Feng Sixi cast a sidelong glance at Yan Yang, his eyes utterly frigid, the terrifying cruelty within them so dense it nearly materialized into something tangible.

Clearly, what had provoked his fury was not Yan Yang's injury, but the memories of being framed and slandered in the past.

Yan Yang winced at the pain from the wound on her arm, cursing inwardly even as a glistening sheen rose in her eyes.

The corners of her downturned eyes flushed red, looking utterly pitiful, and her pale lips made her seem as though she might collapse at any moment.

As if she could barely hold on another second.

Yan Yang's slightly cool fingertips brushed deliberately—yet seemingly idly—against the skin of the man's wrist, her lashes trembling as she spoke in a frail voice: "Mr. Feng… I… I feel dizzy…"

Fainting from blood loss should be within reason, right?

No sooner had the thought flashed through her mind than Yan Yang collapsed into the man's arms with impeccable timing.

Not far away, the wail of police sirens had already begun to sound.

Liu Shi and Lu Fang's faces grew even more terrified. The words they had just confessed were enough to land them in prison, let alone with such a menacing devil standing before them…

Feng Sixi caught Yan Yang's body with his hand, keeping her from falling to the ground.

Then he looked at the obvious gash on her arm, and the malevolence that had clouded his brow shifted into something deeper…

Resignation.

Feng Sixi cast a dismissive glance at the couple, then without a word, swept Yan Yang up in his arms and turned to leave.

By the time the police arrived, only their trembling figures remained in the courtyard, the weapon that had caused the injury still lying on the ground.

"We've received a report that you're connected to a case of intentional injury from three years ago. Please come with us…"

…

Feng Sixi took Yan Yang to the nearest hospital, where the wound on her arm was cleaned and bandaged.

Throughout the entire treatment, Feng Sixi's face was clouded with a cold, oppressive darkness, so much so that the doctors and nurses began to wonder whether he was the patient's family member or the perpetrator…

The wound on Yan Yang's arm was rather deep, and after receiving stitches, she needed to remain in the hospital for observation for a day.

When she woke up, she was lying in the hospital bed, the wound throbbing faintly. She furrowed her brow briefly before quickly returning to a calm expression.

Earlier, in that courtyard, she had genuinely fainted—no matter how resolute her will, it couldn't withstand the fragility of this body.

Yan Yang could vaguely recall certain images: after Feng Sixi had brought her to the hospital, he had been running around handling various procedures on her behalf.

Hmph… this arch-villain isn't completely rotten after all.

But then again, if his life hadn't been so bitter and miserable, he wouldn't have ended up in such a state.

She turned her head gently and saw the man sitting in the chair, eyes closed, dozing.

Feng Sixi's head was lowered, a ring of stubble having sprouted around his lips, lending him an unexpectedly more alluring quality.

At this moment, he was in a harmless state, like a docile big cat…

But the moment this man extended his claws, he would tear apart anyone who dared approach him.

Just as Yan Yang began to sit up, Feng Sixi abruptly lifted his head, fixing his gaze on her—his eyes indeed as startling as a jackal's.

Such keen, reflexive alertness could only be honed by living in constant danger, which showed just how difficult his past days had been.

"Mr. Feng." Yan Yang forced a smile. "Thank you for going out of your way to bring me to the hospital."

Feng Sixi sneered coldly, "If you died, I'd look more like a suspect than that couple."

"How could that be? Mr. Feng, you're such a good person… You were framed by them before and wrongly imprisoned. I've already obtained evidence of their framing you, and I'll hand it to the police shortly."

Feng Sixi's fingertips lightly tapped against his thigh, once. "I've already given it to them."

"Huh?"

"While you were unconscious, the police came by and asked about the situation. I handed them the recording pen from your coat pocket."

"But that recording…"

"I've already deleted the parts that needed to be deleted."

Yan Yang let out a sigh of relief. "That's good. Otherwise, if the police found out about the methods I used, the validity of that evidence would definitely be greatly compromised."

"Yan Yang."

Feng Sixi studied her. "Why did you do this?"

Yan Yang blurted out, "It's to thank you. A few years ago, you saved me—I owe you my life. Otherwise, I wouldn't have had the chance to do this now."

"Is that so."

The faint curve at the corner of Feng Sixi's lips was even more laced with mockery, and Yan Yang couldn't help but bite her lip.

Why did this feel so off?

By all logic, her reasoning shouldn't have been a problem…

Unable to figure it out, Yan Yang simply stopped thinking about it.

Although Feng Sixi's indifferent tone made it impossible to discern his true emotions, Yan Yang knew very well that this man was definitely harboring all sorts of suspicions right now.

Such a small matter wouldn't be enough to lower his guard.

But that was fine—she had plenty of patience.

After waking up, Yan Yang showed no signs of fever, so she was essentially ready to be discharged. As the key witness who had reported that couple, she still needed to go to the police station to give a statement.

Yan Yang specifically asked Feng Sixi to drive her.

"Mr. Feng, I'll leave it to you to drive my little cutie to take me?"

Feng Sixi: "…"

He'd already driven it on the way to the hospital.

A man nearly six feet tall driving Yan Yang's pink mini car—the scene was absolutely spectacular.

Yan Yang sat in the passenger seat, struggling to suppress the smile tugging at the corners of her mouth.

She didn't want to laugh, but the contrast was just too incongruous—yet within that oddity was a hint of something endearing.

As for Feng Sixi's sharply defined profile, his jaw clenched tight, radiating masculinity while also exuding an unmistakable air of "don't mess with me."

In short, she absolutely adored this sight.

So she couldn't help herself—using her still-intact left hand, she fished out her phone and aimed it at him, snapping a few photos.

Feng Sixi didn't even turn his head, his tone icy. "Delete them."

"No." Yan Yang refused without hesitation. "Mr. Feng, you're so handsome—surely taking a few photos of you isn't a problem?"

"If you don't want me to resort to force to make you delete those photos, then do it yourself, obediently."

Yan Yang put on an adorable, endearing expression. "Can I keep them as a memento? Mr. Feng, if one day you leave and I can't find you, I'll need something to remember you by, right?"

Just then, the light ahead turned red. Feng Sixi pressed the brake, then turned his head, his gaze cool. "Yan Yang, don't test my limits."

Yan Yang deliberately dragged out her words. "And what are Mr. Feng's limits?"

"Today's matter ends here—we're even." Feng Sixi suddenly answered off-topic. "After I take you home, I'll be leaving."

Yan Yang narrowed her eyes, her gaze landing on the man's cold, indifferent profile.

Tsk… Even? Did he think it would be that easy?

Feng Sixi, you've underestimated me, Yan Yang, far too much.
