Just as Cheng Zhi had predicted, by evening the dormitory building had become restless. There seemed to be quite a few people moving through the corridors, trying to get into the eighth floor. Some negotiated, while others skipped the talking entirely and simply broke doors down and looted rooms by force.

Room 806 was not far from the stairs, so before long someone came knocking.

The knocking was fairly gentle. Looking through the peephole, Cheng Zhi saw a frail girl. Perhaps because she had gone hungry for too long, her cheeks had already become sunken.Full novel: After Rebirth: Dorm 806 Survived the Apocalypse by Stockpiling Supplies — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Excuse me, is anyone there? Could you give me some clean water to drink? I haven’t had clean water in four days. Just a little is enough.”

After speaking, the girl lowered her head. She looked like a walking corpse, devoid of even the slightest trace of hope.

A long time passed, and the girl simply stood quietly at the door. Cheng Zhi could not bear watching anymore and had just been about to tell her to leave.

Then the girl raised her head. Her eyes instantly filled with tears, and she choked back sobs as she said, “I know the situation is getting worse and worse. You probably don’t have much food left yourselves. I really only want a little water. I won’t rob you. I don’t have any companions anymore. It’s just me alone. Please.”

For a moment, Cheng Zhi felt a pain in her heart. She turned back to ask everyone’s opinion. The girl’s condition was already terrible. If even 806 rejected her, she might not survive the night.

Chen Siyu let out a bitter laugh and put down the dagger in her hand.

“This is the first person so far who has politely asked us instead of insulting us, cursing us, or personally attacking us.”

This sudden display of basic civility and manners stirred a trace of sympathy in 806. Yet at the same time, memories of being deceived and betrayed in their previous lives pulled at them as well. They felt incredibly conflicted.

In the end, Xiao Feiran picked up a bottle of mineral water, opened it, and poured out more than half. Then she grabbed a milk candy and prepared to send it out too.

The girl outside, who was on the verge of fainting from hunger, had never expected the door to Room 806 to open. After all, she had asked for help all the way from the second floor up, and not a single door had opened for her.

She was just about to turn around and leave when the door of Room 806 opened a crack. The person inside moved extremely quickly, stuffed the items into her hands, then immediately shut the door again.

The girl stared at the water and candy in her arms. She immediately drank the entire bottle of water in one go, then shoved the candy into her mouth.

The sweetness of the milk candy spread across her tongue, but all she wanted to do was cry.

She bowed toward Room 806, then hurriedly ran away.

Inside Room 806, silence fell for a short while.

Cheng Zhi sighed bitterly and placed a hand over her chest.

“It feels like my heart suddenly hurt a little.”

Beside her, Chen Siyu nodded repeatedly. She felt exactly the same way Cheng Zhi did.

Xiao Feiran secured the door latch again and joked, “Maybe you should get that checked. Could it be because you’re finally growing a conscience?”

“Quit being sarcastic.” Cheng Zhi put on a fierce expression. “You’d better not tell me you felt absolutely nothing.”

Xiao Feiran walked back to her spot, picked up the portion of mineral water that had been poured out earlier, and casually took two sips.

“Of course I felt something. My heart isn’t made of stone.”

“Everyone has their own fate. We’ve already helped as much as we could. Whether she survives or not depends on her now. Don’t worry too much about that girl.”

Zheng Wan’s gaze remained fixed on the dormitory door, as though she wanted to see through it and observe something outside.

Cheng Zhi gave a soft hum of acknowledgment and stopped thinking about her.

Their own safety was the priority right now.

Past one in the morning, the door of Room 806 started banging loudly again.

Chen Siyu, who was on night watch, pressed herself against the peephole and looked outside. To her surprise, there were three boys.

The other four were woken up by the noise as well. They grabbed their weapons and moved toward the door.

Chen Siyu shook her head, signaling them to wait and see. If those guys left on their own, they would not have to confront them directly.

The people outside knocked for a while and, realizing no one was responding, cursed loudly.

“Stop fucking pretending. If you don’t open this damn door, once I kick it open, I’ll fuck you all up!”

After saying that, he stepped back a few paces, then charged forward, trying to smash the door open.

An ordinary dorm room door might have collapsed from the impact, but Room 806 had already replaced theirs long ago.

The boy slammed into it, yet the door did not even shake.

Instead, he let out a miserable scream and clutched his shoulder.

Chen Siyu nearly laughed out loud.

He sure talked big for someone who could not even break down a door. How pathetic.

Perhaps the door’s iron-like sturdiness had wounded his fragile male pride.

He became furious, snatched the tennis racket from the boy behind him, and started smashing the lock.

“Fuck! A bunch of filthy bitches actually made me embarrass myself. Today I’m fucking killing all of you!”

The three of them smashed and pried while hurling insults nonstop. The commotion was unbelievably loud.

As the two hottest-tempered people in the dorm, Cheng Zhi and Xiao Feiran were already sharpening their metaphorical knives and glaring toward the door.

At first Zheng Wan and Huang Yiyi held them back. There was no way those guys could break the door down anyway. Once they got tired, they would leave.

But those three men outside truly never shut up. Their insults grew more and more disgusting.

Eventually they started talking about how women were physically and mentally weak, and in times like these they should not even stay alive wasting food. Instead, all the food should be given to men so they could survive.

Those beastly remarks instantly ignited the anger of the other three.

All five girls grabbed their weapons and prepared to go beat the hell out of them.

Chen Siyu, who stood closest to the door, suddenly yanked it open.

The three men had no time to react and tumbled straight into Room 806.

With a bang, Chen Siyu slammed the door shut.

Huang Yiyi, who had been hiding off to the side, held an electric baton in each hand. She jabbed two of the men directly in the kidneys with a barrage of shocks.

Before long, both of them passed out.

The remaining guy looked at his unconscious companions and finally realized they had picked a fight with people they should not have messed with.

He pulled out the fruit knife in his hand and lunged at Chen Siyu.

“Fuck! You bitches set me up!”

Seeing that, Cheng Zhi rushed forward and wrapped an arm around the man’s neck. Then she stabbed him several times in the lower back.

The man howled in agony.

Cheng Zhi tossed him aside like a bag of garbage, stood up, and stepped hard on the hand holding the knife.

“Stop with all the ‘your mom’ bullshit. Does your mother know you disrespect women this much? Does your mother know she raised a worthless piece of trash? You probably don’t even have a mother. If you had one, you couldn’t possibly have said the garbage you just said.”

Meanwhile, Xiao Feiran walked over to the other two men with a dagger and stabbed each of them twice.

Clean and precise, the attacks struck vital points directly.

Blood sprayed out and splattered onto her face.

Xiao Feiran looked utterly disgusted and cursed under her breath.

“Fucking filthy.”

Looking at these women in front of him, who killed people without changing their expressions, the boy who had been stabbed in the lower back turned pale with fear.

He was finished.

Today, he was going to die here.
