Chi Mu was completely opposed to going to work. It didn’t matter whether she was starting from the bottom or being offered the top position—she refused outright.

She had zero interest in working and clung stubbornly to her mother’s legs.

The sound of a wheelchair approached, and Chi Xi stopped beside Shi Ya. Chi Mu buried her face in Shi Ya’s lap, wailing loudly, “Mom! I was wrong!”

The more she screamed, the happier Shi Ya became. She stroked the back of Chi Mu’s head and said, “This matter is already decided. I can’t override it—you’ll have to discuss it with Xiao Xi.”

“Mom!” Chi Mu refused.

“Enough. My beauty sleep time is up,” Shi Ya tugged at her ponytail. “Move aside. Don’t hold me up.”

Chi Mu couldn’t defy her mother and reluctantly let go, only to see Chi Xi staring directly at her.

Chi Mu immediately stood up and bolted.

“Stop!” Chi Xi called after her.

Chi Mu didn’t slow down. Hearing her call, she ran even faster—stopping was impossible, negotiating with Chi Xi was out of the question.

But having legs meant she was the one who had to go to work at Chi Xi’s company? Absolutely not!

She refused. What could they do to her?

Chi Mu was naïve to think it would be that simple. The next morning, while she was still blissfully asleep, her father’s call woke her.

“You’re supposed to be at Morse by 9 a.m. You’re already thirty minutes late. I’ll give you another thirty minutes. If you’re not at Morse on time by 10, all your cars will be confiscated.”

A few light words, but they instantly wiped away her sleepiness. She dressed as fast as she could, didn’t even tie her hair, and sped toward Morse.

Morse was a jewelry company under the Chi family. Four years ago, her father had gifted it to Chi Mu on her 25th birthday. Now, Chi Mu’s twin sister, Chi Xi managed it as the general manager.

And Chi Mu—the useless older sister—was about to endure everyone’s ridicule.

Parking beneath the company, Chi Mu realized it was her first time at Morse. She relied entirely on GPS to find a spot. Morse Jewelry was an eight-story building; it looked small from outside, but inside, it was spacious.

The first-floor lobby was dominated by a giant poster of Morse’s ambassador, Qiao Li, showcasing earrings, necklaces, and rings—all from Morse.

Chi Mu froze at the card reader.

“Do you have an appointment?” the security guard asked.

“No,” she replied.

“Then you’ll need to call someone inside. Otherwise, I can’t let you in.”

Quite diligent.

Chi Mu removed her sunglasses. “I’m here to start work.”

Her words trailed off. The guard’s eyes widened, scanning from her face down to her legs—Chi Mu was wearing shorts, revealing long, straight legs.

“President Chi.” the guard exclaimed.

“I’m not Chi Xi,” Chi Mu said. “Could you move, please?”

The guard, still stunned, swiped his key card and stepped aside.

“Thanks.” Chi Mu put her sunglasses back on and walked in. She paused, turned back, and asked, “Which floor is Chi Xi’s office?”

The guard, dumbfounded, held up eight fingers.

Chi Mu took the elevator to the eighth floor. Exiting, she bumped shoulders with a girl entering the elevator.

“Sorry, sorry,” the girl said, looking up. “Chi Mu?”

It was Lin Xiaoyou, Chi Xi’s assistant—and the only person Chi Mu knew who worked with Chi Xi, having met her a few times at the Chi household retrieving files.

“The guard just called me, saying an Alpha identical to President Chi had arrived,” Lin Xiaoyou said, exiting the elevator. “I knew it had to be you. The president asked me to pick you up—let’s go.”

Chi Mu followed Lin Xiaoyou down a long corridor lined with glass display cases filled with jewelry.

Diamonds on the left, jade on the right. Though Chi Mu didn’t understand the production process, she’d bought plenty of jewelry herself. The pieces in the display cases looked roughly like semi-finished products.

The office was in the middle of the corridor. Lin Xiaoyou knocked and pushed the door open.

