Shen Li was speechless to the absolute limit. This name only had its first syllable different from his own. “Ji Zhouye, why don’t you just name it Almighty Vajra?”
“Divine Power sounds better.” Ji Zhouye was spouting nonsense with a completely straight face.
Shen Li was so furious he almost coughed up blood on the spot. “Wouldn’t it sound even better if you just named it Shen Li? Ji Zhouye, doing this makes me think you are harboring lingering affections for me.”
“Yeah, I really am harboring lingering affections. Every time I say its name, I think of you.” The corners of Ji Zhouye’s lips curved upward.
In Shen Li’s eyes, he looked exceptionally punchable.
Back when they were dating, he had told Ji Zhouye that if Ji Zhouye ever dumped him and broke up with him, he would raise a dog and name it Ji Zhouye. Now tables had turned, and he was the one who ended up being that dog.
He suddenly felt that Ji Zhouye not directly naming the dog Shen Li was already the utmost mercy. “I thank you, thank you so much for harboring lingering affections for me.”
What lingering affections? Ji Zhouye was simply here to gross him out.
That dog hadn’t been named Divine Power originally. Ji Zhouye had given it several names, but it hadn’t reacted to any of them. It was only later when he got drunk one time and looked at the dog that remained completely indifferent no matter how many names he called out, that he remembered when he had begged Shen Li to stay upon being broken up with, Shen Li had been just as indifferent.
So he called out the name Shen Li, and the dog heard it, ran over to him wagging its tail, and rubbed its head against his leg.
At first Ji Zhouye thought it was a coincidence, so he called out again. Divine Power let out a bark and continued rubbing against his leg.
Ever since then, Divine Power had its name.
He wouldn’t be as childish as Shen Li to raise a dog and name it after the other person just because they broke up.
If Divine Power hadn’t reacted to those two syllables, he wouldn’t have used it either.
“If you like dogs, I will bring it over in a couple of days to keep you company.”
Divine Power keeping Shen Li company?
Wonderful, just wonderful.
“Fine then, bring it over.” Once it was brought over, he would change its name to Ji Zhouye.
Divine Power was a stray he had rescued. When he found it, it was less than two months old and suffering from a severe illness with very little chance of survival, which was precisely why it had been abandoned.
Divine Power had a tenacious will to live and fully recovered after spending half a month at the pet hospital.
Ji Zhouye had always kept Divine Power raised at the estate, but during a period when he was too busy and had no time to keep it company, he sent it to the old family residence.
Later on, when Shen Li arrived, Ji Zhouye wasn’t sure if he liked dogs, so he temporarily kept it at the old residence, which happened to suit Jizhiyu just fine.
Jizhiyu liked the dog, but not its name, and insisted on changing it. After failing several times, he gave up.
Divine Power only responded to those two syllables.
Shen Li muttered, “Ji Zhouye, tomorrow I am going to raise a dog too and name it Ji Zhouye.”
“Whatever makes you happy, I am fine with anything.” Ji Zhouye didn’t care in the least, because he knew Shen Li was just talking big.
“Go to sleep.” Shen Li yanked the blanket over, covering himself casually.
Ji Zhouye’s words were direct and unvarnished. “Didn’t you say you wanted to sleep with me?”
Shen Li: “As if.”
He actually still remembered that.
“I don’t want to sleep anymore.”
Ji Zhouye replied, “Then I will sleep with you.”
The atmosphere in the room instantly turned ambiguous. Shen Li’s heartbeat accelerated entirely out of his control; being with Ji Zhouye meant speeding down the highway at any given moment. “I am tired, I do not want to.”
This time, Ji Zhouye didn’t use the agreement between them or his identity as a kept lover to threaten him. Instead, he said, “Shen Li, a person has to take responsibility for the words they say and the things they do. Did you forget what you said when we walked out of the restaurant? Do you need me to help you jog your memory?”
Shen Li: “Unbelievable.”
He also understood Ji Zhouye well enough to know that if he refused to admit it today, Ji Zhouye would genuinely use actions to help him recall every single detail one by one.
It was definitely going to happen tonight; either Ji Zhouye took the initiative, or he did.
