Beneath the crimson clouds, the enormous Blazing Flame Bird spread its wings and soared through the sky, with several Huoyan Birds following behind. If not for the Huoyan Birds behind it, this would have been a beautiful scene.
Since Yuan Wu had plucked away so many of its feathers, the Huoyan Bird had already become bald. The way it flew was truly hilarious, especially compared with the Blazing Flame Bird’s glossy plumage. It was even more... hilarious.
“Old Lie, come down. I need to talk to you.” Yuan Wu shouted toward the sky.
The Blazing Flame Bird changed direction and flew toward her.
It landed steadily, and the clownish Huoyan Birds behind it gathered around as well.
Huh🟡 Is it time to eat?🟨
Cluck cluck cluck🟡 Yay yay yay, it’s time to eat!🟨
Yuan Wu “.........”
Damn it, do these birds have nothing in their heads except food?
“No. I’m going out with Bai Yuehan tomorrow. You’ll have to stay at the Farm and keep watch yourselves. Um... I’ll give you an extra meal.” The moment Yuan Wu finished that last sentence, the attitudes of the birds clearly changed. They became extremely obsequious.
Huh🟡 Hey, isn’t it just watching the Farm? I’m familiar with this. Remember to add an extra serving of the Bug Family Portrait, okay~🟨
Cluck cluck cluck🟡 We can do it too, we can do it too. Half a share is enough; we’re not greedy.🟨
“All right, I know.” Yuan Wu looked at the sly birds and almost laughed.
After speaking with the birds, she carried a bag of things and left the Farm again, only returning leisurely after half an hour.
The next day.
Early in the morning, there was not the slightest sound from the Farm.
Bai Yuehan pushed away Yuan Wu, whose hands and feet were draped over her, and propped herself up. “Get up, Yuan Seventeen.”
The only response was Yuan Wu’s snoring.
“Tsk, didn’t you say we were going to Azure Dragon Town? It’ll take quite a while to get there. Aren’t you getting up?” Bai Yuehan was utterly exasperated as she looked at Yuan Wu, who was refusing to leave her bed.
“Relax, relax. Go back to sleep; it’s still early.” Yuan Wu looked completely unhurried. She turned over and continued sleeping, conveniently pulling Bai Yuehan down with her.
After lying down again, Bai Yuehan fell into deep thought. Then sleepiness proved contagious; she closed her eyes and drifted into a dream.
Bai Yuehan despised herself for sinking so far, but sleeping really was wonderful.
Coo coo coo coo coo
A cry came from outside. By the time Bai Yuehan woke up, Yuan Wu had already finished getting ready and was squatting beside the bed, chewing on Jianbing Guozi. When she saw Bai Yuehan wake, she flashed her a toothy grin.
“You’re awake! Did you sleep well? You must have been exhausted yesterday. Why did you wake up so early? You should rest when you need to.”
“Weren’t we going to Azure Dragon Town?” Bai Yuehan asked in confusion.
“Yes. We’re going now.” Yuan Wu smiled.
“Will we make it in time?”
“Of course. We’ll make it if we ride the Three-Eyed Crows.”
“The Three-Eyed Crows?”
“Hehe, look outside.”
Bai Yuehan opened the door. Two Three-Eyed Crows were eating Chicken Feed, with chairs strapped to their backs.
She was stunned and turned to look at Yuan Wu. “You did this?”
“Yep. Not bad for a Yuan-brand flying machine, right?”
“What?” Bai Yuehan did not understand.
“Nothing. Get on; we’re ready to set off.” Yuan Wu pulled her onto a Three-Eyed Crow and called out to them.
They rose into the wind.
Beneath the azure sky.
Yuan Wu rode the Three-Eyed Crow, tilting her head and looking around. She was utterly carefree. This was her first time riding a bird, and it was seriously so cool.
She spread her arms and felt the wind.
Fortunately, she had put a Protective shield around herself. Otherwise, with the Three-Eyed Crows’ speed, the wind would have blown her to death.
“Xiao Wu, how much longer until we arrive?” Bai Yuehan sat properly atop the Three-Eyed Crow, looking every bit like a Fairy, forming a stark contrast with Yuan Wu, who was sprawled out.
The languid Yuan Wu yawned and looked down. “Um... I’d estimate another fifteen minutes... Ow, what the heck... Ahhhhhhh, someone save me!”
