The next morning.
Inside the Jiang family villa.
Jiang Chengye woke up from a deep sleep, propping himself up and shaking his head. The dream he had last night felt unbelievably real. He even dreamed that Little System saw him and mischievously asked how the added “ingredients” were.
As for the maid-dressed girl beside Little System, Jiang Chengye couldn’t see her face clearly, only that she had a nice figure.
“Damn, even in dreams you’re out there hitting on girls? What bad luck.” Jiang Chengye slapped his forehead and chuckled.
Just then, someone knocked on his bedroom door again.
Jiang Chengye’s face changed with fear. Don’t tell him yesterday was just a dream?
He was genuinely terrified that Zhou Dafu would be outside saying another truckload of roses had arrived.
Fortunately, it was just his dad, Jiang Zhenhua.
“Son! Open the door!”
Jiang Chengye breathed a sigh of relief and called out, “Coming.”
He got up and opened the door.
Jiang Zhenhua greeted him with a big grin and immediately pulled him into a bear hug.
He was still wearing the same suit from yesterday, although it still carried a hint of women’s perfume. Judging by that, last night’s streamer parachute encounter didn’t seem to have worn him out at all. Jiang Chengye gave his dad a silent thumbs-up in his heart.
“What’s up, Dad? Did you find me a new stepmom?” Jiang Chengye joked.
Jiang Zhenhua laughed heartily, “Cut it out, kid. Don’t tease your old man. I already heard everything that happened at Old Madam Su’s birthday banquet last night. Well done, kid!” He patted Jiang Chengye’s shoulder. “I was wrong about you. Who said a simp ends up with nothing? Turns out you were playing a tactical game all along!”
Jiang Chengye was dumbfounded. Tactical game? What tactic?
“Dad, what are you talking about? I really don’t understand.”
Jiang Zhenhua straightened his face, “Still pretending in front of your old man? You think you can hide your little tricks from me? Hah!”
“You used to visit her regularly every week, showing up like clockwork. That kind of persistence naturally makes the one being pursued feel like it’s deserved. Once that feeling becomes a habit, it turns into a trap.”
“When those doubts creep in, she starts to care about you. Even if you don’t look for her, she’ll come looking for you! And in the end, she becomes someone you can toy with as you please.”
Even Jiang Zhenhua clicked his tongue after explaining it.
Jiang Chengye was stunned. That was a whole lesson right there.
He didn’t expect that simping could be so technical. But he hadn’t done any of that. Yesterday was purely because the system exploded, so he wasn’t following the plot.
Who would’ve thought Jiang Zhenhua could interpret things so deeply. As expected of the chairman of Jiangbei Group—just one word: brilliant.
Though that last line—”toy with as you please”—sounded a little too crude.
“Dad, your wisdom is unmatched. I’m convinced!” Jiang Chengye quickly clasped his hands in admiration.
“Sigh, I really misjudged you before. I didn’t see how much thought you put into it. I only found out about your brilliant performance at the Su family banquet this morning.”
Jiang Zhenhua looked a bit remorseful. Thinking back, Jiang Chengye used to go all-in just to set things up, even risking his life. Yet he never understood it back then.
Who would’ve thought that just one day of stopping the simp act would yield such results?
Now she was the one throwing herself at him!
He’d met that Tang family girl before. Although she looked gentle and refined on the surface, she had a strong sense of pride and was incredibly capable. So young, yet already the general manager of Tangyu Group.
While that may have had something to do with Jiang Chengye, without real ability, she wouldn’t have lasted in that role.
Tang Shiyu had achieved real results and proved her critics wrong. She was a true businesswoman.
And yet, such a woman had ended up falling for his son.
Now she was the one clinging to him, letting him take control.
Jiang Chengye looked at the guilt in Jiang Zhenhua’s eyes and froze.
Everything he just said had absolutely nothing to do with him. The original Jiang Chengye was genuinely just a simp. What Jiang Zhenhua described didn’t apply to him at all.
If anything even remotely matched, it would be an insult to his villain-simp persona!
“It’s fine, Dad. It’s not too late to understand now!” Jiang Chengye smiled.
Jiang Zhenhua nodded with satisfaction but then frowned and asked, “Since the Tang girl was being so proactive, why didn’t you accept?” Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.
That was what puzzled him. Logically, the goal had been achieved—it was time to reap the reward. And yet his son turned her down? She was practically saying she wanted to sleep next to him!
Jiang Chengye patted his shoulder, “Dad, that’s short-sighted thinking. I’ve been simping for her for so long, and now that she finally realizes my worth, I can’t just take her in right away. I need to earn something back too, don’t you think?”
Jiang Zhenhua nodded, then shook his head. He knew his son too well. This boy always played flashy tricks—what’s so great about him? His waist? His kidneys?
“Do whatever you want. Just hurry up and marry her already so I can hold a grandson next year. The Jiang family’s future depends on you!”
Jiang Zhenhua looked Jiang Chengye up and down, especially focusing on his lower half. He was famous for being a playboy—who knew if there was any wear and tear down there.
Jiang Chengye noticed his father’s gaze, and it felt like a cold wind blew past his legs. “Got it, Dad. You’ve been up all night. You should go rest.”
“Yeah, I really should.” Once Jiang Chengye said it, Jiang Zhenhua did start to feel a little tired. Before leaving, he reminded him, “Take it easy. Be safe. Don’t… well, you get it. Anyway, don’t worry about it!”
Jiang Chengye broke into a cold sweat and nodded repeatedly.
Finally, he managed to send Jiang Zhenhua off.
He laid back down on his bed again, but just then, his door was knocked on once more.
Zhou Dafu’s urgent voice followed, “Young Master, something big has happened! Miss Tang Shiyu is here to see you!”
Jiang Chengye sat up immediately, speechless. Can we not call this a ‘big deal’? The female lead visiting is a blessing!
He hadn’t expected her to show up so soon. She had only just regained her memories yesterday, and today she was already at his doorstep?
That was fast!
He wondered if Ye Chen, upon finding out, would feel compelled to crown himself with a ‘hat of peace.’
Wearing his pajamas, Jiang Chengye opened the door.
Zhou Dafu was stunned by the sight. Was this really how he planned to meet his white moonlight? Wearing pajamas and sporting a messy bedhead?
“Young Master, maybe you should tidy up a bit?” Zhou Dafu whispered.
“No need. It’s not like I’m going to someone else’s house. Why bother with details in my own home?” Jiang Chengye waved casually, totally unconcerned.
In the past, would Tang Shiyu ever come to his door?
Get real.
Roles had reversed. The simp wasn’t him anymore.
