Because she was distracted communicating with the System, Wen Runan’s attention to the game waned considerably, leading to two consecutive operational errors that caused the game to end prematurely.

“You’re zoning out,” Li Mo put down her controller and turned her head to look at Wen Runan. “What are you thinking about?”

“Ah, I was thinking about Li…” Wen Runan instinctively began, but halfway through, she realized, “…how it doesn’t seem like much time until dinner.”Full novel: After the Cannon Fodder Awakens, They Marry the Heroine! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Li Mo’s brow twitched slightly. “Are you hungry?”

“Not exactly hungry, just a bit peckish. I want to eat something,” Wen Runan bluffed, knowing she absolutely couldn’t mention that she was thinking about Li Beichen’s situation.

Li Mo nodded, seemingly believing the excuse. “If there’s anything you’d like to eat, you can tell me in advance, and I’ll have the helper prepare it.”

Wen Runan nodded obediently. Upon seeing that the level had reset, she focused on playing the game.

As she played, Wen Runan became increasingly energized. She realized that Li Mo’s learning speed was incredibly fast. For the first hour, Wen Runan had been leading the play; for the second hour, she was being carried.

“Is this the difference between a genius and an ordinary person?” Wen Runan murmured to herself after seeing the ‘Level Cleared’ notification on the large screen.

Li Mo was in a good mood; playing the game released some of her suppressed emotions. Seeing Wen Runan spacing out, she stroked her head. “It’s all because Teacher Wen taught me so well.”

“Then you are a brilliant student, ‘born of the blue, but excelling the blue’!” Wen Runan naturally leaned into Li Mo’s embrace. “Your gaming skills are better than many professional streamers.”

Li Mo merely smiled and didn’t reply. While playing games could soothe her emotions, it wasn’t within her realm of interest; she was only playing to keep Wen Runan company.

Dinner was prepared on-site by the helper who brought the ingredients. There weren’t many dishes—a total of four dishes and one soup, all of which Wen Runan had requested beforehand.

“Is it my turn to play a game with you now?” Li Mo circled Wen Runan from behind, still carrying a faint steaminess from the bathroom.

“But your hair isn’t dry. You’ll catch a cold if you leave it like that. How about I blow-dry it for you first?” Wen Runan was slightly nervous. If they were going to ‘play a game,’ would something different happen tonight?

“Alright,” Li Mo agreed readily, sitting down with her back to Wen Runan.

This wasn’t the first time Wen Runan had helped Li Mo dry her hair. After turning on the hairdryer and testing the temperature with the back of her hand, Wen Runan’s hand ran through Li Mo’s hair, adjusting the direction and using her fingertips to gently separate the strands. Her movements were very practiced.

Neither of them spoke during this process. Li Mo closed her eyes, seemingly enjoying the sensation.

After about ten minutes, the sound of the hairdryer disappeared, replaced by the rustle of clothes falling and sporadic muffled whimpers.

Wen Runan was stimulated, tilting her head back, her vulnerable throat completely exposed to the air. After being gently licked, faint traces were left behind.

Perhaps because Wen Runan had been very obedient these past two days, Li Mo’s movements remained gentle, even indulging her to initiate actions on her body.

Staying up all night was out of the question. Whether it was for a relationship or anything else, a slow and steady flow was necessary; sustainable development was the most important thing.

Around midnight, the bathroom lights were turned on again. The exhausted Wen Runan relaxed in the bathtub, enjoying a complete cleaning service from her bedmate.

“Li Mo—” Wen Runan’s voice was hoarser than any time before.

“I’m here,” Li Mo’s lips curved into a beautiful smile. She was diligently carrying out the cleaning, treating Wen Runan like a precious treasure.

“Did you secretly work out behind my back?” Wen Runan spoke weakly. Her words of accusation sounded more like whining. “Why are you so fit? You can even carry me to the bathroom for a bath!”

“I only worked out for a month right after I first woke up,” Li Mo said with a smile, rubbing a certain person’s slender waist with her fingertips. “Other than that, I only exercise occasionally.”

“Don’t…” Wen Runan subconsciously spoke up. “It tickles.”

“A massage will make you much more comfortable tomorrow. Are you sure you don’t want it?” Li Mo increased the pressure in her hand, and soon heard a muffled groan mixed with a slight nasal sound.

“Just a massage, nothing else,” Wen Runan stipulated, her voice inevitably revealing certain sounds.

Li Mo’s eyes deepened. She suppressed the rising desire and slowly nodded. “Fine, just a massage.”

After enjoying the pleasure, Li Mo responsibly cleaned up the scene, dried the water droplets on Wen Runan’s body, and placed her into the clean covers.

