Some adults’ oral stage expresses itself as a craving for chewing.
Jiang Wu remembered a few days ago when her medical student friend told her that she loved to eat, her habit of biting straws overlapped slightly with the oral stage, and she even asked her softly if she had not had breast milk when she was little, with her mommy often not by her side.
Due to an excessive lack of maternal love, the oral stage, which should have ended around one year of age, extended all the way to twenty-one.
She had scoffed at this.
When she was first picked up by her older sister, her sister was only a little over ten years old herself, yet she placed her in an orphanage and visited her from time to time.
Later, when her sister turned sixteen, she took Jiang Wu with her when she left. There were many children in the orphanage, and her sister said that she was like a scrap dog that did not contend or compete, and she would definitely be bullied there.
She did not have a mother, but she had a sister.
Regarding love, her sister gave her a wonderful explanation, so how could she possibly lack such a thing.
But right now, Jiang Wu stared fixedly at those heavy sucking marks on Pei Yu’s chest, her whole body stiffening to the point where she could practically hear the faint grinding sound of her bones.
We are absolutely doomed.
Pei Yu did not even let her bite her waist and abdomen, let alone how she could possibly condone her biting here. What on earth had she been up to last night in her sleep, even unconsciously undressing herself, was she that high-tech?
Yet right now, she was being held tightly in Pei Yu’s arms, the woman’s palm cradling her waist, half of her body pinned underneath her. If she tried to wiggle out, Pei Yu would definitely wake up.
Her breath still carried the scent of being gently wrapped in irises. Jiang Wu carefully slid out one arm, acting all sneaky and puppy-like as she tidied up the messy clothes on Pei Yu’s chest, trying to cover up those crimson marks.
Just as she finished smoothing them out and quietly let out a sigh of relief, a hazy, husky tone dropped down from above her head.
“Thank you.”
“You are wel… wait, what?!” She froze in place.
The woman lowered her gaze, her light amber eyes still holding the unscattered mist of just waking up, quietly staring at the person before her who had no justification yet dared to look straight at her.
Normally, when someone made a mistake, this was the moment they should kneel.
Instead of still boldly pinning her down like a wronged, pitiful little puppy.
“Get down and kneel.”
Pei Yu gently trembled her shoulders, her other hand pushing against the puppy who was already scared out of her wits. A few seconds later, she impatiently twisted her brow.
“I am sorry!”
Jiang Wu hurriedly scrambled up, but because her movements were too frantic, she accidentally rolled right off the edge. Her sleep robe rolled up just enough to expose her pale waist and abdomen, leading up to a sharp V-line.
The muscle lines were hidden as the puppy pushed herself up into a kneeling position, and Pei Yu withdrew her gaze without leaving a trace.
Today was morning court. She got up, lowered her gaze, and locked eyes with the pitiful, helpless, and fragile little ball kneeling and looking up at her from the ground. She let out an imperceptible sigh.
Forget it. She must have been sleeping muddled last night to actually indulge her in such wild behavior.
Jiang Wu was young and had been constantly spoiled by the chancellor; losing control in her sleep was somewhat forgivable.
Her soft heart made her allow the person who had been kneeling for less than a minute to stand up, only to realize that the person who had just curled into a tiny ball was actually quite huge. Standing before her with lowered head and bright, sparkling eyes, she looked like a fluffy, large-scale canine.
Still a little scoundrel who really knew how to bite.
Perhaps because the child was starting to grow, her waist and abdomen felt terribly distended this morning, and she could not bring Jiang Wu to morning court anyway. Pushing down the inexplicable irritation in her heart, she picked up the muzzle from beside her pillow.
Turning her head to cast a light, casual glance at the alpha, that pair of bright, pretty obsidian pupils instantly dropped, nuzzling her head right against the woman’s hand.
She reached out, undid the clasp of the muzzle, and strapped it onto Jiang Wu. The cold, silver-toned mask bound tightly around her jawline, leaving only her moist, slender lips exposed.
“I am going to morning court. Do as you please.”
Walking around more during the day should burn off that excessive energy by tonight; for someone like Jiang Wu, walking herself shouldn’t be a problem at all.
“Mm-hm.”
Jiang Wu curved her eyes, smiling brightly.
There weren’t many places paramours could visit in the palace. Clutching the remaining half-liang of loose silver coins for the month, Jiang Wu sneaked and packed up some of the newly served pastries from beside Pei Yu’s table to take back with her.
The glowing orb, which had been dizzying her eyes with mosaics for the past few days, finally stabilized and hovered over Jiang Wu’s head, calling out to her.
“Mm-hm.” Jiang Wu responded while opening the system mall, staring at the twenty points sitting at the top. She reached up, plucked the glowing orb from her head, and gave it a shake.
“Over these past few days, I cooked for the female emperor, bit her glands, and eased her body. Did not a single point get added? Did you eat my points or something?”
The glowing orb was shaken until it went soft like a puddle of water, flashing for a moment before broadcasting in a stuck, mechanical voice.
“Added, ten, do not shake anymore.”
“But Host, your mission progress is still zero.”
Zero.
Quite normal; the female emperor’s wishes must be grand, so they would take it slow and not rush.
She scrolled the mall down to the prenatal check-up mental power option.
She was still twenty points short of redeeming it.
It had been over forty days, and every single prenatal checkup consisted of the imperial physicians taking her pulse, repeating the same old lines about the fetal pulse being stable and acceptable.
She wasn’t reassured at all.
Yet if she managed to get her hands on this mental power, how was she supposed to explain it to Pei Yu?
Tell her she had superpowers? Wouldn’t the woman just burn her at the stake?
“1008.”
The orb bounced near her hand and sternly retorted: “Host, 1008 is your code name.”
Jiang Wu lowered her gaze and pressed it down with a single finger.
The nerve of a machine giving humans code names, forgetting who was boss around here.
“For the mental power prenatal check-up, is the reaction Pei Yu feels big?”
The system flipped through its manual, summarizing a few words from a pile of mosaics.
“Depends on the mission target’s personal sensitivity.”
It figured it ought to be quite big; this went straight inside the person’s stomach after all, and the piercing sensation was agonizing enough, not to mention poking around everywhere inside.
“If Host works hard and brings the technology of this place into the mechanical era, you won’t have to go through so much trouble!”
“Is there any possibility of that happening?” Jiang Wu tilted her head to look at it.
“Nope.”
She understandingly curved her lips, flicked the glowing orb off the table with a single finger, and walked out of the thatched hut. She locked eyes with Zhang Lingzhou, who was watering the green vegetables and scallions given to her right outside the door.
Zhang Lingzhou’s gaze landed on the metal-textured muzzle by the side of her face, the light in her eyes mottled for a moment before she spoke, her voice dyed with a hint of complexity and obscurity.
“Whose neck were you biting this time?”