“Xiao Wu!”
Before Yuan Wu had even finished speaking, she was struck by something unknown that had flown out of nowhere. It happened so suddenly that even the Three-Eyed Crow could not evade it, and Yuan Wu’s small Protective shield was even less capable of resisting the blow. The object sent her crashing downward, leaving only the two bewildered Three-Eyed Crows and Bai Yuehan in the sky.
“Stop standing there stunned and go catch her!” Bai Yuehan hurriedly shouted at the motionless Three-Eyed Crows.
Coming to their senses, the Three-Eyed Crows dove forward and chased after Yuan Wu as she continued plummeting.
“Ahhhhhhh, save me! System! I’m going to die!” Yuan Wu was on the verge of tears. Why was she so unlucky?
🟡Host, don’t panic. This is a minor incident.🟨
The System’s voice sounded especially cold at that moment, making Yuan Wu’s heart turn icy.
“Minor incident my ass! I’m about to be smashed into meat paste, and you call this a minor incident? Ahhhhhhh!” Yuan Wu opened her mouth and swallowed a gust of wind.
She flailed frantically in midair like a giant turtle.
Swoosh~
“Save me!” Seeing the ground rushing closer and closer, Yuan Wu peacefully closed her eyes. Her hands and feet stopped flailing. She was going to heaven.
But at the critical moment, she landed safely on the Three-Eyed Crow.
“Xiao Wu, are you all right?” Bai Yuehan rode the other Three-Eyed Crow closer and asked worriedly.
Yuan Wu had not yet recovered her senses. Her eyes were vacant as she merely stared at Bai Yuehan and opened her mouth slightly. “Uh ba, uh ba... uh ba ba...”
Bai Yuehan took one look and sighed.
It was over. She had been scared senseless.
She directed the Three-Eyed Crow to land and hurried forward to support Yuan Wu. Yuan Wu’s entire body had gone limp from fright. That had been far too thrilling—the first time in both her lives that she had experienced falling off a bird...
Like a boneless snake, she collapsed against Bai Yuehan, burying her head firmly against Bai Yuehan’s chest and taking the opportunity to feel her up.
Even the System was speechless.
🟡I told you it was a minor incident. I think you were just pretending, weren’t you? You only wanted to take advantage of the female protagonist. Shameless.🟨
Yuan Wu rolled her eyes at the System.
🟢Heh, you have quite the imagination, don’t you? Want me to give you a thumbs-up?🟩
🟡I guessed correctly, and now you’re lashing out in embarrassment, aren’t you?🟨 The System let out a disdainful laugh.
That made Yuan Wu stamp her feet in anger.
🟢Melon, give me a melon!🟩
🟡Tsk tsk tsk, you’re so angry that you can’t even say “roll” properly. Forget it, I’m not chatting with you anymore. I still have things to do.🟨
🟢...........🟩 Yuan Wu was speechless.
“Xiao Wu, Xiao Wu!”
A gentle yet cool voice brought Yuan Wu back to her senses. Bai Yuehan lightly patted her face.
Opening her eyes, Yuan Wu looked pitiful and threw herself into Bai Yuehan’s arms, crying, “Waaaaah, Hanhan, do you know how scared I was? I fell from sooo high up, waaaah... It was terrifying!”
“Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid.” Bai Yuehan did not know how to comfort Yuan Wu and could only repeat those two words stiffly.
“Hmph, I’m going to see what kind of thing knocked me down. Whoever did this had better not let me find out, or I definitely won’t forgive them!” Yuan Wu clenched her fists fiercely, her eyes filled with anger.
Her emotions had more or less settled, so she waved her hand grandly and headed toward the place where that thing had fallen.
She remembered that the thing had landed fairly close by.
The outskirts of Maple Forest Mountain.
Among the red rhododendron flowers, a huge crater had torn through the area. No one knew how deep it was; its bottom was nowhere in sight.
Yuan Wu squatted at the edge of the crater and leaned inside, but could not see a thing. “Tsk, is this a meteorite? No way... If it really is a meteorite, wouldn’t I have been smashed to death? But if it isn’t a meteorite, then what could it be? Could it be... Ahhhhhhh, a ghost!”
Yuan Wu was still thinking when she looked up and came face-to-face with a black, disheveled face. Terrified, she scrambled and rolled over to Bai Yuehan’s side.
