering most of his eyes.

Shen Zui seemed to be struggling to endure something, his teeth lightly biting his lower lip, which was slightly reddened and even stained with a trace of blood.

That touch of crimson, set against his dazed and restrained appearance, inexplicably carried an indescribable hint of sensuality.

Just as the elevator was about to reach the basement level, it suddenly jolted violently.

The next second, the light above flickered and went out with a sharp “snap,” plunging the elevator into sudden darkness. The elevator came to an abrupt halt and even dropped slightly.

Shen Zui felt his vision go dark.

He couldn’t help but curse inwardly: How could someone be this unlucky in life?

The elevator’s jolt made him lose his balance, and he fell to the floor.

Lou Boyu frowned, his expression clearly displeased. He fell silent for a moment, even instinctively suspecting that this might be some trick orchestrated by Shen Zui.

But how could that be? Shen Zui couldn’t have known he would be at Light today.

The next moment, he took out his phone, turned on the flashlight, and a blinding white light abruptly illuminated the dark elevator.

As the light fell, he saw Shen Zui huddled in the corner, curled into a ball as if instinctively keeping his distance.

Only then did Lou Boyu lower his guard slightly—it seemed this had nothing to do with Shen Zui.

“Shen Zui?”

Shen Zui seemed somewhat disoriented, taking a moment to respond before mumbling a reply.

“…Mm.”

Lou Boyu’s tone grew calmer. “Hold on a little longer. Someone will come to rescue us soon.”

“My phone still has a bit of signal, so I contacted my secretary. He’s on the basement level and has already gone to find Light’s manager.”

Another five minutes passed.

“Ugh…”

As if finally unable to hold back, Shen Zui let out a suppressed whimper.

“I… I’m burning up…”

His voice trembled, his entire body in extreme discomfort. The next moment, he uncontrollably reached out and grabbed at Lou Boyu.

Seeing this sudden movement, a flicker of impatience flashed in Lou Boyu’s eyes.

Almost instinctively, he released his pheromones, attempting to use an Alpha’s dominance to calm Shen Zui down. However, Shen Zui showed no reaction whatsoever.

Instead, Shen Zui lunged forward, pinning Lou Boyu heavily against the elevator wall.

“Thud!”

The phone slipped from Lou Boyu’s hand, falling to the floor and getting pressed beneath their bodies. The flashlight’s beam was momentarily blocked, dimming the elevator further.

Lou Boyu’s pupils contracted slightly.

How was this possible? Shen Zui actually showed no reaction to his pheromones at all?

Wasn’t it only Betas who weren’t affected by an Alpha’s pheromones?

But just moments ago, he had clearly caught the scent of pheromones on Shen Zui—faint, but definitely present.

Could it be that Shen Zui was an Enigma?

Yet that seemed almost impossible. Back when Shen Zui had been pestering him, Lou Boyu had thoroughly investigated Shen Zui’s background. Shen Zui had differentiated into an Alpha both times.

Moreover, as far as he knew, only one case of an Enigma had ever succeeded. And that was in Country C, through an extremely cruel and inhumane experiment, resulting in a fluke differentiation.

In the moment Lou Boyu was lost in thought, Shen Zui had already lowered his head.

His cheek pressed against Lou Boyu’s chest, his entire body straddling Lou Boyu as he rubbed restlessly against him.

Yet his movements were clumsy, as if he had no idea how to alleviate the discomfort in his body, only instinctively seeking closeness.

Lou Boyu’s body temperature was relatively low, which now felt exceptionally cool. Shen Zui clung to him almost subconsciously.

“Shen Zui…”

Lou Boyu drew a sharp breath, his voice noticeably tense.

“Tsk! Stop moving.”

“Ugh… wife, I’m hot…”

Shen Zui’s voice was soft and hoarse, tinged with a hint of tearful grievance.

Lou Boyu narrowed his eyes slightly, his tone clearly displeased.

“Look carefully, who’s your wife?”

But obviously, Shen Zui was far from rational at this moment. He pressed his entire body against Lou Boyu, his breathing feverish, his fingers already fumbling restlessly at the collar of Lou Boyu’s shirt, tugging and pulling as if grasping for something to cool him down.

“Husband…”

As soon as the word left his mouth—”Smack!”

Lou Boyu raised his hand and delivered a sharp slap to Shen Zui’s buttocks.

“Don’t call me that!”

Shen Zui immediately let out a muffled groan.

By the faint, dim light from the phone on the floor, Lou Boyu looked up to see Shen Zui gazing at him with teary eyes.

Those eyes were damp as if washed with water, the corners tinged red, his small face flushed with heat, his expression utterly disoriented.

One hand braced against Lou Boyu’s chest, his fingertips clutching tightly at his clothes as if afraid he might escape.

The other hand moved with complete lack of restraint, roaming haphazardly over Lou Boyu’s body, almost wreaking havoc.

Lou Boyu narrowed his eyes, taking a sharp breath. In that moment, a subtle change flickered across the man’s expression, a shadow of smoldering fire.

The next instant, he suddenly reached out, gripping Shen Zui’s chin.

The pressure was neither light nor heavy, yet carried an undeniable force. He forced Shen Zui to lower his head, meeting his gaze.

The distance between them was so close they could almost feel each other’s breath. Lou Boyu’s voice dropped, tinged with a dangerous edge.

“Why do you show no rejection to my pheromones?”

His fingertips tightened slightly.

“Tell me.”
