The body holding Lin Suisui suddenly stiffened.

Right before her eyes, Hei Yun wrapped her tightly in the little blanket and quickly turned around to leave, looking like someone who had done something wrong and was trying to cover it up.

Ge Sang laughed in irritation.

This guy was actually ignoring him?

Just because he had higher combat power, did he think he could do whatever he wanted?

Compete in strength?

Fine, Ge Sang admitted he couldn’t win.

But running?

Did Hei Yun seriously think he could outrun him?

Moving like lightning, Ge Sang quickly caught up to the person pretending to be deaf.

“Why are you running, huh?”

A powerful hand grabbed Hei Yun’s shoulder.

Odd.

The guy hadn’t immediately turned around and punched him.

That alone made Ge Sang suspicious.

Even when Ge Sang stopped him and demanded an explanation, Hei Yun still tried one final excuse.

“I didn’t hear you.”

Ge Sang sneered.

Didn’t hear him?

A man who could accurately detect the sound of a single leaf falling was claiming he hadn’t heard him?

That was the funniest joke Ge Sang had heard all year.

His gaze soon landed on Hei Yun’s arms.

“What’s that?”

Hei Yun pressed his lips together.

The man’s face remained expressionless, but his entire body radiated reluctance.

The moment Ge Sang asked, Hei Yun quietly moved Lin Suisui behind him.

Now Ge Sang was genuinely curious.

He absolutely had to see what Hei Yun was hiding.

“What? Hiding some treasure that I can’t even look at?”

Inside the blanket, Lin Suisui listened to their conversation.

Did that uncle know Daddy?

Judging by what they were saying, they didn’t seem to be enemies.

Just as a hand was about to touch the blanket, a fluffy little head poked out.

Without any warning, a black-haired little hatchling who looked like an angel appeared before Ge Sang.

“Hello, Uncle.”

Lin Suisui greeted him with a smile.

Ge Sang froze.

His outstretched arm remained suspended in midair.

The sandstorm today must be really bad.

It had gotten into his eyes and made him hallucinate.

Otherwise, why would he see a hatchling here?

Lin Suisui blinked and waved her tiny hand.

She couldn’t understand why the uncle had suddenly stopped moving.

“Uncle?”

One second.

Two seconds.

Ten seconds.

Nothing changed.

The little hatchling tilted her head and stared at him.

She moved.

Which meant she wasn’t a hallucination.

…

…

…

“You actually kidnapped a hatchling?!”

An incredulous roar echoed through the area.

Outside the tightly closed room, a crowd of tall, muscular men squeezed together, stretching their necks to peek inside.

“Did you hear? Boss Hei kidnapped a hatchling.”

“Stop talking nonsense. He clearly picked her up.”

“How is that possible? Hatchling birth rates have been dropping every year for decades. This year, fewer than ten thousand hatchlings were born in total. Whenever a hatchling is born in Central City, they practically announce it to the entire planet and guard them like priceless treasures. How could one end up in the slums? Boss Hei definitely kidnapped her.”

“So she’s really a hatchling? What do hatchlings even look like? Are they really that small?”

Inside the room, however, the atmosphere was completely different from the excitement outside.

A strange tension filled the air.

Lin Suisui nervously clenched her little fists and pressed herself tightly against Hei Yun.

Ge Sang’s breathing faltered.

After calming himself, he spoke.

“You…”

Before he could continue, Hei Yun shot him a warning glare.

Ge Sang glared back without hesitation.

What was he looking at?

As if Ge Sang were some kinds of vicious criminal.

“Hei Yun, is this really a hatchling you found and not one you stole?”

“Do you know that stealing a hatchling is illegal? It’s outright banditry.”

“Boss, but we are bandits.”

Standing nearby, Cheng Fifteen quietly added.

Ge Sang immediately shot him a vicious glare.

“Shut up.”

“If you can’t speak properly, don’t speak at all.”

Cheng Fifteen obediently stepped back.

