An Sheng had a bit of a headache.

She had been caught in the rain and hadn’t been living well at the old mansion, so her health had become much weaker than before.

She was likely to catch a cold and develop a fever.

Moreover…

This was the first time she had seen Bo Jinye like this.

Completely different from how he was with An Ruyue.

She used to envy An Ruyue for being able to receive Bo Jinye’s affection.

But the current Bo Jinye seemed to make her like him even more.

An Sheng’s headache grew worse, and her mind began to feel dizzy.

Bo Jinye noticed something was wrong and quickly held her. “You were caught in the rain—you might get a fever.”

“Let’s rest for now, okay?”

Afraid that An Sheng might refuse, Bo Jinye added in a pleading tone, “Please…”

An Sheng leaned against his chest, her eyelids growing heavy.

Her constitution was special—she rarely felt pain, but when she fell ill, the discomfort would multiply.

So she never dared to let herself get sick.

But today, Bo Jinye had stirred her emotions too intensely.

Bo Jinye was so frightened his heart nearly stopped. He picked An Sheng up and rushed out.

…

An Sheng slept for a full day and only woke up late the following night.

She was held in someone’s arms, with Bo Jinye’s arm wrapped around her waist.

The man’s warm breath brushed against the top of her head.

For a moment, An Sheng thought she was dreaming.

But this dream felt too real.

An Sheng felt slightly breathless. She gently moved Bo Jinye’s arm away, got out of bed, and walked to the balcony.

The early summer night breeze was still cool. An Sheng took a few deep breaths and looked up at the bright, luminous moon in the sky.

Leaning against the railing, she looked like a statue of a beautiful woman frozen in time.

Bo Jinye tightened his embrace but found it empty. He woke with a start. “An Sheng?!”

The girl’s slender, delicate figure came into view.

As if she were about to ascend to the moon and depart.

Bo Jinye grabbed a shawl and walked over, embracing An Sheng from behind. His voice was hoarse and muffled as he buried his face in the girl’s neck. “Baby…”

An Sheng snapped out of her thoughts and chuckled softly. “President Bo, have you called the wrong person?”

“From the back, do I really look that much like An Ruyue?”

She and An Ruyue were half-sisters and didn’t look very much alike.

But Bo Jinye had once mistaken their silhouettes.

Bo Jinye held her tighter. “No, I didn’t call the wrong person.”

“Sheng Sheng, this nickname is only for you.”

An Sheng didn’t doubt this, as Bo Jinye never lied.

The Bo family had strict upbringing, and Bo Jinye only broke his own boundaries of propriety when he was with her.

“Let’s go back and lie down, okay? You have a slight fever and need to rest properly,” Bo Jinye coaxed gently.

An Sheng patted him, signaling for him to let go. “I will rest, but President Bo, you’re not planning to stay the night, are you?”

“Four years ago, when you forced me to take contraceptive pills, you said you would never share a bed with me again.”

“President Bo, surely you wouldn’t go back on your own words.”

Mentioning this incident, Bo Jinye felt regret as sharp as a knife piercing his heart.

That was after the night he spent with An Sheng—he had forced her to take contraceptive pills.

In his previous life, he hadn’t wanted any further entanglement with An Sheng.

But now, he wished he could have a whole football team of children with her!

Bo Jinye took An Sheng’s hand and slapped his own face with it. “No, I want to go back on my words.”

“Hit me hard, as long as it makes you happy.”

An Sheng looked at him, then slapped him back with the back of her hand.

She loved Bo Jinye.

But she also hated him.

This slap was nothing he didn’t deserve.Bo Jinye gently offered his other cheek with a tender expression. “Once more?”

“If your hand hurts, you can use something else to hit me.”

An Sheng couldn’t help but laugh. Bo Jinye stared dazedly at her smiling face, then involuntarily lowered his lashes and slowly leaned closer.

The man’s face magnified before her eyes, his cool breath enveloping her. Just as his pale lips were about to touch hers—

An Sheng pushed him away.

Bo Jinye’s eyes flickered as he stumbled back two steps and fell from the second floor!

An Sheng froze. “Bo Jinye!”

The man lay unconscious on the lawn below.

Late at night, an ambulance wailed its arrival, then departed just as urgently.

An Sheng waited in the corridor outside the emergency room.

Shi Yan and Bo Jinye’s personal bodyguard Bo Xiyuan emerged. “Madam…”

“How is President Bo?” An Sheng lifted her gaze to ask.

Shi Yan’s expression flickered subtly for an instant before he quickly masked it. “The doctor said further examination is needed.”

“Madam, you have a fever. Shall I have Xiyuan take you back to rest? I can handle things here with President Bo.”

An Sheng glanced inside, then swept her gaze over Shi Yan and Bo Xiyuan. “Alright…”

Although Bo Jinye’s subordinates never disrespected her, they remained quite wary.

Now that Bo Jinye was injured—and by her push—it was natural they wouldn’t let her get close.

Returning to the old mansion, An Sheng had no intention of resting. She took out her phone and made a call. “It’s me…”

“Master?! What brings you to call this old one!” A cheerful voice answered.

An Sheng stiffened. “Next time, omit ‘old one’.”

“Understood, Master. Are you sick, Master?” the voice inquired again.

An Sheng’s clenched fist tightened.

“Not me—it’s Bo Jinye. He fell from the second floor and is at your hospital now. Could you check on him for me?” An Sheng whispered.

Shen Yan immediately lost interest upon hearing it was about Bo Jinye. “I don’t want to see him.”

“What’s so great about that guy to make you dote on him so much? He wouldn’t be wronged even if he fell to his death.”

An Sheng sighed softly. “Even if he were flawed in every way, I would still cherish him.”

“Please go check.”

Shen Yan grunted reluctantly and left his office.

He was an externally contracted surgical specialist at Qinghe Hospital, affiliated with Luocheng Medical University.

He enjoyed the highest privileges and held the title of the youngest honorary professor at Luocheng Medical University.

Luocheng Medical University was a top-tier medical institution domestically, renowned internationally especially for its surgical department.

Shen Yan left his office and went to the emergency room. “Where was the patient who fell from the second floor earlier sent?”

“Ah, Dr. Shen! Let me check.” The nurse at the station blushed.

Dr. Shen was so handsome!

“Patient Bo Jinye has been transferred to the VIP ward. He has privileged access at our hospital,” the nurse said.

Shen Yan snorted. “What’s his condition? Who examined him earlier?”

“Dr. Zhang from emergency.”

After getting the details, Shen Yan called An Sheng back. “I checked—he’s fine, nothing serious.”

“Just a mild concussion. Sleeping it off for a couple of days will do. Hardly worth the VIP ward.”

Shen Yan curled his lip.

An Sheng felt relieved. “He’s Bo Jinye of Luocheng—of course they’d take extra care. Thank you for your trouble.”

“You’re the one who suffers, Master. When are you divorcing him?” Shen Yan asked.Thinking about the events of the past two days, An Sheng chuckled softly, “I’m afraid we won’t be able to separate for quite some time.”

“Let it be this way then.”

An Sheng had assumed Bo Jinye would be discharged from the hospital after just a couple of days.

Unexpectedly, the next morning, Shi Yan came to find An Sheng with a grave and solemn expression.

“Madam, President Bo… something has happened…”
