Yan Yang left with a carefree stride, not looking back once. By the time everyone snapped out of it, she was already out of the company, cardboard box in her arms.

Only then did someone finally think to notify the higher-ups, while the other employees who had witnessed the whole scene looked at Bai Ping with sympathetic eyes: "I think you're in for it."

Bai Ping's face was panicked: "I… how was I supposed to know she had skills like that! If she's that impressive, why the hell was she working as an admin?!"Full novel: After Saving the Yandere Villain, I Crashed and Burned — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The technicians, whose problem had already been solved and who now found themselves with nothing to do, retorted indignantly: "Maybe that's what they call 'true talent doesn't show itself.' Who told you to look down on people? And since when is it not allowed for someone to prefer keeping a low profile?!"

While the argument was still going on, Director Chen, having learned the full story, rushed over: "Where's Yan Yang?"

A technician replied: "She's gone…"

Director Chen pointed angrily at Bai Ping: "I'll deal with you later!"

Those words turned Bai Ping's face pale with fear, and she finally realized just how big a mess she had made…

Director Chen immediately set out to find Yan Yang, intending to invite her back. The algorithm issues with the company's floor-sweeping robots had been a long-standing problem, but the algorithm engineers they could afford to hire had never been able to perfectly resolve the persistent trouble.

Though he was also shocked to learn when Yan Yang had acquired such formidable skills, so many people had just witnessed how she solved the problem in such a short time. Unless someone had water in their brain, no one would want to foolishly let such a rare talent slip away…

…

Yan Yang drove her little compact car home, turned the lock, and stepped into the living room to see the man sitting there fiddling with a computer.

Feng Sixi was slightly hunched over. His black short-sleeved shirt wasn't tight-fitting, but it couldn't hide the beautiful lines of muscle across his shoulders and arms.

As he operated the computer, the veins on the back of his hands stood out in ridges, radiating a masculine, hormonal aura that permeated the small space—a silent seduction.

"Sixi."

Yan Yang called out softly, a flush blooming across her face into something even more exquisitely beautiful. At that moment, she could clearly hear the violent pounding of her own heart.

A man like this—untamed, dangerous, alluring.

She truly wanted to tame him…

Feng Sixi turned his head at the sound. His hair was slightly overgrown at the roots, but still short and black, as cold and hard as the man himself.

And those abyss-like pupils seemed to harbor a terrifying beast within. Yan Yang, fixed under that gaze, felt like prey whose fragile veins could be torn open at any moment.

But…

How did that saying go?

The most elite hunters often appear in the form of prey.

Yan Yang immediately smiled with pure innocence and harmlessness: "I just went to the company and quit. Where did you go?"

"To buy a computer."

Yan Yang was surprised: "You still have money?"

He spoke in a low, husky voice: "Helped them solve some urgent problems they needed fixed. Traded it for this computer."

"Wow, you're so amazing."

Yan Yang wore an expression of admiration and leaned in to see what Feng Sixi was doing on the computer—but the man quietly snapped the laptop shut.

Hah, guarding against her?

The smile in her eyes grew even richer, but what came out of her mouth was a complaint: "I'm officially unemployed starting today. And I drove all the way back by myself—my arm wound hurts so much…"

Feng Sixi narrowed his eyes: "Fired?"

"My boss said I hadn't come into the office for days and criticized me. I got angry and just quit on the spot."

"Oh."

The villainous dog didn't seem to have anything else to say, as if he couldn't care less about whether she became unemployed or not.

Cold-blooded. Ruthless. Cruel.

Yan Yang abruptly changed the subject: "You still owe four million on that high-interest loan. How do you plan to pay it back?"

"It'll get paid off somehow."

"Then could you share your money-making tricks with me? I want to make money too. Now that I'm out of a job, who knows how miserable my future will be. Just have a little pity on me…"

Feng Sixi said with a hint of meaning: "You know I've been mining cryptocurrency. You could give it a try too."

Yan Yang's eyes went wide like a fawn's: "But I don't know how to play! I heard it's super complicated, and it takes years just to mine a single coin."

"You're right, it does take years." Feng Sixi played along with her words. "I can't mine one out either."

"Then how do you…"

Feng Sixi looked at Yan Yang with a deep, heavy gaze, his tone growing more pregnant with meaning: "There's always a way to pay back that four million."

Yan Yang's heart trembled.

The arch-villain knew exactly what she was scheming, yet he didn't call her out directly. He wanted to play a game of cat and mouse with her.

Fine then. Let's see who can hold out longer.

Just then, the doorbell suddenly rang.

Yan Yang saw Director Chen standing outside the door and asked slowly: "Why are you here at this hour?"

Director Chen rubbed his hands together, looking actually a bit nervous: "Yan Yang, I'm here to discuss your algorithm fusion work, and that direction you mentioned about future sensor fusion… Could you sell those technologies to us? Or if you'd be willing to come back to the company, that works too—everything is negotiable."

This was a matter of vital importance to the company's future development, and Director Chen truly couldn't afford to treat it lightly.

Yan Yang didn't rush to answer, watching him in silence.

Director Chen quickly added: "I know you had a bit of a conflict with Bai Ping at the company today. Don't worry, I've already ordered HR to let her go. And any requirements you have, you can put them on the table—we can talk it out… Just consider that I've looked after you in the past, and give us a chance, won't you?"

In this day and age, whoever holds the core technology is the boss.

Director Chen's biggest fear right now was that Yan Yang would sell the technology to their competitors, in which case their losses would be incalculable.

"I can sell it to you. Four million, take it or leave it."

Yan Yang felt this number was quite sincere.

Director Chen was overjoyed, as expected: "Wonderful! Thank you…"

He had braced himself for Yan Yang to name an astronomical price, but never expected her to be so easy to deal with.

"Come find me once the contract is ready."

Yan Yang saw him out with cool detachment. As she turned around and found Feng Sixi staring at her with a probing gaze, she immediately curved her lips into a smile: "Helped the company solve a little problem before leaving. Who knew it would be worth so much?"

She added: "And conveniently, that four million can help pay off your loan. Sixi, don't you dare be polite with me!"

This kind of coincidence was obviously suspicious. Feng Sixi knew that Yan Yang was doing all this for one purpose—to keep him here and entangle herself further with him.

He had also made up his mind: the moment Yan Yang recovered from her injuries, he would leave immediately. So refusing her now would be the most sensible choice.

He understood all of that.

It was just that his fingertips still seemed to retain the porcelain-smooth, delicate texture of her skin, and that searing warmth that could burn.

And the storm of emotions she hid deep in her heart when she called him "Sixi" so intimately and sweetly.

When she spoke, the answer she had once been so certain of turned into: "I'll write you an IOU."

Yan Yang's eyes sparkled brightly as she said sheepishly, "No need for an IOU—just sign a contract of indenture or a sugar baby agreement!"

Feng Sixi: "…"

Yan Yang: "…"

Oops, she'd accidentally blurted out what was on her mind.