Even now, he couldn’t believe they were seeing a hatchling in the slums.

If the Hatchling Association in Central City found out, they would probably lose their minds.

And not just any hatchling.

Ge Sang frowned as he looked at Lin Suisui.

He had never seen such a fragile hatchling before.

With her black hair and tiny, soft appearance, she was completely different from the destructive little monsters he had encountered before.

After genetic enhancement, even newborn hatchlings possessed tremendous attack power.

A single careless moment could leave an adult’s skin torn open by their claws.

But this one…

The more Ge Sang looked, the deeper his frown became.

No sharp claws.

No destructive power.

Just a tiny little thing leaning innocently against Hei Yun.

Forget a punch.

He could probably crush her with two fingers.

The slums were far too dangerous for her.

Ge Sang felt increasingly troubled.

“Didn’t steal.”

Hei Yun spoke firmly.

“I found her. She’s mine.”

Like an overprotective father guarding his child, Hei Yun shielded Lin Suisui behind him and watched Ge Sang with extreme vigilance.

He looked as though he feared someone would snatch her away at any moment.

Lin Suisui sensed Daddy’s nervousness.

She tightly held one of his fingers, trying her best to comfort him.

“Daddy, Suisui is here.”

Although they had only spent two days together, a strange instinct told her that Hei Yun would never hurt her.

Tsk.

Ge Sang looked away irritably.

How was that idiot giant so lucky?

Maybe fools really were blessed.

He had somehow picked up such a soft, adorable little hatchling.

Ge Sang wanted to hear her call him Daddy too.

“You said your name is… Suisui?”

Lin Suisui blinked her watery eyes.

“Yes, Uncle Ge. My name is Lin Suisui.”

Even her voice was soft and sweet.

She called me Uncle.

She’s so cute.

Damn it.

How could anyone abandon a hatchling?

Since entering the room, she had sat there quietly the entire time.

Was she bored?

She looked only three or four years old.

What did hatchlings that age like?

That idiot Hei Yun must have taken all those red fruits for her.

And he hadn’t told anyone.

He secretly raised a hatchling by himself for so long.

What if something had happened during that time?

Looking at the little hatchling, who resembled a soft glutinous rice dumpling, Ge Sang couldn’t help feeling protective.

In a brief instant, countless thoughts flashed through his mind.

“Uncle…”

Lin Suisui looked at Ge Sang, who had been staring at her in a daze.

“Ahem…”

Ge Sang cleared his throat.

“Cheng Fifteen.”

“Here!”

“Prepare a place for the hatchling to stay.”

After a pause, he changed his mind.

“Forget it. Clear out the room on the west side.”

Cheng Fifteen was stunned.

The room on the west side?

Others might not know, but he certainly did.

That house was Ge Sang’s secret retirement home.

Everything inside had been built with the best materials available.

Still, he secretly glanced at Lin Suisui.

If it were such a cute, angelic hatchling, he would gladly hand over all his possessions too.

“Hei Yun, come outside for a moment.”

No response.

“Hei Yun!”

Ge Sang raised his voice and called again.

Still nothing.

Lin Suisui struggled not to laugh as she watched Daddy covering his ears with both hands.

If he covered his ears, he couldn’t hear anything.

And if he couldn’t hear anything, he wouldn’t have to leave the hatchling.

Amused, Lin Suisui patted Hei Yun.

“It’s okay, Daddy. Go take care of your business. Uncle Cheng will stay with me.”

Leaning closer, she whispered secretly into Hei Yun’s ear.

“Come back quickly. Suisui will wait for you.”

Cheng Fifteen, who had just been promoted to “Uncle Cheng,” secretly grinned to himself.

After Lin Suisui coaxed him for a while longer, Hei Yun finally stood up unwillingly.

He left only after turning back every few steps.

Looking displeased at the person separating him from the hatchling, he muttered,

“Only for a little while. Then come back.”

Tsk. This brat.

Ge Sang rolled his eyes and shoved the door open.

Bang!
