Yan Yang watched Feng Sixi get choked up by her words and smiled smugly. "Since you have no other objections, we'll do it my way."
She turned to the two stunned people with a raised brow. "So? If you've thought it over, print out another contract. If you haven't, then Sixi and I will be on our way… As for whether I'll join some other department tomorrow, that's hard to say. After all, with skills as impressive as mine… who wouldn't be fighting to have me?"
So arrogant!
Yet the boldness in her eyes came from sheer capability—she had every right to be cocky.
Ye Ming quickly nudged his boss's arm with his elbow and lowered his voice. "Boss, you really need to think this through. Our department can't afford to lose her!"
He added quietly, "Don't forget this year's performance review for the Neighborhood Offices across the region. We're at the bottom right now. With her on board, we could land some major deals!"
Rong Xiao shot him a fierce glare. "What are you talking about? Who do you think you are!"
Ye Ming gave an awkward laugh. "Sorry, boss, got a little carried away. But the point stands—rough words, solid truth. If you don't act fast, what if she really leaves?"
Ye Ming, with all his genius-level pride, showed not a trace of arrogance in front of Yan Yang. He had fully conceded, honestly admitting that his skills didn't measure up to hers.
Rong Xiao knew very well how hard it was to make this gifted young man yield, and he couldn't help but feel tempted.
After a moment of silence, seeing that Yan Yang was about to leave, he finally let out a long sigh and called out, "Miss Yan, pleasure doing business."
Yan Yang's eyes sparkled like stars. "Pleasure doing business, Boss Rong!"
She reached out and tugged at Feng Sixi's sleeve. "So? Satisfied?"
Feng Sixi's expression remained cold. "If I said I wasn't, would anyone listen to me?"
Yan Yang gave a sheepish smile. "Of course not."
At this point, Feng Sixi could no longer make sense of where things were heading, and he grew even more puzzled about Yan Yang's true intentions. The only way forward was to stay and uncover the truth.
His scrutinizing gaze swept over Yan Yang's rose-like, radiant face, and he sneered inwardly. Whatever she was plotting, he would see it through to the end.
Under Yan Yang's strong insistence, Feng Sixi's treatment was on par with hers, though since his criminal record had yet to be cleared, he could only be considered a cooperating member of the Neighborhood Office.
After the contract was signed, Yan Yang readily confirmed she would officially start work there tomorrow, and said to Rong Xiao with full confidence, "You'll thank yourself for this decision. I'm off now—see you tomorrow."
Once they stepped out of the Neighborhood Office, Yan Yang patted her chest and said, "I'm in a good mood today—let me treat you to a meal."
Feng Sixi let her do as she pleased, offering no objection.
Yan Yang quickly found a highly rated restaurant, and the prices were just as steep. Say what you will, but the food on this remote planet was something Yan Yang genuinely loved.
On the way to the restaurant, the signed contract lay at Feng Sixi's side. He had hesitated for a moment before signing, but in the end, he couldn't resist Yan Yang's coercion and persuasion.
He kept telling himself that he was only doing this to see through Yan Yang's intentions—nothing more.
The restaurant Yan Yang had chosen was located in the most bustling area of the capital. The cars parked at the entrance were almost all luxury vehicles worth over a million, so when her little pink compact electric car pulled up at the door, the valet immediately came over to shoo her away.
"Excuse me, miss, but if you're not dining here, you can't park in this spot. This is our exclusive parking area."
Yan Yang rested her elbow on the car window and gave a faint smile. "Who said I'm not dining here?"
The valet's gaze swept back and forth between Yan Yang and her car, looking particularly conflicted—he probably couldn't believe that someone who could afford to dine at a place with a per-person price tag in the thousands would drive such a vehicle.
Until Feng Sixi in the passenger seat furrowed his brow impatiently. "Don't waste our time."
The moment he spoke, his menacing tone carried a powerful sense of intimidation that made the valet tremble all over, utterly lacking the nerve to keep stalling. "My apologies! I'll arrange parking for you both right away!"
Yan Yang shot Feng Sixi an approving wink. When it came down to it, a show of force was more effective.
The patrons who came to this French restaurant were all formally dressed, understated yet luxurious. Feng Sixi and Yan Yang stood out as out of place here.
Feng Sixi wore black from head to toe, his hair cropped short, his cold, sharp features silently radiating a "stay away" aura. Yan Yang, though her features were stunningly beautiful—a first-rate beauty by any standard—was dressed quite casually, making her look like she didn't belong among the clientele here.
When the pair appeared in the restaurant, they immediately drew sidelong glances from the waitstaff and other diners alike. Clearly, scenes like this were a rare sight.
Fortunately, the waitstaff here were well-trained and composed their expressions in the shortest possible time before ushering them to their seats.
"May I help introduce the menu for you both?"
Yan Yang looked at Feng Sixi, who said coldly, "No need."
He very adeptly began ordering from the appetizers onward, with extremely refined pairings, even adding a pre-meal champagne—subtly revealing his extensive knowledge of Western cuisine and dining experience.
Only then did the waiter's expression turn serious.
Yan Yang smiled softly. After all, Feng Sixi had been born into a distinguished noble family. Before being abducted and sold, he had lived a privileged life, and after being brought back to the Feng family, he had continued to receive the most elite education. It was just a pity that the beautiful life he should have had was gradually destroyed, leaving him as he was now.
In the elegant dining atmosphere, Yan Yang suddenly felt curious and asked, "How long has it been since you last contacted the Feng family?"
Feng Sixi lifted his thin eyelids, and the look he gave Yan Yang was extremely dangerous.
She remained as if she hadn't noticed, her gaze clear, pure, and bright. "If you don't want to talk about it, that's fine. I just want to understand you a little better."
"With your abilities, investigating all my information would be effortless."
Feng Sixi seemed to be mocking her.
"How could that be the same? What you tell me yourself will always be different from what I find out on my own. If you're willing to speak, that proves you're willing to share your story with me—it's a sign that you're starting to trust me."
Yan Yang was utterly candid, not hiding her goal of wanting to know more about him and earn his trust.
Feng Sixi's tone was deep. "And if I trust you, then what?"
Then she could be like those who had betrayed him before—using him, kicking him into the abyss.
All those who had betrayed him, including this world itself, deserved to die.
In his eyes, a maddening thought quietly took root.
"Then I'd have the chance to become the most important person to you—I want to be special."
Yan Yang smiled, his voice clear and warm, like a beam of light cutting through the gloom.
