“I absolutely will not get engaged to Jiang Yan.” She had finally broken free of the marriage arranged for her by Yin Man, and had finally felt that she possessed freedom. She had clearly still been rejoicing over Yin Man’s reformation, only to be met by a bucket of cold water from her biological father.
He was clearly someone who cared about her, yet knowing that what she wanted most was freedom, he still came to sever the wings that let her soar.
Hot tears from Yin Youxia soaked her skin as she looked at Yin Nanbai in disbelief. And Wen Si was still silent. She did not have the courage to resist her husband, nor did she have the courage to fight for her daughter even a little. Just as when Yin Youxia was locked up by Yin Man, she merely told Yin Youxia to endure.
But Yin Youxia was not like her. She had not inherited Wen Si’s weakness, and had always been fighting for her future.
Whether facing Yin Man or Yin Nanbai, she argued with reason, and all of this made Wen Si afraid.
It would have been better to settle Liu Siyin’s marriage from the very beginning. That way, Yin Youxia’s hope would be completely cut off. But that young lady herself had gone and taken Liu Siyin over again, and taken that marriage proposal over with her as well, giving Yin Youxia a bit of hope.
If Liu Siyin really married her, the bad person would only be Yin Man. How would that have ruined the father-daughter bond between Yin Youxia and Yin Nanbai.
Watching the two of them, father and daughter, locked in a face-off, Wen Si felt fear.
When Yin Man and Liu Siyin were sent back, they saw the confrontation between father and daughter. Yin Youxia’s eyes were red with anger as she glared at the father she once regarded as kind, while Yin Nanbai, no longer his usual gentle self, was now looking coldly at the daughter who had always been so obedient.
Yin Man sat in her wheelchair as she was pushed along, and Liu Siyin followed behind, supported by someone. One crippled, one blind, yet neither had lost their bearing. Yin Man watched the scene before her with great interest, with no intention of joining in.
Wen Si noticed her and said, “Manman is back.” She tried to use Yin Man’s arrival to break the father and daughter’s hostility, but Yin Man did not answer and instead instructed the nanny, “Upstairs.”
“Big sister!” Yin Youxia was grasping at straws and turned to Yin Man for help.
She had just felt some humanity from Yin Man, only for Yin Man to shatter that expectation. Meeting Yin Youxia’s hopeful gaze, Yin Man merely curled the corner of her lips. “Jiang Yan is very well-born.”
“Then why don’t you marry her!” Yin Man’s faint smile was not gentle or warm. Although she was not the original owner, and had no personal grudge against Yin Youxia, when she thought of the later events in the book, and thought of Liu Siyin just being pulled back from the edge of life and death, she could not bring herself to like Yin Youxia either.
She could not stand this sort of talk even more, and pressed her lips together slightly. “What does she have to do with me.”
“Who in the Yin family doesn’t know that Jiang Yan once seduced you? Yin Man, from childhood to adulthood you have always been like this, stuffing everything you don’t want into my hands.”
Jiang Yan and her?
Tender skin rippled with a lovely sheen under the ambiguous light, a faint blush stained the flawless white face, and the nearly transparent long dress on her body could not conceal that graceful figure. The usually arrogant person was now prostrating herself at Yin Man’s feet, softly opening her mouth. “Miss Yin.”
Those shimmering, light-filled eyes were full of temptation, yet there was none of the imagined sensuality. There was no admiring gaze, only contempt spreading in her eyes. Yin Man said coldly, “You don’t really think I made you my private doctor because I took a fancy to you, do you?”
“Jiang Yan, crawling into my bed, are you worthy?”
As soon as the words fell, she successfully enjoyed Doctor Jiang’s expression of shame and anger.
Little by little, memories belonging to the original owner were awakened. Yin Man covered her eyes, concealing the helplessness in them. This memory also had to be awakened bit by bit, which was far too inconvenient. No wonder Jiang Yan’s attitude toward her was strange. Jiang Yan, with her proud and haughty temperament, probably hated Yin Man to the point of wanting to skin her alive.
Thinking of Jiang Wan’s attitude again, they really were sisterly. Just how many people had the original owner indirectly offended?
If there came a day when she fell from a height, that would truly be a fall to pieces.
Her thoughts lingered again on the later story. Although there was no ending, Yin Man in the latter part of the story was indeed going downhill step by step. Mei Xuying stirred up the relationship between Yin Zhe and Yin Man, Yin Man’s support really did become thinner and thinner, and even the family elders gradually saw Yin Youxia’s strengths. If it were written further, Yin Man would definitely be miserable.
Of course, she would not wait for that day to come, not only for herself, but also for Liu Siyin. She had finally saved Liu Siyin, and only power was the best protection for Liu Siyin.
Rarely, she really wanted to protect someone.
Yin Man turned her head to glance at Liu Siyin, and her mood improved somewhat. In this world, it seemed that nothing belonged to her, and only Liu Siyin was the one she had saved.
“Yin Man, I’m your younger sister, not your subordinate. I don’t have any duty to take over your leftovers!” Yin Youxia obviously used the wrong words. The original owner had never even touched a single finger of Jiang Yan. At most, she had admired Jiang Yan’s coy demeanor in a sexy nightdress.
