Watching the two figures leave, Feng Mian finally felt his hanging heart drop. Exhausted to the point of collapse, he slumped onto the floor and covered his face with his hands, an endless weariness nearly swallowing him whole.
When would days like these finally come to an end…
His stomach burned with an excruciating sensation, as if a ball of fire were rising, scorching his esophagus and throat. His entire chest cavity was in unbearable pain, as if insects and ants were gnawing at his heart, pulling at his bones and organs the pain was so intense it was nearly suffocating.
Feng Mian frowned and let out a painful groan, trembling as he collapsed on the floor. A taste of blood welled up in his throat. He clutched his abdomen, his face as pale as paper. Dark red blood spilled from his lips and teeth; eventually, unable to hold it back, he coughed up a mouthful of blood.
The pain intensified, feeling as if his bones were about to shatter. Unable to even stand, Feng Mian forced himself to remain semi-conscious. He crawled toward the bedside table and, with trembling hands, pulled out an unlabeled medicine bottle from the drawer. He shoved two pills into his mouth and swallowed them. Within half a minute of the pills going down, the physical discomfort faded completely. It came and went quickly; in less than five minutes, he was drenched in cold sweat, looking as if he had been fished out of a pool.
Feng Mian lay on the floor for a while before he could catch his breath. Looking at the empty bottle in his hand, he offered a bitter smile, his eyes turning slightly red.
He reckoned that even until his death, he would be controlled by the Feng family…
Overwhelmed by a sense of powerlessness, his mind grew heavy and groggy, and within moments, he drifted into a deep sleep.
Night fell deep.
Feng Mian felt like he couldn’t catch his breath; his chest felt as if a heavy stone were pressing down on it, making him feel stifled. Forced to open his eyes, he was met with the sight of a man hovering over him. He found himself unexpectedly locked in a gaze with those deep, amber-colored eyes. Feng Mian instinctively wanted to cry out, but the man’s finger gently pressed against his lips.
Chi Mingzhou’s voice was cold and detached, “Do you want to call everyone over to witness me having an affair with you? I don’t care, but whether you can walk out of the Chi household alive, I cannot say.”
Chi Mingzhou began to unfasten the loose belt of his bathrobe in a slow, deliberate manner, his words filled with humiliation. “What a good boy. When Chi Chen told you not to lock the door, you listened obediently. How about you wait for me every night from now on as well, hmm?”
The belt loosened, and the ink-black robe slid down his body, slowly revealing his jade-white skin. It was mottled with purple and blue bruises, with bloody bite marks carved into him, possessing a beauty that bordered on pathological.
Chi Mingzhou’s gaze darkened. He reached out as if to touch him, but before he could make contact, Feng Mian suddenly reached out and clamped down on his wrist.
Feng Mian’s voice carried a weak, sobbing tone, “Uncle… if we are discovered, I will die…”
Chi Mingzhou let out an indifferent, cold laugh. “What does that have to do with me?”
He pinched Feng Mian’s waist, his breathing becoming heavier. He asked gloomily, “Do you really want to get involved with Chi Chen?”
Feng Mian turned his head, his eyes gazing in despair at the puddle of blood he had coughed up not far away. His voice was weary and powerless. “I just want to stay alive.”
Chi Mingzhou scoffed, “Is there no man you can’t live without?”
Feng Mian was just about to explain when “knock, knock” sounds suddenly came from the door. Chi Chen’s cursing voice sounded from outside, “You locked the door again, dammit!”
Feng Mian panicked and tried to push Chi Mingzhou away, but suddenly, Chi Mingzhou’s hand pressed firmly into his waist. Feng Mian’s eyes widened, and he let out an uncontrollable, muffled groan.
He looked at Chi Mingzhou in disbelief, while Chi Mingzhou looked back at him with a smile, his deep eyes filled with malice.
The door was not soundproof. Chi Chen, outside the room, heard the abnormal commotion coming from within.
Chi Chen frowned slightly. After a moment of hesitation, he said with certainty, “Feng Mian, you aren’t asleep.”
Feng Mian covered his mouth tightly.
Chi Mingzhou grew increasingly audacious, lifting Feng Mian up and pressing him against the door, separated from Chi Chen by only a single wooden panel.
Chi Mingzhou leaned down and whispered into Feng Mian’s ear:
“Tell him what you are doing…”