“Please.”

Chi Mu stepped in, and Lin Xiaoyou closed the door behind her. The office was spacious: half was Chi Xi’s workspace, and the other half was covered with various design sketches.

Each sketch had a corresponding sample displayed beside it—an impressive array.

Chi Xi sat behind her desk, pointing to the chair opposite. “Sit.”

Chi Mu slouched into the chair and crossed her legs.

“Design, marketing, store sales,” Chi Xi tossed her a work badge. “Pick a department.”

The badge had Chi Mu’s two-inch photo, name, and age. The department and position were blank.

“I don’t know anything,” Chi Mu said, clearly uncooperative.

“You’ll have guidance,” Chi Xi said. “Pick one you like.”

“I don’t like any of them,” Chi Mu replied, still resistant.

“Fine, I’ll choose for you.” Chi Xi took the badge, wrote something on it, and tossed it back.

Design Department · Apprentice.

“I don’t know anything about design,” Chi Mu said, pressing her finger on the badge and pushing it back.

“I gave you a choice and you didn’t pick,” Chi Xi said, returning the badge. “Take it to Lin Xiaoyou; she’ll take you to the design department.”

Chi Mu removed her sunglasses and stared at Chi Xi. “I’m telling you now: I won’t like this job, I have no interest, and I don’t expect to produce any results. I don’t know how long I’ll last either.”

She grabbed the badge and left.

“Chi Mu,” Chi Xi said, “what you do outside is your business. But at Morse, you share my face. I don’t want you to embarrass me.”

Chi Mu paused but said nothing.

“Oh, and remember to dress normally for work tomorrow. That outfit you wore outside? Leave it there.”

Glancing at herself, Chi Mu realized she’d just grabbed something from her closet in a hurry: denim shorts and a bluish tank top. She ignored it and walked out.

Chi Mu never took Chi Xi’s opinions seriously.

Lin Xiaoyou led her to the fourth-floor design department, which was stylishly decorated with transparent offices, bright colors, and artistic décor.

Chi Mu immediately drew everyone’s attention.

“This is our new apprentice, Chi Mu,” Lin Xiaoyou introduced. “Team Leader Han, please take care of her.”

A Beta woman holding a design sheet looked stunned, then nodded slowly. “Ah, it’s my honor. May I ask, is she the president?”

Lin Xiaoyou smiled. “Just as you think. Alright, you all get back to work—I have other things to do.”

After Lin Xiaoyou left, the department colleagues swarmed around Chi Mu.

Chi Mu’s sensitive aesthetic radar immediately activated. Well, this department had plenty of attractive people—work might not be so boring after all.

“You’re twins with President Chi?”

“First, I’ve heard she has a twin sister. So mysterious.”

“You two look alike.”

“Who’s older, you or President Chi?”

Chi Xi, Chi Xi, it was all Chi Xi. Impatient, Chi Mu picked up her work badge and tapped on the words Apprentice. “She’s the CEO, so of course she outranks me.”

“Oh, I wasn’t asking about the position. I meant, which one of you is the older sister?”

“Just four minutes apart. Doesn’t matter,” Chi Mu said, glancing at Team Leader Han. “Where’s my desk?”

Team Leader Han smiled warmly and gestured. “Over here. One of the desks opened up last week because someone resigned.”

The team office had six people in total, with three desks facing each other. Han pointed to the middle seat of one of the three-person desks.

“Or you can see which one you prefer,” Han said. “You can switch if you want.”

“This one,” Chi Mu said, taking the seat. “No need to go out of your way for me.”

She was just wary that in a few days, once they realized she was completely clueless, all that attention would turn to disdain.

As soon as she sat down, the other team members also settled at their desks, all curious about her.

“Chi Mu.” An Alpha sitting across from her stood up, examining her badge. “Your name is so close to President Chi’s. So, how should we address you? Little President Chi?”

Chi Mu opened her computer. “Just Chi Mu is fine.”