Yin Man had wanted to kindly explain, but the words that came out still changed a little in flavor. “Yin Youxia, you need to get one thing straight. Jiang Yan was not someone I didn’t want, she was someone I looked down on.”
“You!” That only made things even worse, and Yin Youxia felt insulted.
And Yin Man felt irritated. Many times, she could not control the body’s right to speak. Since it was making her unhappy, she simply decided not to stay any longer. “You can keep arguing. We’re going upstairs first.”
“Yin Man!” The shrill cry from behind reached her ears, and Yin Man only found it noisy. Fortunately, her nanny only listened to her and did not stop, otherwise she definitely would not have been able to resist locking Yin Youxia up to teach her a lesson and make her shut her mouth obediently.
Thought patterns that did not belong to her made her miserable. Dense, prickling pain rushed upward from her knees, and Yin Man’s breathing gradually grew heavy. The person pushing the wheelchair immediately noticed something was wrong. “Miss, are you feeling unwell?”
The sound by her ear seemed to be separated by a layer of film, and she could not hear it clearly no matter what.
There were sounds that did not belong here, slowly covering the concerned words. “Even if I die, I am still the one in charge.”
“Want to make a move? You do, don’t you? Don’t restrain the body’s desires.”
“Get lost!” Yin Man forcefully shook off the hand reaching toward her. That servant was pushed far away, and Yin Man casually grabbed the soft whip leaning against the door and lashed it out once.
She was in a daze, not knowing what she had hit, and the increasingly many voices by her ear made her even more irritated.
“Miss, do you want to go to the hospital and have a look?” At times like this, they had seen Yin Man this way too many times. She did not even dodge the soft whip, allowing it to strike her arm, then leaned toward Yin Man, which only provoked even greater emotion from Yin Man. “Get lost!”
“Sister Man.” Being blind still had many inconveniences. For example, when someone was caring about her, they had to be guided by another hand before they could touch the back of her hand.
The veins on Yin Man’s hand were slightly bulging, and Yin Man’s palm was covered in sweat, both declaring her pain.
“Sister Man, are you in a lot of pain?” The commotion was not small, and the only regret was that she could not see what was happening.
Liu Siyin’s concern was written all over her face, and that sincerity and anxiety brought up wave after wave of warmth.
“You—” As she touched Liu Siyin’s soft, boneless hand, the restless heart actually gradually calmed down. The voices by her ear slowly dispersed, and that pain also gradually faded, making her once again unable to help wondering whether Liu Siyin really was her medicine.
Or perhaps, to put it another way, her arrival might have been for Liu Siyin. Only when she was close to Liu Siyin was she herself, that kind and gentle version of herself. Only with Liu Siyin by her side would Yin Man feel that she and the original owner were different, that they were not the same person and would not become the same person.
“It doesn’t hurt.” She gently shook her head. Her body, already worn sore by the pain, voiced its protest. Yin Man clenched her teeth and did not make a sound, because she did not want Liu Siyin to worry, but Liu Siyin said, “No, I know. You’re in pain.”
Liu Siyin could, even without being able to see, rely on breathing and touch to feel her pain.
Suddenly, she felt that perhaps she had come for her, and that Liu Siyin also lived for her.
If she did not come, Liu Siyin would surely die.
If Liu Siyin did not live, she would be swallowed by the original owner.
There would be no preserved goodness, no family or friends of her own, and she would merge into this world.
“Liu Siyin, if I said I came to save you, would you believe me?” She hoped Liu Siyin would not think such words were funny, because she was saying them very seriously.
The result was that Liu Siyin answered even more seriously than she did. “I believe you.”
There were still marks on her arm from the few random lashes Yin Man had just swung, and Yin Man touched that slightly raised area, her eyes turning red. “Does it hurt?”
Liu Siyin gently shook her head.
But how could it not hurt, after that whip.
“Aunt Zhang, go get the medicine.”
Hearing her order, everyone hurried into action.
Aunt Zhang and Aunt He had both been taking care of Yin Man for many years. They had followed her since her mother was still alive, taking care of her daily needs, carrying her up and down the stairs. By the time they were old, they could hardly carry Yin Man anymore, and when Yin Man flew into a temper, hitting people and smashing things were normal, and they still could not dodge. If they dodged, she would only escalate. That was not something people of advancing age could bear.
They had mentioned resigning several times as well, but Yin Man only had what she did not want, including people.
As long as she did not let them go, no one dared touch the bad luck.
However, Aunt Zhang and Aunt He had followed Yin Man for more than twenty years, watching her grow up, and they had also lived through the years when her temper was not this bad, so they had some feelings for her. They would even think that if her mother had not died, would things have been different. This was the first time since Yin Man’s mother passed away that they had seen her control her temper.
When applying medicine to Liu Siyin, Aunt He could not help saying, “Miss Liu, you really are our lucky star. The young lady’s temper is usually not something even the young master can control.”
Seeing that Yin Man only looked at Liu Siyin and did not say anything more, Aunt He also chimed in, “Just one word from you, and the young lady has no temper at all.”
“You really should have become the young lady’s wife earlier.”
Liu Siyin blushed with embarrassment. “Sister Man has always been a gentle person.”
It was as if she had seen through this body and into her soul.
