“Xiao Yu, we can talk about anything, but breaking up won’t solve the problem.”
Lu Jiayu blocked Sang Yu’s path, refusing to let her leave.
If Sang Yu hadn’t reacted so intensely just now, he would have preferred to hold her tight.
He wouldn’t allow her to leave.
And he certainly wouldn’t let her mention breaking up again.
That would be like stabbing a knife into his heart.
Sang Yu had originally hoped for an amicable parting, but now that Lu Jiayu was preventing her from leaving, her resentment could no longer be suppressed.
How could he treat her like this?
“Lu Jiayu, did it feel good to be on that variety show with Ye Fei?”
Lu Jiayu was taken aback, unsure why Sang Yu suddenly brought this up. “That was just work.”
“I used to think so too.”
If it weren’t for Sang Yu’s good upbringing and the buffer of her time as a wandering ghost, she would have slapped Lu Jiayu twice by now.
“Lu Jiayu, do you feel a sense of accomplishment from treating me like a fool?”
Sang Yu’s eyes were cold and sharp.
Her words were equally icy, as if she wanted to pierce right through Lu Jiayu.
Lu Jiayu realized she wasn’t just playing around—she truly intended to break up with him.
How could that be?
He wouldn’t agree.
Without Sang Yu, Lu Jiayu would die.
Anxiously, he tried to embrace her.
“Don’t touch me!” Sang Yu swung her handbag, hitting Lu Jiayu.
The hard corner of the bag grazed the man’s face, leaving a faint scratch.
Slowly, blood began to seep out.
For an actor, their face is of utmost importance.
Sang Yu felt no remorse.
He deserved it.
Lu Jiayu paid no attention to the injury on his face. He desperately tried to explain himself to Sang Yu, wanting to prove his innocence.
“Xiao Yu, I can explain. There’s nothing between me and Ye Fei. You have to believe me.”
Sang Yu replied impatiently, “It’s not just about doing something physical for it to mean something.”
Lu Jiayu felt utterly helpless with Sang Yu.
How could he ever do anything inappropriate with another woman?
“We really were just working. If you don’t believe me, you can check my phone. I don’t even have her personal contact information. Whenever there’s an issue, Brother Wang handles it with her agent.”
“If you don’t want me to, I won’t have any professional interactions with her in the future.”
Because of their trust, they never checked each other’s phones.
And indeed, there were no secrets in his phone.
As he spoke, Lu Jiayu reached for his phone to show Sang Yu, but he was afraid she would take the opportunity to leave. The two of them stood there, locked in a stalemate.
Neither would compromise.
In the quiet room, only the sound from the television could be heard.
Sang Yu turned her head.
Just in time to see a clip of Lu Jiayu and Ye Fei smiling at each other.
The editors had even added pink bubbles.
The screen was overflowing with sickly sweetness.
Sang Yu pointed at it, her tone dripping with sarcasm. “You’re quite dedicated, aren’t you? You pour all your emotions into acting, and even on variety shows.”
Lu Jiayu tried to say more, but Sang Yu cut him off. “Stop using work as an excuse. When you recorded that show, you weren’t required to act like a couple.”
“Is this what they call genuine affection?”
“Xiao Yu, I just haven’t moved on from the last drama yet. Can you give me some time?” Lu Jiayu had no choice but to be honest.
Sang Yu found it utterly ridiculous. “Time? How much do you need?”
“A year?”
“Two years?”
“Will you eventually realize that you and Ye Fei are meant to be? And then blame me for holding you back?”
Lu Jiayu shook his head. How could he possibly think that way?
“How could I possibly fall in love with someone else?”
“You’re already feeling something for Ye Fei now. Isn’t that enough to prove the point?”
Lu Jiayu’s face showed embarrassment and unease.
He was certain that the one he loved was Sang Yu.
It was just that when facing Ye Fei, he always felt she was still his leading lady.
He couldn’t help but want to get close to her.
“Xiao Yu, give me some time.”
These words were pale and powerless, lacking any credibility.
“I don’t have that much time to waste on you. Today, Ye Fei is your leading lady, so you feel something for her. In the future, you’ll have countless leading ladies, and you could just as easily fall for them too. I don’t want to live my life as a resentful woman.”
“If you have any conscience left, you shouldn’t make me watch you fall for someone else.”
“Once unfaithful, a hundred times untrustworthy.”
“Lu Jiayu, let’s part on good terms.”
The words “unfaithful” drained Lu Jiayu of the strength to stop Sang Yu.
“Xiao Yu, I don’t want to break up.”
Sang Yu brushed past him. “It’s not up to you.”
From now on, they would no longer be the closest of people.