Hesitating for a moment between working on documents and sleeping, Li Mo eventually put on a jacket, took her laptop to the study, and worked until almost dawn before finally lying back in bed.

Sensing a familiar presence beside her, Wen Runan quickly turned and snuggled up. Even in her sleep, she skillfully nestled close to Li Mo.

Gently stroking the hair of the person beside her, Li Mo’s expression softened, her eyes filled with undisguised affection and possessiveness.

If Wen Runan remained this obedient, she wouldn’t mind spending another century in this world, giving her all the beauty the world had to offer, and slowly growing old with her.

“You didn’t go to work?” Wen Runan sprawled wantonly on Li Mo’s body, using her stomach as a pillow.

“Mhm,” Li Mo nodded. Seeing Wen Runan start to poke her abdomen, she reached out and pulled her up. “I’m thinking of letting you have a paid leave until the New Year. What do you think?”

“Huh?” Wen Runan was stunned. “It’s only early December now. If I take a leave until the New Year, I won’t be going to work for over sixty days?”

Li Mo countered, “Paid leave, isn’t that good?”

Wen Runan was a little conflicted. “Paid leave is great, but won’t there be a bad influence? I feel like I’m getting a salary just by riding on your connections.”

Li Mo patiently smoothed Wen Runan’s stray wisps of hair, strand by strand. “There won’t be any influence. Your salary can be deducted from my dividends from now on.”

Wen Runan: “Doesn’t that mean you’re keeping me?”

“You’re unwilling?” Li Mo’s hand movements paused. She lowered her eyes and stared at Wen Runan, her gaze turning dangerous.

Wen Runan blinked. “It’s fine, but you must promise to take care of me for life. Otherwise, if you spoil me and then abandon me, I won’t be able to survive.”

To deal with someone with such a perverted need for control, you must placate them! Just go with the flow!

“Alright, I promise you,” Li Mo’s eyes returned to their usual gentle state. She leaned in close to Wen Runan’s ear and gave her assurance, “I will take care of you for life.”

Having successfully escaped a prison sentence, Li Beichen completely held a grudge against Li Mo. He stopped pretending. Upon finding out Li Mo hadn’t gone to work, he paid a hefty sum to invite many well-known media outlets and exposed the matter of Li Mo and Wen Runan through a live broadcast.

“You can take the company if you want it, but Wen Runan is my girlfriend. She is carrying my child, and I hope you can give her back to me.”

Facing the camera, Li Beichen disguised himself as a devoted man. He claimed he could give up anything and everything to Li Mo, only begging her not to take her anger out on his girlfriend.

“Nannan hasn’t been to work for several days. None of her friends or family can contact her. I reasonably suspect that Nannan has been taken away and imprisoned by Li Mo in order to retaliate against me!”

“I am willing to resign from all my positions at Jiaheng, as long as you return Nannan to me!”

Li Beichen was determined to drag Li Mo down. Since he had already been stamped with a mental illness diagnosis, doing something extreme at this point would only garner sympathy.

As expected, by adding the label of ‘devoted man,’ Li Beichen’s image underwent a massive shift.

The love story between a CEO and a humble employee without a background is something many ordinary people love to see. Especially when the CEO is willing to give up everything just to be with the employee, many netizens inexplicably began to ’empathize’ with him.

Before the relevant media arrived at the scene, Li Mo, who was at home playing games with Wen Runan, received the news. Upon seeing that Li Beichen had started a live broadcast, she connected it directly to the large screen and watched.

“??” Wen Runan suddenly widened her eyes after seeing it. “Nonsense! When was I ever his girlfriend! We were never even in a relationship! At most, we held hands! Where did this child come from! Did it pop out of a rock!”

“Li Mo, you don’t believe these lies, do you?” Wen Runan turned to look at Li Mo, her eyes filled with shock and fury.

“You held hands?” Li Mo immediately caught the key point. “When did that happen? Which hand did he hold?”

“…” Wen Runan choked up a bit and whispered, “That was a long time ago. After I agreed to be with you, I haven’t really interacted with Li Beichen…”

Li Mo didn’t reply. She still hadn’t forgotten where she had taken Wen Runan home from a few days ago.

“Isn’t it bad to just let Li Beichen talk nonsense like this? Should I step forward and clarify?” Wen Runan started to change the subject. She still hadn’t completed the hidden mission she had taken on.

Although the requirement was to eliminate Li Beichen before his Blackening Value reached one hundred, the System had also warned her that Li Beichen would likely attempt a mutual destruction within seven days, so she only had seven days left.

“No need. The actions of a mere clown,” Li Mo sneered. “Li Beichen is truly an idiot for seeking public opinion this way.”

