What the woman didn’t expect was that, faced with her greatest weapon—her stunning beauty and alluring figure—Chi You merely glanced up at her once before withdrawing his gaze. And just before he looked away, his eyes had turned cold, filled with disgust and disdain.
She had never been looked at like that before. It stung her deeply.
But seeing Chi You walk away without even turning his head, she could only suppress her intense resentment and call out to him again in a soft, pleading voice.
However, not only did he not look back, he didn’t even slow his steps.
Her anger surged. Her delicate features twisted into something ugly and feral. She glanced around, then grabbed the alarm clock from her bedside table, adjusted the time, and hurled it with force in Chi You’s direction.
Not going to save me?
Then none of us will live!
“Ring! Ring! Ring!!!”
Before it even hit the ground, the alarm burst into a piercing, frantic sound. The noise echoed through the empty complex, instantly attracting a large number of zombies.
Chi You stopped and looked at the alarm clock on the ground. The battery had fallen out, and the ringing stopped—but it was too late. Nearly thirty zombies crawled out from all directions.
For Chi You, who had leveled up again, this wasn’t a threat.
He raised his head and met the woman’s hateful gaze.
“Go to hell.”
Their eyes locked. The woman mouthed the words silently, then dragged a chair over and sat down. She wanted to watch with her own eyes as Chi You was torn apart by zombies.
However, in just a few seconds, when she looked down again—
Chi You was gone.
Where did he go?
The woman looked around frantically, scanning every corner. Aside from the grotesque zombies, there were no other moving figures.
“Thud!”
At that moment, a heavy sound suddenly came from below her. She looked toward the source and saw a blur rapidly darting between two rows of balconies. Before she could react, the blur abruptly stopped right in front of her.
“Ah!”
The moment she saw Chi You’s face, she screamed. Terrified, she collapsed onto the ground and scrambled backward, but in the next instant, a powerful force grabbed the back of her head. Strands of hair snapped one by one as she was violently dragged back.
Chi You leaned forward slightly, his smile gentle. “You wanted to kill me?”
The woman felt as if her scalp was about to be torn off. Tears streamed uncontrollably down her face. She tried to struggle, but her answer was a heavy punch from Chi You that smashed into her face, knocking the implant out of her nose.
This time, her features were truly twisted beyond recognition.
“My nose! My nose!”
She wailed, tears and blood pouring down her face as a heart-wrenching scream tore from her throat. Find the original chapter at novelping.com.
“You wanted to kill me?” Chi You still wore that same gentle expression, like a kind older neighbor greeting someone in the morning—if one ignored the woman writhing and screaming beside him.
“I was wrong! I was wrong! I won’t dare again!”
She desperately begged for forgiveness. Yellowish liquid streamed down her thighs, dripping onto the ground. The stench quickly filled the small balcony.
With a look of disgust, Chi You released her. The woman didn’t care about the filth beneath her as she frantically kowtowed, begging for mercy.
“Don’t worry, I won’t kill you.”
His words made her stop. Surprise and disbelief filled her eyes. She couldn’t believe he would let her off so easily.
“But…”
Chi You’s smile grew even gentler, yet his next words turned him into a demon in her eyes.
“They might not.”
He grabbed her hair again and flung her out the window. Her body traced a graceful arc through the air, accompanied by a shrill scream, before crashing heavily into the gathering group of zombies below.
From the height of the 4th floor, unless extremely unlucky, she wouldn’t die instantly—though broken bones were unavoidable.
She lay in a pool of blood. Her legs bent in the opposite direction, her chest caved in slightly, ribs likely piercing her lungs. Only hoarse, choking sounds escaped her throat.
“Roar!”
The zombies didn’t waste this “gift from the sky.” In the woman’s despairing gaze, their roars easily drowned out her cries.
“5:31.”
Leaning against the window railing, Chi You watched as the woman was devoured, while glancing at the clock inside the room from the corner of his eye.
There were 29 minutes left until nightfall. He calculated the time.
“Still enough.”
Activating the Featherfall Ring, Chi You leapt from the 4th floor.
The ring flashed. He landed heavily on the ground without a single injury—not even numbness in his legs.
While the zombies were still busy devouring the woman’s body, Chi You swung a horizontal slash at the clustered group.
After leveling up, the required Experience had increased from 100 to 300. A Level 1 zombie gave 2 Experience. Over twenty zombies meant about 50 Experience—one-sixth of a level. There was no reason to pass it up.
The open plaza gave the clumsy zombies no advantage. Against a Level 3 Chi You, they posed no threat at all. In no time, he wiped them out with ease.
Chi You stepped forward and slashed, cutting her cleanly in half.
[Experience +2]
As the notification appeared, a cluster of white light floated out from her body.
Oh? A drop.
Not bad.
Chi You took out the card from the white light.
Heh.
It was actually equipment.
Equipment: Boots of Agility
Grade: Bronze Grade
Attribute: Agility +2
Though the attribute wasn’t much, +2 was still +2. This was the first piece of equipment he had obtained.
See? Sometimes not killing an enemy immediately had its benefits.
If he had killed her upstairs, how would he have gotten this equipment?
Putting away the card, Chi You used the same method as before—without using the stairwell, he moved along the outside, leaping between adjacent balconies until he reached the 10th floor.
This unit was quiet.
With a single strike, he shattered the glass door and entered the living room.
On the bedroom wall hung a very new wedding photo. Even the “double happiness” decoration on the window hadn’t been removed. It looked like a newly moved-in marital home.
Chi You searched the place and found a few bags of snacks. He then took out water, bread, and a can from his supplies.
Cards were convenient for carrying. As long as he had other supplies, it was best not to use the cards unless necessary.
After preparing the food, Chi You tore open the equipment card. The Boots of Agility looked like light green Martin boots—not particularly attractive, but this wasn’t the time to worry about appearance.
He put them on and ate while looking out the window.
At exactly 6:00 PM, a blood-red moon rose, staining the dark sky crimson. The howls of zombies rose and fell endlessly.
After eating, Chi You closed the bedroom door and lay down to rest without even changing his clothes.