Ji Zhouye had slept with him so many times, so sleeping with Ji Zhouye just once couldn’t possibly be asking too much, right?
“Fine, bring it on.” Shen Li flipped over, pinned Ji Zhouye beneath him, blocked his thin lips, and tried to mimic the way Ji Zhouye kissed him.
His kissing technique was amateurish, proving beyond doubt that he was only ever meant to be the one pinned down by Ji Zhouye.
Shen Li stirred up Ji Zhouye’s passion, only to have no idea how to put the fire out, ultimately forcing Ji Zhouye to take care of it himself.
Shen Li had to endure the pleasure brought by Ji Zhouye beneath him.
Originally, he had wanted to sleep with Ji Zhouye, but in the end, he could only be the one slept with by Ji Zhouye.
Waking up the next day feeling sore all over, he gave a kick toward the still-unconscious person beside him, and without looking back, stormed straight into the bathroom.
Ji Zhouye woke up from the kick but wasn’t annoyed at all. Amusement shone clearly in his eyes. “Shen Li, that is all the skill you have.”
The bathroom door opened, and Shen Li walked out with both hands stuffed in his pockets, wearing an expression of pure grievance and stubborn defiance. “Ji Zhouye, just you wait. The moment Jiang Qing rises back up and leaves JH trailing streets behind, you will be my lover, the one pinned beneath me.”
Ji Zhouye let out a low chuckle. In Shen Li’s eyes, this was naked ridicule.
“I will be waiting,” Ji Zhouye said with a smile. “I look forward to your success.”
With a dark face, Shen Li retreated back into the bathroom and slammed the door shut.
Jiang Qing Office
Ling Feng was organizing the documents on his desk.
Shen Li looked at him. “Tell me, what does it mean when someone doesn’t like you, yet always flirts with you?”
“They’re just lonely,” Ling Feng replied without a second thought.
Catching himself, Ling Feng paused for a moment before adding, “Or maybe they do like you, but they’re just hiding it really well and you haven’t noticed.”
“Really?” Shen Li remained half-skeptical.
“Really.”
Ling Feng felt a lingering tremor of fear in his chest, having almost accidentally offended this exalted master once again. Right now, he didn’t just have to act as an assistant; he also had to double as a relationship guru.
Driven by a hint of gossip, he asked, “President Shen, what is the exact deal between you and the Big Boss Ji?”
Shen Li had nothing much to hide anyway; anyone who gave the questions he had asked even a tiny bit of thought could easily guess a thing or two. “He is my first love. We had an unpleasant breakup, and now he wants revenge on me.”
“President Shen, are you playing me for a fool because you think I’m simple?” Ling Feng didn’t believe Ji Zhouye wanted revenge on him at all. “If the Big Boss Ji really wanted revenge on you, why would he go all the way to the police station to fish you out?”
“That is precisely the part I cannot figure out. What on earth is going through Ji Zhouye’s head?”
“I’ve never been in a relationship, so I’m just speaking from my own personal perspective. Take it with a grain of salt.” He was a bystander, after all.
Shen Li prompted, “Go ahead.”
“I think the Big Boss Ji wanting revenge on you is fake, and wanting to get back together with you is real.”
Ling Feng continued, “Think about it, who takes revenge like that? The Big Boss Ji could crush you with just a flick of his finger if he wanted to. Why would he bother with all this?”
Shen Li fell deep into thought. “What if he wants to torture me slowly? Give me hope first, and then push me into despair.”
“The Big Boss Ji is not that kind of person,” Ling Feng said with absolute certainty.
Shen Li almost thought Ling Feng had been bought off by Ji Zhouye. “Were you bought by Ji Zhouye or something? Why are you always sticking up for him?”
“Anyway, the Big Boss Ji is a good guy.”
“Fine, fine, fine. You’re all good guys, and I’m the only bad guy here.”
After Ling Feng left, Shen Li fell into a state of self-doubt.
Had he really been painting Ji Zhouye in too wicked of a light?
Putting everything else aside, Ji Zhouye was genuinely formidable when it came to winning people over. He had to bow out in defeat.
Even Ling Feng was utterly devoted to him now.
Recalling Ling Feng’s analysis, Shen Li gave a faint tug at the corners of his lips as his eyes curved into a smile.