Everyone lingered, still shocked about her connection to Chi Xi. Chi Mu was easygoing by nature, but she didn’t want to acknowledge anything related to Chi Xi.

“Aren’t you busy?” she asked.

Everyone laughed and dispersed. Leaning back in her chair, Chi Mu yawned repeatedly, still unsure why her mother, father, and Chi Xi wanted her to attend this meaningless job.

Was it to keep her from wandering off and causing trouble? Or did they genuinely want her to build a career?

Either way, it was impossible for Chi Mu. She felt dizzy just looking at the design plans.

“Chi Mu.”

Team Leader Han patted her shoulder. “Come with me to my office for a moment.”

“Oh,” Chi Mu replied, following her into a small private office nearby.

“Sit down. Want something to drink?”

Chi Mu settled on the small sofa. “Nothing, thanks.”

“I’ll just get you some warm water.” Han poured some into a disposable cup and set it in front of her, then sat beside her.

“What’s the matter?” Chi Mu crossed her legs.

“I just wanted to ask—have you done any design work before?”

“No.”

“Oh?” Han smiled, studying her. “Then, did you study design?”

“Nope.”

“Ah?” Han froze for a moment. “So, you just have a natural interest or talent in this area?”

Han was cautiously probing, but Chi Mu wanted to laugh. She patted Han on the shoulder. “Don’t be so formal. And don’t lump me in with Chi Xi, President Chi. She’s her, I’m me. I’m not as capable as she is—I don’t know anything, I can’t do anything, I’m not interested in design. To be honest, I’m here at work because I was forced. If you have any low-skill tasks, I can handle them, but anything else and I’ll only mess it up.”

Han looked skeptical but maintained her smile. “You don’t need to be so modest.”

“This is what this is,” Chi Mu said, pointing to the words Apprentice on her badge. “I’m not being modest.”

Han’s smile faltered. Chi Mu stood, smiling as she left.

Her first day at work was fairly comfortable—she spent most of it napping at her desk. Probably because of her connection to the Chi Xi, no one bothered her.

Not bad. Chi Mu thought that if she napped a few more days in the office, she’d probably get fired anyway.

When the day ended, Chi Mu was the first to leave. She had been cooped up all day and was ready to go out for a few drinks tonight!

A gray Lamborghini SUV pulled in front of her car, blocking her way.

It was Chi Xi’s car.

The rear window slowly rolled down, and Chi Xi appeared. “Get in.”

“I’ll drive myself,” Chi Mu said, shaking her keys.

“I need to talk to you,” Chi Xi said.

“Wait until tonight at home,” Chi Mu replied, driving around Chi Xi’s car. “I don’t have time right now.”

She got into her car, but Chi Xi’s SUV blocked her path. Chi Mu couldn’t leave.

The two cars were at a standstill. Reluctantly, Chi Mu got out and took the passenger seat in Chi Xi’s car.

“Speak quickly.”

“Drive,” Chi Xi instructed the driver.

As the car moved, Chi Mu reclined slightly, adjusting the seat. “If you have something to say, say it fast. I still have plans tonight.”

“Father said we’ll have dinner at home tonight,” Chi Xi said calmly.

“That’s it?”

“You slept all day at the office?”

Chi Mu closed her eyes, not responding. Chi Xi’s question confirmed she already knew everything, so Chi Mu didn’t want to say another word.

“Take a look at this.” Chi Xi brushed something lightly against Chi Mu’s arm. She turned her head to see a document and glanced at it.

Work Plan.

Just seeing the cover was enough for her to toss it back. “Plans? I’m not looking at it.”

As she threw it, a sudden pain struck her head.

That familiar pain.

Chi Mu shot upright. Could it be?

She watched in disbelief as the street in front of her turned into the face of a girl. The scent that belonged to Chi Xi and the driver vanished instantly.

She looked around. The familiar skeletal charts, the single wardrobe. This—this was Nie Yijun’s office.

She had entered Nie Yijun’s body again.
