21 – Chapter 21
She Was the One He Truly Loved
After dinner, everyone returned to their rooms to rest.
Bo Jinye clung to An Sheng on the bed, “No, I don’t want to take medicine.”
“It’s not bitter medicine—it’s to help A Ye recover,” An Sheng coaxed while holding a glass of water.
Bo Jinye shook his head, “My body is perfectly fine!”
[I’m completely capable of giving it a try.]
An Sheng raised an eyebrow and poked the man’s arm. Bo Jinye grunted in pain and looked at her with grievance.
“Be good.” An Sheng fed him the medicine and soothed him with a kiss. “Did you enjoy dinner tonight?”
“It was delicious. Sheng Sheng is amazing.” Bo Jinye praised sincerely.
Forget about him—everyone at the dinner table tonight had tasted all kinds of delicacies. Yet they all agreed tonight’s meal was the best!
Even if he was biased because of his affection for An Sheng, the fact that even Ning Yun’ai and You Xin couldn’t stop eating proved the point.
An Sheng curved her lips, “If A Ye behaves from now on, I’ll make delicious food for you.”
“Sheng Sheng tastes the best.” Bo Jinye shamelessly leaned in to capture the girl’s lips. “Sheng Sheng’s mouth is soft and tender—the most delicious.”
“Other parts of Sheng Sheng seem wonderful too…”
The man’s voice faded into their kiss as he moved against An Sheng’s body.
An Sheng closed her eyes lightly, allowing Bo Jinye to kiss her freely.
The man seemed encouraged, growing restless, but ultimately buried himself in An Sheng’s embrace, kissing her neck to calm his emotions.
Sheng Sheng just woke up—he couldn’t.
[I’d rather suffer forever than let Sheng Sheng’s health weaken.]
An Sheng chuckled softly and tugged his hair, “Why did you stop kissing?”
She wasn’t so fragile that she couldn’t satisfy them both. Perhaps she would be the one unwilling to stop when the time came.
“Sheng Sheng is tired.” Bo Jinye took a deep breath and settled them both under the covers. “Sheng Sheng should rest.”
“I was so worried and scared when you fainted. The man’s deep voice flowed as he held An Sheng tightly.
An Sheng knew this time it really wasn’t Bo Jinye’s fault. Her strange illness had no known cure, and when she was neglected at the old residence it was one thing.
But if she frightened Bo Jinye again next year, that would be terrible.
“A Ye, actually… I’m a monster.” An Sheng laughed in the man’s embrace.
Bo Jinye paused, “Hm?”
“Ever since I started developing, this condition appears every year, usually during spring and summer.”
An Sheng explained slowly to Bo Jinye, “I’ve seen countless doctors—literally every doctor has no idea what’s wrong.”
“I forgot to tell you about this, and I didn’t know how to explain it. I’m sorry for frightening you.”
“When I’m sick, I become weaker and suffer more than normal people, but when I’m beaten or injured, I hardly feel any pain.”
“There are many other strange things about me that make me different from ordinary people.”
“A Ye, are you afraid of me?”
An Sheng lifted her gaze to look at the handsome man holding her.
Bo Jinye lowered his head to kiss her, “Sheng Sheng isn’t a monster.”
“Sheng Sheng is an elf.”
An Sheng’s heart skipped a beat as she felt Bo Jinye’s gentle lips, “An elf?”
“Sheng Sheng is the cutest, most beautiful little elf who came from the stars. Of course you’re different from ordinary people.”
Bo Jinye’s childlike words at this moment warmed An Sheng’s heart even more profoundly.”So in A Ye’s heart, I’m an elf.” An Sheng nuzzled Bo Jinye’s cheek.
“Everything beautiful in this world, in my heart, is Sheng Sheng.” Bo Jinye gazed at her solemnly. “Sheng Sheng is the best.”
“But what if I’m a bad person? I’ll do terrible things, the kind you didn’t like before you lost your memories.” An Sheng murmured softly.
Hadn’t Bo Jinye previously disliked her for being scheming and malicious?
Yet what she was about to do after leaving Brocade Garden would be exactly that.
Bo Jinye shook his head. “If Sheng Sheng does it, then it’s not bad – it’s good.”
“If Sheng Sheng is worried, then A Ye will stay like this forever.”
An Sheng frowned slightly, feeling her eyes grow misty.
Bo Jinye kissed her forehead. “Is Sheng Sheng sad because of the mistakes I made before I lost my memories?”
“No, I’m moved because of A Ye. Thank you, A Ye. I like you even more now.” An Sheng smiled and wrapped her arms around the man’s waist.
Bo Jinye, you said this yourself.
Bo Jinye, you’ve lost any possibility of leaving me or changing your heart toward me.
The man hummed softly, lulling An Sheng to sleep.
An Sheng slept deeply, watching the miserable past four years in her dreams, shattering them with her own hands.
Like being reborn…
Shen Yan had been restless these past two days.
That Bo Jinye couldn’t be this weak, could he? If something really happened, his master would kill him.
But he didn’t dare call An Sheng either.
After hesitating for two days at the hospital, before Shen Yan could figure out how to apologize to An Sheng, her call came through.
Seeing the caller ID on his desk phone, Shen Yan shot to his feet.
As if called to military attention.
A young nurse who had come to deliver a patient’s medical history jumped in fright. “Doctor Shen, you scared me to death!”
Shen Yan took the medical records and waved her off, staring at his phone as if it were a bomb.
At Brocade Garden, An Sheng raised an eyebrow. “Daring not to answer my call?”
Bo Jinye nestled into her embrace and peeked at the screen. “Who is Sheng Sheng calling?”
“The person who hurt A Ye.” An Sheng sent Shen Yan a WeChat message: “Answer the phone. Don’t make me come find you at the hospital.”
Then she coaxed Bo Jinye to go play elsewhere before rising to take the call on the balcony. “It’s me…”
“Master, are you alright now?” Shen Yan asked cautiously from the other end.
“I’m fine, but Bo Jinye isn’t. Shen Yan, have you considered the consequences if Bo Jinye had died?” An Sheng asked coldly.
Shen Yan was nearly crying from fear. “Master, I really didn’t mean to harm him…”
“I don’t care whether you meant to or not. There won’t be a next time.” An Sheng turned her gaze to Bo Jinye, who was watching her from beside the bed, and gave him a smile.
“I understand, Master.” Shen Yan replied dejectedly.
“As punishment, I want you to hand-copy ten copies of the Medical Classics. Neat handwriting, finished by tomorrow.” An Sheng hung up.
Shen Yan went frantic in his office. That Medical Classics was so thick! Ten copies! By tomorrow?! He’d have to pull an all-nighter!
Checking his schedule, Shen Yan started copying right there in his office.
He knew An Sheng never made empty threats – if the copies weren’t ready by morning.
It would become one hundred copies.
You Xin brought an apple over for Bo Jinye, waving it in front of the man. “Fourth Brother, Fourth Brother, want some Fourth Brother?”
Bo Jinye stared coldly at him, then raised his hand and smacked the apple away.
You Xin looked down at the apple rolling across the floor, deeply hurt.
Note to self: can’t tease Fourth Brother even when he’s like this. Remember, remember.