“You... what kind of thing are you?” Yuan Wu pointed at the creature climbing out of the crater.
“I... cough, cough, I am Gu Qingxuan of the Violet Heaven Sect.” The blackened figure spoke in a refined manner, which was completely at odds with his current appearance.
“Gu Qingxuan? That name sounds familiar.” Bai Yuehan thought for a moment. “Could you be that legendary genius sword cultivator with the Innate Sword Bone?”
“Indeed.” Gu Qingxuan nodded. With a Cleansing Technique, he restored his true appearance. Aside from the tattered gray robes he wore, his face was dazzling enough to blind Yuan Wu.
It was at that moment that Yuan Wu remembered him.
Damn, isn’t this the male protagonist?!
But being the male protagonist was no excuse. He had nearly smashed her to death, and he had to answer for that.
She folded her arms across her chest, grinding her teeth in anger. “Do you realize you nearly got me killed?”
“I unintentionally struck you and caused you injury. I am truly sorry. This Seven-Month Flower is my compensation.” Gu Qingxuan was also aware of what had happened, and his handsome face was filled with remorse.
He took out the most valuable thing he currently possessed, a Seven-Month Flower, and held it out to Yuan Wu. But before she could accept it, he suddenly spat blood all over her. “Cough, cough... forgive me... I... cough, cough...”
Gu Qingxuan had just fought a fierce battle with the Heaven-Swallowing Python. The fact that he was still standing meant he was already at the end of his strength. After spitting blood, he fainted.
Yuan Wu, who had suffered one misfortune after another, wiped the blood from her face and glared at the unconscious Gu Qingxuan through clenched teeth. “Damn it, did he do that on purpose?”
Bai Yuehan shook her head. This poor unlucky child.
“Quick, wipe it off.” She handed Yuan Wu a handkerchief, then looked down at the unconscious Gu Qingxuan. “What are we going to do with him?”
“What else can we do? We can’t just watch him die.”
Although he would not die anyway. After all, he was the male protagonist.
Yuan Wu complained inwardly.
They said goodbye to the Three-Eyed Crows and instructed them to return here in five days to carry them back.
Yuan Wu and Bai Yuehan dragged the unconscious Gu Qingxuan toward Azure Dragon Town.
And this was genuinely dragging him.
Yuan Wu used wooden planks to make a large board, placed Gu Qingxuan on top, and then dragged him along by a rope.
Poor Gu Qingxuan was bumped and jolted by rocks along the way. Sometimes the board overturned and sent him tumbling off. By the end, his face had somehow swollen up.
Azure Dragon Town.
“Come take a look! Don’t miss out! Freshly steamed pork buns, only two coins each, or three for five coins!”
“Candied hawthorn! Candied hawthorn! Delicious candied hawthorn, three coins a skewer!”
“Premium rouge! Miss, would you like to take a look?”
“First-grade Fire Talisman, Speed Talisman, and Earth-Escaping Talisman! Only three spirit stones! With three spirit stones, you won’t lose out, and you won’t be cheated!”
Yuan Wu entered Azure Dragon Town. As she watched the vendors calling out their wares, a wave of familiarity washed over her. She completely forgot that she was still dragging someone behind her.
When she started running, she did not care in the slightest whether the man lived or died.
Bai Yuehan could not bear to watch any longer. Afraid that others would think they belonged to some evil cult and drive them out, she took the unconscious Gu Qingxuan from Yuan Wu and supported him herself.
Freed from her burden, Yuan Wu scampered over to the bun stall. “Boss, give me three large pork buns.”
The chubby boss accepted the money and cheerfully wrapped up three large buns for her.
Yuan Wu carried the buns back to Bai Yuehan, handed her one, and then ate the other two herself... Haha.
“Waaah, these pork buns are so fragrant. I’m going to buy a hundred when we get back!” Yuan Wu gnawed on a large pork bun, drooling with happiness.
The Farm only had those few dishes every day, and eating them for too long had become tiresome. She hoped that after completing this mission, she would be rewarded with a Food Card slot so she could have something new to eat.
“Xiao Wu, where are we going now?” Bai Yuehan asked.
“We’ll find an alchemy cultivator to treat this guy’s injuries. Then we’ll ask around about the whereabouts of the Rhinoceros Calf.”
“All right.”