Publicly admitting his love for Wen Runan and willingness to give up everything for her. This act seemed like it was pressuring her, exposing her own same-sex preferences while placing the blame of being the third party on her.

But anyone with a brain would know the consequences of such an action: pushing his only remaining trump card, the Liu Family, away and even slapping the Liu Family in the face.

If Li Beichen already has a pregnant girlfriend, why would he still marry Liu Lu? Isn’t that trampling on the Liu Family’s dignity?

“But the comments on the live broadcast seem to be siding with Li Beichen, and they’re saying that Jiaheng’s stock has been affected…” Wen Runan could guess a little of the inside story, but the overly complex capital relations were making her dizzy.

“It doesn’t matter. If the stock drops too much, I’ll buy some back. It’s a good opportunity to further increase my shareholding ratio,” Li Mo gently stroked Wen Runan’s back, following her dark, thick hair. “Don’t worry about it. You just need to stay home and be good.”

“What about you?” Wen Runan sniffed out a sliver of opportunity.

“I have to go out on an urgent matter. I’ll be back later,” Li Mo held Wen Runan’s shoulders and buried her head in her neck. “The helper will come over to prepare dinner. Just tell her what you want to eat.”

Wen Runan let out a slight,不满哼声 (hum of dissatisfaction). “You just said you’d spend the whole day with me.”

“My mistake. I’ll give you a chance to punish me tonight. How about that?” Li Mo whispered softly.

Li Mo’s unique warm breath sprayed on Wen Runan’s neck, making her instinctively slow her breathing, afraid of breaking the current atmosphere.

“You can’t go back on your word,” Wen Runan admitted. She was a ‘lecherous old pervert’ (lsp); her heart was moved.

Li Mo was going out to handle serious business this time. Li Beichen’s fallout with the Liu Family gave her a prime opportunity.

They were all mature capitalists now. There was no such thing as hatred between them, only eternal profit.

As expected, upon hearing that Li Mo was visiting, Mr. Liu didn’t put on any airs and quickly came out to greet her personally.

“Uncle Liu,” Li Mo smiled, bowing slightly when she saw him, looking very much like a respectful junior.

“It’s President Li! Please come in quickly,” Li Mo gave Mr. Liu plenty of face, and he naturally reciprocated, willingly acting as her guide.

“Beichen is immature. I apologize on his behalf. I’m truly sorry to Miss Liu Lu,” Li Mo said with a sigh. “I hope Uncle Liu can understand. After all, my brother has had mental issues, and he’ll probably need to go to a sanitarium for treatment soon.”

A flicker of surprise crossed Mr. Liu’s eyes. He seemed not to have expected Li Mo’s methods to be so forceful, intending to essentially confine her own biological brother for life.

“That’s truly regrettable. If Beichen hadn’t had this issue, our two families could have become even closer,” Mr. Liu adjusted his expression, speaking with a look of regret.

“I had discussed it with Beichen before. We were planning to establish an integrated culture and entertainment town, and we’d already communicated with the local government several times. Now that Beichen has this problem, it looks like this project will have to be postponed.”

Li Mo listened patiently. After Mr. Liu finished speaking, she naturally picked up the teapot and poured him more tea. “What a coincidence. I happen to have a similar idea and am preparing to establish a new subsidiary specifically to handle that area.”

Mr. Liu appropriately feigned surprise. “Is that so? What a coincidence!”

After the two talked in the tea room for over an hour, Mr. Liu hosted a private dinner, inviting Li Mo to attend.

The details of their conversation need no further elaboration. In any case, as Li Mo got into the car driven by her assistant, the Liu Family publicly stated on social media that Li Beichen’s condition had worsened. Doctors had diagnosed him with delusions, and the Li and Liu families had mutually agreed to terminate the engagement.

They also issued a solemn statement: Li Beichen and Liu Lu had only been in a romantic relationship before his illness. The patient’s memory was confused, and they urged the media not to spread misleading information.

In one fell swoop, the Liu Family not only confirmed Li Beichen’s mental illness but also refuted and clarified his previous statements.

The Liu Family’s statement was far more effective than having Wen Runan step forward to clarify. The media might dare to pursue an ordinary person, digging and twisting her words. However, they would not dare to directly confront a major corporation, whose legal team was truly formidable.

As soon as the statement was released, most of the negative comments on public platforms disappeared. Relevant marketing accounts were also warned against causing trouble, and public opinion practically reversed within an hour.

Li Beichen was truly furious when he discovered this. He had thrown away his carefully managed image and self-respect to drag Li Mo down, only to end up being labeled as having delusions?

He wouldn’t accept it; he refused to submit!
