“Little Suisui, did you come out with Heiyun again today?”

“Yes, Grandma Kong.”

Lin Suisui happily greeted Grandma Kong.Full novel: After the Apocalypse, I Became Blue Star’s Beloved Little Cub — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Today, she was wearing a red dress. When she smiled, she looked like the only sunflower in the desert world.

Such an adorable little cub.

Grandma Kong could not stop feeling delighted.

But when she looked at the large figure standing beside her like a door guardian, she couldn’t help but worry.

She wondered if those rough men who only had fighting in their heads could really take good care of the little cub.

“Little Suisui, come here quickly. Grandma saved some milk for you.”

Lin Suisui helplessly said, “Grandma, you should drink the milk yourself.”

Milk was a rare thing in the slums. The only family in the entire slums that had milk was Grandma Kong’s.

“I have red fruits.”

“That won’t do. Little cubs need to drink more milk so they can grow taller.”

“You’re still standing there? Come over here.”

“If you don’t drink it, Grandma will get angry.”

Grandma Kong pretended to be sad and covered her face with her sleeve.

“Grandma Kong, don’t be sad. Suisui will drink.”

She knew Grandma Kong was only pretending, but the little cub couldn’t bear to expose her.

Heiyun dutifully carried Lin Suisui over.

Under Grandma Kong’s satisfied gaze, Lin Suisui finished a cup of milk and let out a small burp.

She touched her belly.

Her little stomach was already round and full.

“Grandma Kong, this is for you.”

It was a pink butterfly flower.

Grandma Kong quickly waved her hands.

“This is too precious. You shouldn’t give it to me. It probably wasn’t easy for Heiyun to pick these either. Suisui, you can take them to the market and sell them. This old woman doesn’t really have any use for them.”

“Taking them would only be a waste.”

Lin Suisui firmly placed the flower into Grandma Kong’s hands.

“How could it be a waste? Beautiful flowers can make people feel happy even if they are just placed there.”

“The pink butterfly flower is beautiful. Grandma Kong gave Suisui milk and was kind to Suisui, so Suisui also wants to share beautiful flowers with Grandma Kong.”

Lin Suisui continued:

“I already asked Dad about these flowers. Dad said I can do whatever I want with them.”

She already knew she was not Heiyun’s biological child, but she was still used to calling Heiyun “Dad.”

Heiyun nodded.

That was right.

Anything he gave the little cub belonged to her. If she didn’t like it, she could even throw it away.

However, he couldn’t help but emphasize:

“No, it wasn’t difficult.”

Picking those flowers was as easy as lifting his hand.

“Besides…” Lin Suisui said, “Even the most precious things are useless if they don’t show their value.”

“Grandma Kong, do you like it?”

The little cub spoke every word with sincerity, and a warm feeling passed through Grandma Kong’s heart.

How could there be such a lovable little cub?

Grandma Kong answered:

“I like it.”

Lin Suisui’s eyes curved into a smile.

“Then it has already shown its greatest value.”

Under the sunlight, the little cub seemed to be glowing.

“What an adorable little thing.”

Grandma Kong rubbed Lin Suisui’s fluffy little head for a long time.

Lin Suisui obediently let her pat and rub her hair.

Her round little eyes glanced to the side, and she saw something familiar.

“Grandma, what is that?”

Grandma Kong followed her gaze.

“That is a wool stick. It’s full of fluff inside. It doesn’t taste good.”

Wool stick?

Why did it look a little like corn?

After coming to this place, besides milk and red fruits, the thing Lin Suisui ate the most was the small meat strips Cheng Fifteen specially made for her.

Ordinary meat was too tough, and Lin Suisui couldn’t bite through it.

So, Cheng Fifteen specially cut the meat into small strips suitable for her, then cooked them into meat paste for her to eat.

Thinking of corn, Lin Suisui couldn’t help swallowing.

She hadn’t eaten it for a long time.

“Grandma Kong, can you give me two wool sticks? I’ll help you weave a small flower basket.”

Grandma Kong immediately put the wool sticks into a bag and handed them over.

Heiyun naturally took them.

“They aren’t anything valuable. If Little Suisui likes them, Grandma can give them all to you.”

It really was corn.

Lin Suisui’s eyes instantly lit up.

She shook her head.

“No, I still have to give something in return. Suisui can’t take advantage of Grandma.”

“Suisui’s flower baskets are woven very well. I can exchange them with Grandma.”

Grandma Kong was helpless.

A little cub who was too sensible wasn’t necessarily a good thing.

She should be allowed to act spoiled sometimes.

Such a cute little cub should have all the good things in the world.

Looking at that tiny face, she only hoped it would always remain happy.

…

On the way back, Lin Suisui refused to let Heiyun carry her anymore.

Ever since coming to this world, she had barely walked more than a few steps.

If she didn’t walk a little more, Lin Suisui worried she would become unable to walk at all.

Despite Heiyun’s strong reluctance, Lin Suisui insisted that she would walk back by herself this time.

His large, warm hand wrapped around Lin Suisui’s small hand.

Heiyun walked in front of her.

His tall figure blocked all the wind and sand for her.

Lin Suisui’s tiny body hid inside Heiyun’s robe.

She felt like she was a little kangaroo, and Dad was the kangaroo mother protecting her.

“Pfft.”

Lin Suisui was amused by her own thought and laughed.

“Hm?”

Hearing the sound, Heiyun looked back at the cub in confusion.

His eyes silently asked:

What happened?

Lin Suisui smiled brightly and shook her head.

“It’s just that I suddenly feel… having Dad here makes me feel so safe.”

Heiyun stiffly turned his head away.

The little cub had praised him again.

“Protecting my little cub is what I should do.”

“Dad, Suisui also prepared a gift for you.”

Lin Suisui suddenly said.

Heiyun froze.

He had one too?

“Of course! How could Suisui forget Dad?”

Lin Suisui said.

It was a huge pink butterfly flower wreath.

A gift that belonged only to her and Dad.

“I like it.”

Heiyun suddenly spoke.

“What?”

Lin Suisui didn’t react.

Heiyun repeated:

“The gift. I like it.”

Lin Suisui laughed.

“Dad, you haven’t even seen the gift I gave you yet. How can you already say you like it?”

Heiyun looked at Lin Suisui and seriously said:

“Anything my little cub gives me, I like.”

Lin Suisui was stunned.

Then she happily replied:

“I like Dad the most too.”

So Dad, don’t be afraid.

Suisui will always stay by your side.
